Duvet days are lazy...discuss!

I said I would kill for a pyjama day but DH says they're a waste of a day and lazy. Who is unreasonable?

At the moment DH has COVID so I'm having to do all the school runs/shopping/work etc and sleep on the sofa so I don't catch it. I'm exhausted but have to keep going. Hence saying I'd love a duvet day. But DH practically sneered at me for saying it.

Yeah it completely lazy. An honestly what is wrong with that? One day is not a lifestyle, it’s good for you. As a family we build in a “lazy day” every now and again. We get up, the kids pile in our bed and we drink tea. Then we get showered, put on our comfiest clothes and watch movies or do colouring, play board games etc. Makes our insanely busy weekly schedule seem much more doable. Sorry you’ve tested positive now and I hope you manage to get lots of rest.

Did it today. Was blissful after a hard week at work. I need at least a couple of duvet Saturdays a month to stay sane and luckily my kids are lazy teens and are on board Grin.

I don't get dressed unless I actually need to leave the house. I sometimes don't leave the house for days and days.

No one should judge anyone for something that literally has no impact on their life. Tell your DH to fuck off.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered I tested positive Tuesday and have had it all week: like a bad cold but with more sweating and shivering. Still tired now. Had lots of cosies with my poor boy who has both Covid and chickenpox

@MyGhastIsFlabbered

Well it appears my wish may well be granted...I have tested positive for COVID now.
I tested positive on Thursday and it's floored me! Throat is so so sore!

I was literally about to say “are you sure you haven’t caught it as fatigue is often the first symptom!”. Sorry Flowers

If I don't havea day of doing nothing (not necessarily a duvet day) at the weekend, by the time Monday comes around I feel run down, miserable and grumpy.

Perhaps I am just lazy and this isn't normal.

Thefaceofboe · 29/01/2022 20:11

Of course they are lazy, thats why I enjoy them so much.

Mintyt · 30/01/2022 10:46

I don't think it's lazy, I think it's needed.

I went to a talk a while ago about building resilience. They used sports people as an example and said they had three parts to success: practice, rest and performance. They recognised that rest was equally as important as practice and performance. Without rest, performance was degraded.

Transferring that to real life, everyone needs to rest and recharge but everyone will have a different way of achieving it. But carving out some time in a busy schedule to rest, whether it’s a duvet day or just to slow down, needs to balance out the rushing around being busy the rest of the time.
