These are my symptoms. What is wrong?

For as long as I can remember, I have very little energy beyond going to work as a teacher, sorting out my two kids, house and husband and general day to day stuff. I'm sick of feeling soooo tired. My exhaustion is now affecting my kids and husband.

Symptoms include: fatigue, exhaustion, never waking up refreshed, irritable, very low mood, tearfulness, slow weight gain, brain feels heavy sometimes and cannot juggle thoughts or tasks.

I've had blood taken recently and awaiting results but I'm worried. I'm worried there'll be something majorly wrong but at the same time worried there'll be absolutely nothing physically wrong so I cannot fix it.

Please help. I just feel like crying.

Iron deficiency
Vitamin d deficiency

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 25/01/2022 17:42

Thyroid?

Iron? Too high or too low both.

Peri menopause?

If you've had it for a long time it cannot be that bad, so try not to worry until you het your results.

Raspberryrippleplease · 25/01/2022 17:43

Motherhood

HollaHolla · 25/01/2022 17:43

How old are you? I felt like this in peri-menopause, and into menopause. I was pretty young, and really didn't think it was peri at all. (It co-incided with a pretty major surgery I had, so was convinced it was a hangover from that....) I was about 36 when it started. Was properly into/through menopause at 44 - no period since I was about 41/42. I started HRT about a year ago, when I got all the bloods done, and it's like a switch flicked. Honestly, it was a completely new lease of life.
Take care

KatyRebecca84 · 25/01/2022 17:43

Sounds hormonal or something like b12?

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 25/01/2022 17:44

It could be M.E./CFS. If you have a look there are good sites like actionforME and the NICE guidelines (are you in the uk?) that can give you information on it. Try not to worry, whatever it is there are things that can be done to help x

CanIHaveAHolidayPlease · 25/01/2022 17:44

Vitamin B12 deficiency/ pernicious anaemia.

Levels are not routinely checked in the trust where I live. Speak to your GP. X

I just want to feel better.

Not sure what bloods have been order d tbh and don't think menopause was really discussed. It has crossed my mind.

Another symptom I forgot was hair thinning and coming out on brush.

I felt like this and had a Vit D defficiency, felt so much better after tablets

AbsentmindedWoman · 25/01/2022 17:45

Maybe thyroid?

NHS never did the relevant tests which meant I went years undiagnosed and dismissed as having fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.

Well, no. I moved countries and turns out I'm hypothyroid after all. Feel a lot more human on medication.

Recommend doing one of those comprehensive home blood tests, I think one is called Medichecks?

FateHasRedesignedMost · 25/01/2022 17:45

Depression maybe? Anxiety?

Being a teacher and juggling kids and a household is hard work.

StrictlySinging · 25/01/2022 17:46

First thought Vitamin D is low

Second thought (middle age -sorry) busy life

Mamamia7962 · 25/01/2022 17:47

Could be underactive thyroid?

OneTC · 25/01/2022 17:47

Folate deficiency

Ireolu · 25/01/2022 17:47

Thyroid vit D iron deficiencies
Depression

Lolacat1234 · 25/01/2022 17:48

Get iron and vit d levels checked - most likely to be low in both as they go hand in hand x

TheFishWillSeeYouNow · 25/01/2022 17:48

Life, menopause, age, depression?

Yep... my hair also started to fall out. :(
Elsiebear90 · 25/01/2022 17:49

Sounds like depression.

violetbunny · 25/01/2022 17:49

Sleep apnea?
Still possible even if you don't snore. My uncle has it and was waking himself up multiple times every hour so never got a good nights sleep. Wasn't diagnosed until he was in his 50s. Now has a CPAP machine and sleeps a lot better.

Freecuthbert · 25/01/2022 17:49

I've had lots of bloods ordered and it's always ticked/written on the form the things they are testing for, but I'm sure it's probably too late to check now as they've already been taken?

When did you have your bloods taken? I've had bloods taken at community centre and within couple hours a phone call from 111 because of something really bad on my test and I had to go to hospital. If you have been waiting for results a while then it's probably nothing urgent based on results, have you chased up with GP?

FreedomFaith · 25/01/2022 17:50

Iron deficiency and likely early menopause.

Really interested to read this. The advanced nurse at my GP practice told me my levels were sub optimal - ie they are at the low end of normal range. They are going to repeat them then I have an appt with an endocrinologist. I really hope they will trial thyroxine.
MirabelM · 25/01/2022 17:50

I take anti depressants for anxiety and low level depression. So not meaning to drip feed. I've gone private ly for bloods as I wanted a full lot done and not just usual ones. I don't think the GP has ever checked my thyroid just gave me some iron tablets. I'm genuinely so down at feeling like this. I've been wishing for a small bump in the car or something just to give me some time off! Sad isn't it

Also, sleep apnea is linked to weight gain, because your body ends up so tired it basically tries to get energy from whatever source it can.
