To ask what salary...

I've just been having a chat with a friend about salary as he is currently on the look out for a new job, he was quite surprised when I told him my salary.

It's got me thinking, so what kind of Salary would you expect from this role?

Main duties:
Providing bespoke quotations to suit customers needs

Taking orders and entering onto account systems

Sending proforma invoices / taking payment

Putting together production sheets using formulas on excel for every order (always bespoke)

Answering phone and email queries

Outsourcing costs for components / ordering them when needed (this is not so often)

Taking care of all social media and website

Making Eflyers for marketing campaigns

All other basic administrative duties such as keeping spreadsheets up to date.

Location - Suffolk.
Time at Company - 15 years
Around 15 employees.

I'd say similar transferable skills to the office manager / admin person in my team so 22-24K?

In my current company that would probably get you about £22k if you were lucky. In a proper company around me I’d say £25-30k. I’m in Scotland

Hard to say as it depends on how specialised the work is and what packages are used and how much website work is involved - is it a basic front end user portal or does the role involve proper coding/building etc..

Who does the person report to?

Hours worked?

Is the product basic or highly technical? Commin or quite specialised?

Sounds like a slightly more varied than usual admin role, nothing that seems to need any specific skills or qualifications - maybe £17-£20K? Perhaps a bit more since you've been there 15 years, assuming you've had a payrise each year.

I imagine if you left, they'd advertise for a school leaver or fresh graduate on near minimum wage. Sounds a bit more interesting that the average admin role though.

It sounds like typical administration & would get a lot of applicants if you left.

Depends whether public or private. Public I’d say around £24k. Private they may push up to £35k

The sales and order processing sound quite basic, and as you’ve said small company I’d guess around £22-25k. But a social media manager at a large company would probably be on about £40k, I think.

Depends the extent of the bespoke quotations.
If its put a margin on a cost and put in a pretty word document or is it build a bespoke commercial model from scratch and present the P&L to the leadership team.

The former about £25k, the latter about £40k.
