@JaniieJones

'Getting over the coke high which kept him going through PMQ yesterday?'

Blimey. It's all getting a bit desperate now isn’t it. Isn't this defamatory?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 at you accusing others of being desperate.

Do agree we shouldn't be accusing him of things we don't have evidence for.

But you don't think we should be holding him account for things we have photographic evidence of and he's apologised for 🤷‍♀️

DePfeffoff · 27/01/2022 12:36

To establish defamation, you have to show that the allegation would lower the person concerned in the minds of right-think people. As Johnson is already at rock bottom in most people's perception, he wouldn't get past first base.

Notonthestairs · 27/01/2022 12:36

Labour are considering using humble address to compel Government to publish the full SG report.
I think it needs around 40 Tory MP's to pass - but then it would be difficult for Conservative MP's to convincingly argue that they aren't colluding in a cover up if they don't support the publication and simultaneously argue we have to wait for it.

Aren't the police currently investigating cocaine use in Westminster - the Speaker invited them to do so just before Christmas as I recall.

Ambushed by coke?

Talking of ambushes, I carefully balanced a cake and candle on top of the kitchen door when I went out this morning.

Came back later full of hope that I would be ambushed by it, but sadly it ambushed DC earlier and made a terrible mess on the carpet.

Is there an opposite to defamation whereby an allegation improves the person concerned in the minds of people?

BBC news, just, apparently the "allegations" re Afghanistan evacuation are Total Rhubarb

Is that Borisspeak for Bollocks?

UnconditionalSurrender · 27/01/2022 13:30

FFS. He's off cosplaying a builder or somesuch in Wales. Hard hat, hi viz vest, and a brass neck.

This guy yesterday seems to me to be off his face on coke, but who can really tell with a Tory MP?

@Blossomtoes

Nobody is denying that. I am simply saying that it is daft to describe them as "his rules".

Perhaps someone should tell my Tory MP who wrote

I understand and share the anger felt by people across the country at allegations of gatherings in Downing Street during the pandemic. So many of us have made extraordinary personal sacrifices throughout the pandemic. We followed the rules to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. I know for many people, it is deeply upsetting to think that those in Downing Street, who set the rules, did not follow them.

It's daft, isn't it? There are some 170 staff in Downing Street, who didn't set the rules. It seems likely that a number of them broke the rules set by parliament.

It's just as well people don't call these errors "lies" as it might make Johnson's lying look tame in comparison.

22itsallnew · 27/01/2022 13:46

@ConstanceL I noticed his behaviour yesterday & thought it more like a spectator at football rather than an MP in the HOP

Turns out he's Jonathan Gullis, MP since 2019 for Stoke in Trent
Previously he worked as a secondary school teacher in Birmingham. Jonathan was a Head of Year and was responsible for the achievement, behaviour and safety of over 250 students. He oversaw whole school attendance for Years 7 to 11 and was also the school trade union representative for the NASUWT.
How I ask myself did a teacher become one of Boris's bawdy boys? Surely, he wouldn't have let his students behave like that? So why did he think its fitting behaviour in the House of Commons?

I'm sure you are right, but nobody has suggested that Johnson is suing for defamation, so why bring up the idea?

According to his WIKI entry, he has "issues".

Peregrina · 27/01/2022 13:52

It's obviously a pity that the Civil Servants who attended the parties didn't follow the example of their colleagues who knew that this was wrong. They are grown adults after all.

More importantly, it clouds the issue - if all the attendees in the Cabinet Office Birthday party were Carrie Johnson, Lulu Lytle and Carrie's other friends, none of whom work in Downing Street, then we could finally knock this nonsense of they had a bit of birthday cake whilst working at their desks on the head.

borntobequiet · 27/01/2022 13:54

@Florianus

borntobequiet: Those that set the rules broke their own rules

Most of those attending these gatherings were civil servants. They didn't set the rules. The rules were set by parliament, the advice was set by cabinet. Few MPs or cabinet members have been accused of partying.

If you’re not Sue Grey, you don’t know who “most of those attending” were.

Anyway, deflecting blame onto civil servants is a tactic that won’t wash (though it’s rolled out on a regular basis along with other lame attempts at misdirection).

The Government set the rules, members of the Government broke the rules. That’s it.

Peregrina · 27/01/2022 13:54

I see he's pratting around in a hard hat and hi-vis jacket yet again.

Roussette · 27/01/2022 14:01

Oh god not again. (he loves his hi vis jacket dress up days doesn't he...)

Or his vaccination centre days just getting in the way.

Maybe he should be cleaning chairs again....

Grin
22itsallnew · 27/01/2022 14:06

@Florianus well his behaviour wasn't befitting someone representing their constiuents in public office.

By 'issues' do you mean his Wiki entry says he has previously experienced mental health conditions including depression, self-harm and suicidal thoughts?

Downnotdown · 27/01/2022 14:08

Boris is in north Wales today.

He flew up on the government newly-painted (at a cost of £900K) Airbus this morning.

So much for going green Boris Hmm

Roussette · 27/01/2022 14:10

Let's not talk private jets... Liz Truss flew to Australia and back weeks ago on one costing the taxpayer £500,000. She refused first class Quantas.
They're all taking us for mugs.

twitter.com/BillyVacant/status/1486453634862829570

He was doing it because he was just behind Johnson and he's hoping to get a Ministerial job. He seems to have the right level of unintelligence.

And have we all clocked the pillock in the Union Jack mask? Surely it's unpatriotic to bellow spit through it?

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 27/01/2022 14:22

@ConstanceL I actually felt a bit sick watching that Gullis creature....really appalling behaviour.

DePfeffoff · 27/01/2022 14:23

I didn't bring up the idea, it was your little friend. Do keep up.

22itsallnew · 27/01/2022 14:23

Private jets. I thought they were supposed to stick to best value principles to protect taxpayers mone?.

@Downnotdown Our masters green credentials come from telling the public what we need to do...obviously it doesn't apply to Conservative MPs or their working practices (see also lockdown laws)

More rhubarb. Waiting for eventual crumble.
