to call for boycott on Cadbury's Roses?

I was given a box of Roses as a thank you a couple of years ago. They tasted like vomit, palm oil and sugar. An absolute waxy abomination.

I still see them stacked up in supermarkets every Christmas and wonder who the hell is buying them and how the company is getting away with it.

Please, stop buying them - they are not the same as you remember!

&don't buy them that should say!

CaMePlaitPas · 23/01/2022 19:52

Oh I like them. Sorry.

HelloFrostyMorning · 23/01/2022 19:58

You don't need to tell me this @Isittimeformynapyet I have already done it. They are foul. Milk Tray are not much better. Even our tin of bloody Quality Street (Rowntrees I think?) tasted a bit 'meh' over Christmas. Sort of stale and bland. Cadbury's Milk Chocolate (the slab) is still decent and I enjoy crunchies, but much Cadbury's stuff now is shit. Thorntons is BLEH too. Every one in the box tastes the same and the toffee is hard and bland.

Taste like vomit? Grow up

Google butyric acid. US chocolate contains it, giving their chocolate a slightly vomity taste.

I haven’t had cadburys since kraft took over and changed the recipe, but since they’re an american company it wouldn’t surprise me if it does taste slightly vomity now.

HelloFrostyMorning · 23/01/2022 20:04

@LydiaFTM

Oh grow up. Just don't buy them. There are literally thousands of products on the shelves so we aren't all going to like the same ones! Why bother yourself worrying about them?
Having a bad day dear? Wink

Do people think they sound clever and big when they say 'grow up' to someone airing a grievance or opinion?

They don't. They just sound rude and obnoxious.

surreygirl1987 · 23/01/2022 20:05

I like them

SituationCritical · 23/01/2022 20:12

I really miss the original taste and the original wrappings...I've got a photo of me aged two with the traditional huge glass jar at Christmas time with chocolate all around my face and my arm up the armpit in all these beautifully wrapped coloured sweets. Now they look and taste shit. Our local supermarkets obviously couldn't shift them as there were stacks of plastic tubs being sold off for £2 after New Year.

BooksAndHooks · 23/01/2022 20:20

Not as nice no and I miss coffee creams but we still like them and the strawberry and orange creams go first in our house. I much prefer roses over celebrations which are just filled to the brim with bounty that none of us eat.

justanoldhack · 23/01/2022 20:49

Up for a total Cadbury's boycott. I got given a random Freddo at Christmas, I actually had to spit the thing out it was so foul. Didn't taste at all of chocolate, just cheap sugar. Used to love those guys from the school tuck shop - bastard Kraft!

Isittimeformynapyet · 23/01/2022 20:51

Thanks for each and every one of your comments.

"Why do I bother to worry about it"? Well I don't really, I just had an idle moment and wondered if anyone else felt the same. Just a whimsy.

Of course, I can no more tell anyone else what to do or not than they can instruct me to grow up. I'm only 53, so whilst I am very grown up when needs must, I retain my absolute right to be daft whenever I like.

@EarlyModernEnglish

It’s weird how loads and loads of people on mn literally can’t eat them but when a box is open at work literally everyone is fine with them. In fact, I haven’t met a single person in real life who has rejected them in the dramatic way that seems normal on this thread 🤷‍♀️
We have had a tin on our table since mid December Still there
