to call for boycott on Cadbury's Roses?

Isittimeformynapyet · 23/01/2022 02:58

I was given a box of Roses as a thank you a couple of years ago. They tasted like vomit, palm oil and sugar. An absolute waxy abomination.

I still see them stacked up in supermarkets every Christmas and wonder who the hell is buying them and how the company is getting away with it.

Please, stop buying them - they are not the same as you remember!

@SerialNo

Oh no, now they taste like vomit, palm oil and sugar.

As opposed to their more traditional vomit and sugar taste.

😂😂😂

I was given a box of Cadbury’s Milk Tray recently. I hadn’t had Cadbury’s in years and I thought it tasted far different from what I remembered. It was very sickly sweet and I didn’t eat them (and I’ll eat most things!).

Have they actually changed the Dairy Milk recipe? I assumed it was just me.

LagunaBubbles · 23/01/2022 06:53

Of course they don't taste of vomit. And the fact they are still popular shows some people obviously like them.

Never been the same in any way since bought by Kraft. Feel free to boycott. I very rarely by cadburys now because it’s just not the same. Green & Blacks got bought out and changed the recipe and now they are crap tasting too. YANBU.

Missey85 · 23/01/2022 07:00

My favourite chocolates! I'll always buy them but the recipes different here in Australia the UK swapped to the US recipe wich is full of corn syrup hence the yucky cadburys over there

Sophoclesthefox · 23/01/2022 07:03

YANBU. If you could pass the message on to MIL, who gave us a box for Christmas, that’d be great! She usually buys us Thorntons, which aren’t my particular favourite, but are miles better than these waxy abominations.

daisychainsandrainbows · 23/01/2022 07:03

Good old MN snobbery about how absolutely AWFUL 'commoner' chocolate is. The taste may have changed but they don't taste like vomit do they Hmm

Flocon · 23/01/2022 07:06

You want us to boycott them because you don't like them?

MattDillonsEyebrows · 23/01/2022 07:07

YANBU they’re vile now. I often wonder if the people who buy them are the same people who buy strawberries in January? Awful lumps of tasteless white/pale pink hardness.

I think in the UK, we have become so accustomed to accepting crap food in supermarkets that people just don’t notice.

But the decline in Cadbury chocolate is really sad. It used to be so delicious. 😢

tttigress · 23/01/2022 07:08

Well, they are not like I remember them as a kid.

Maybe that is because my tastes have changed or the fact they have started putting more vegetable fat in the chocolate to increase profitability.

Thatsplentyjack · 23/01/2022 07:08

Cadbury chocolate has always been shite.

Thatsplentyjack · 23/01/2022 07:10

I actually don't mind roses though. If people buy me them, I will eat them. Rude not to.

Loopytiles · 23/01/2022 07:12

Not snobbery: they’ve changed the chocolate formulae and now it tastes bad.

LemonViolet · 23/01/2022 07:17

It’s not even tins, it’s plastic tubs.

GiltEdges · 23/01/2022 07:20

Why do people get so up in arms about this? It's cheap chocolate. It always tasted pretty bad. If you don't like it, don't buy/eat it ConfusedEveryone has different tastes clearly as they're a long way from going out of business.

Thievesoil · 23/01/2022 07:23

It’s almost impossible to find anything mainstream without palm oil. It’s bloody depressing!

Piglet89 · 23/01/2022 07:27

@GrendelsGrandma amazing!

Numnumcookie · 23/01/2022 07:29

I had dairy milk for the first time in ages last week (before I started my diet) and all I could taste was palm oil and sugar. Disappointed it's changed so much.

Loopytiles · 23/01/2022 07:29

Used to taste good.

FourChimneys · 23/01/2022 07:38

Complete ban on Cadbury in our family for ethical and environmental reasons. They are not a good company to support.

Andoffwego · 23/01/2022 07:48

I’m with yo. They are absolutely disgusting now. They taste all waxy and fatty. They used to taste lovely until somewhere around 7-10 years ago when the recipes changed. I don’t know how anyone can eat them (and I will usually eat any chocolate).

Pyri · 23/01/2022 07:52

They’re small boxes with lots of waste but mumsnetters are VERY dramatic about the taste of them. They don’t taste that different and certainly not of “palm oil and vomit”

Nitgel · 23/01/2022 07:53

No chocolate tastes as good as it did in the 70s/80s

Plumbear2 · 23/01/2022 07:57

No I won't boycott them just because you don't like them. Get a grip.

LuckyAmy1986 · 23/01/2022 07:59

Please, stop buying them

Erm, no…
