To think it's curtains for BoJo

I think it's got to be. I read he was planning to release only a portion of the report and in a few weeks. Now it appears to be maybe even today.

Curtains YANBU
He survives YABU

OP posts:
crankysaurus · 26/01/2022 13:58

YABU but only because he's coated in fucking teflon and had no morals.

Cornettoninja · 26/01/2022 13:59

@WhatsTheEffingPoint

If he goes, I hope all the other party goers are forced to resign at the same time. They are equally as bad, they knew the rules as much as Boris, so don't hang it all round his neck, they need to be held accountable too.
If he makes it past the release of Sue Gray’s partial report then I suspect a number of civil servants and lower ranking party members will be offered up as a sacrifice to leave him alone.

Intriguing. Can you expand on this?[/quote]
Not on a public forum when it's just rumours. Sorry.

amilazyortired · 26/01/2022 14:00

YABU he'll survive!

the80sweregreat · 26/01/2022 14:04

The devil takes care of his own and I think the report will be wishy washy and get him off most of the big questions.
They will all then hide behind ' the police report ' for another few weeks.
Just my prediction, for what it's worth

Toanewstart22 · 26/01/2022 14:04

I bloody hope he survives!

Cornettoninja · 26/01/2022 14:05

I can’t believe that this is potentially the man and cabinet who’ll be navigating us through serious military tensions/war with Russia. Ffs.

Toanewstart22 · 26/01/2022 14:05

Although if I could be assured Gove replaces him… I’d be happy
But ONLY in that scenario

OverByYer · 26/01/2022 14:07

I’d like to think it’s curtains but he’s bloody Teflon sadly.

longtompot · 26/01/2022 14:21

I'm wondering that if this report has gone any way in the government's favour then I'm sure they would have been shouting about it by now. I'm thinking (hoping) it has been an honest report and exposed their lies which is why they are being quiet and deciding how best to go forward.

Apparently they couldn’t have it before PMQ without time for opposition to go through it too

Think they wanted to get it over with

tara66 · 26/01/2022 14:42

I was outraged and very angry a few days ago but now I just think he will survive especially if the Ukraine situation worsens, anyway who will bring him down if he does not resign?.

BreadInCaptivity · 26/01/2022 14:43

Yes.

I think it's well past time that Bo-Jo should Bo-Go.....

itsgettingweird · 26/01/2022 14:49

After watching PMQs I'm absolutely certain he needs to go.

ThenHoC shouldn't be turned into a complete pantomime performance where a PM can deny to answer questions because they are subject to a police enquiry.

It's making a mockery of the system and our entire country.

Mydogmylife · 26/01/2022 14:56

@AlternativePerspective

Nope. And in truth sometimes you need to be careful what you wish for. The idea that e.g. Priti Patel could become the next prime minister is something I’m sure none of us wants to contemplate, but it could be a reality if he goes, and she is far worse.

But TBH I’m bored of all this now. There are far more trying issues out there such as Russia/Ukraine, they’re essentially trivialising all that by wittering on about bloody parties.

But surely it's not the parties per se, but the the lying, obfuscation and general attempted cover ups surrounding the whole situation.
bubblesbubbles11 · 26/01/2022 15:04

Whether he needs to go or not is irrelevant.
Everyone massively underestimates how parliament works in 2022. Society is literally beholden to an extremely elite based system where if you are a very rich white male who went to certain schools/Universities, the basic principles of society and public roles (honesty, integrity, lack of corruption etc) DO NOT APPLY TO YOU, NEVER WILL APPLY TO YOU.

Boris will literally never ever resign on his own account. He will only be gone if he is forceably removed and even that at the moment seems HIGHLY unlikely purely because of the widespread PR machine which says "there is nobody else suitable to do the job".

I don't think Boris will no longer be prime minister for a very very long time yet.

tootiredtobother · 26/01/2022 15:14

have not read the whole thread, but i'm not bothered about PartyGate, what we need is to wise up and deal with Putin, or we are F....., a bit of cake is nothing set against the threat of Russia gaining anymore territory.
The petty squabbles and jockying for position on both sides of the house is shameful, and the constant media hyping is not helping.
Bigger fish to fry here people

My sentiments exactly.

There certainly are. So big they need a strong, decent, honest leader to address them. Not a bladder of lard who lies as easily and often as he breathes. Much too big to be entrusted to Johnson and his cronies.

Youaremypenguin · 26/01/2022 15:23

He won't go. There is a reason he has not sacked many people in cabinet and left the resignation upto them. It tells you a lot about his ability to ride out the storm and what he thinks should and shouldn't happen.

As appalling as it is I simply don't think his resignation is required or helpful at this time. I don't particularly like any of the alternative people either.

I'm getting bored with it all now and want to move on.

oncemoreunto · 26/01/2022 15:33

Yes and the basic standard that a government minister who lies should resign should be a bedrock.

Otherwise the bigger fish aren't going to get fried they are going to slap us round the face instead.

We need to have some trust in our government and the standards they operate. So do the other countries we work with.

If this has been leaked then it can't all be Cummings... this was after he left wasn't it?

If I could ‘like’ a post this would be it.
Porcupineintherough · 26/01/2022 15:42

I voted YABU but I really, really want to be wrong. Apparently we need to hold on to the useless fuck because of the crisis in Ukraine. Hmm
