Threatened with losing my job

Yesterday, I got a letter and a delightful email in my work email telling me I am going to lose my job unless I get vaccinated.

Yes I work for the NHS.

This is insulting and rude when those in power think to threaten people without getting their data /facts correct.

May 2020 - I received my first vaccine as part of the first vaccine trial in the world. By the end of June 2020 I had my second dose. In June 2021 - I had a new trial booster.

Problem is if you had your vaccine as part of the trials that helped move the world back to normal - then the systems do not recognise it as being had. The NHS app will give me a covid pass and says i have had it but it is not considered the real thing that everyone else got after being tried on people like me.

I have to email my proof to them to prove ~I have had it. 3 emails later and I have had to send in passport details, vaccine trial details, this detail that detail etc etc.

Today 'i got invited to a meeting with my manager to discuss the implications of my refusenik beliefs and to inform me that as of April 1st I will not be employed by the NHS. That said person could not see how frustrating it is for someone who has been vaccinated all along but systems do not recognise it and still asked me for proof - just pushed me over the edge today.

Whilst I appreciate this is adminstritative it really is insulting that they can not get this right. I and many of my NHS colleagues volunteered blindly into a trial not knowing what the hell would happen to help the world.

our thanks for helping move the world on - threatened with the sack. Thoroughly pissed off Vax volunteer.

But the new booster currently not approved so still have to go and get another booster as trial finished last week.

Really does not encourage me to volunteer again.

Are you a union member? If so it may be time to get them involved.
You need a letter of apology at the very least.

I think my SIL was saying her friend was in a situation similar to yours (both in NHS though SIL didn't have hers as part of trials), I will ask her what the outcome was because I know she was very upset for her friend.
Can I just take this opportunity OP to thank you and all of the NHS for the absolute stellar job that you have done during such a horrid time.

As you have been vaccinated, sending that email to you is outrageous.

Sending it to NHS staff who have not had the vaccination...not so much.

I can understand you feeling like that, BUT you did an amazing thing which many millions of people are very grateful for!! I'm CEV & quite probably now owe my life to you & others brave enough to partake in the trials.

You have the gratitude of millions... NHS Admin sucks big time, don't let it change who you are!!

I think check the data and then send out the letters but this has been - get data, not check it and send out emails and letters on same day as managers got the lists, with no checking.

As my manager said - saw your name and laughed knew you were signed up in first week and did not get placebo.

Many of my department applied but did not get into the trials - so we had all been pretty open about it and when we unblinded - those who had got the real thing and those who got the meningitis vaccine were either happy or miffed!

It’s just an admin error.

They are dealing with millions upon millions of vaccinations. Errors are bound to happen. Don’t waste time personalising it.

Seriously I get errors happen - but threaten me with job loss after your have data is corrected not before.

When you think you did something good and then get berated for making more work (the irony did not escape me) because you did do good - it is insulting.

Had no issue being asked if I was vaccinated but I did not get asked, I got threatened first.

that is ridiculous. I really hope you get a quick resolution for your sake. Thank you for volunteering. We needed you and it is not good enough at all that you and others are being treated this way.

But after the dust has settled I do wonder if you could utilise GDPR and the right to have inaccurate personal data rectified?

@Theballoonsinthesky People should get the vaccine to protect themselves not others as it doesn't work for that.
Not relevant to this thread, but you really aren’t the brightest are you?
A) If you are vaccinated you are much less less to contract covid in the first place therefore much less likely to pass it on to others.
B) the immune compromised rely on others having the vaccine to protect them. That exactly how it works.

Are you for real? Hmm Why the fuck should she have more jabs. She has taken part in potentially dangerous trials that benefitted us all and worked through the pandemic presumably putting herself st more risk.

If you send your NHS number to the VCOD team they should be able to locate you on the system and amend their records accordingly.

You’ve done everything right. It’s not your fault that the jabs you had aren’t recognised

I predict quite a few legal cases over all this in the summer/autumn
