To refuse to kiss 70 animals a day?

DS has slowly got into cuddly toys more and more. It got to the point where he had some on his shelf and some in his bed and he wanted me to kiss them goodnight, so I did.

But now he is insisting on having all of them in his bed. There's at least 35 if not 40. And he has a nap as well - so they both need two kisses a day.

Am I being a total bitch to refuse to kiss that many soft toys? He was 3 in September.

This has got to be the cutest thread that's ever existed on mumsnet 😭

thesugarbumfairy · 18/01/2022 14:33

You need a special kiss distributor that you blow into and it magically covers all cuddlies in kisses without kissing each one.
(like a mini funnel or something)

Santahasjoinedww · 18/01/2022 14:34

You need staff for that
.

I came on this thread thinking you must work in a zoo!

My ds used to do this - he'd get upset if each teddy didn't get equal attention - aww!

queenMab99 · 18/01/2022 14:35

I would tell him it is his job to kiss the fluffies, as they will think he doesn't love them.

FrankGrillosWrist · 18/01/2022 14:36

😆 I thought you'd got a job at a zoo & had an extreme boss.

Brighteyedtriangle · 18/01/2022 14:37

Stand your ground, dont be bullied by a 3 year old.

Ellowyn · 18/01/2022 14:38

Your son is going to grow up to be a very loving person - as he is now. I'd give the bigger crowd of animals a big 'blanket' kiss. Please video this as you will treasure it forever. I wish I'd taken more videos of the cute things my son did.

My daughter used to insist I place a head of broccoli in the bed with her every night and I had to kiss it along with her fecking Everest Mountain of cuddly toys suffocating her. Every day I had to make sure we had broccoli in the fridge in preparation for the bedtime madness. I get exhausted just remembering this! She's still kind of the same... nearly 12 and has to have some sort of crazy bedside shrine. Her current one is Moomin themed. No broccoli though.

@Hedgesfullofbirds

Is that you Elizabeth...I mean Your Majesty?
😂😂😂😂

That's adorable!Smile

@stingofthebutterfly

Stop the nap and you've halved your problem. Why does he need a nap at 3?
I hate this attitude. Some children might not need a nap but others do.
housemaus · 18/01/2022 14:47

Well this is adorable. Could you buy some cheap bubbles and label it KISSES and blow bubbles at bedtime, say it spreads the kisses into the air for them all...?

Mummyoflittledragon · 18/01/2022 14:48

Bless he won’t be 3 forever. You’re lucky to have a 3 yo, who still naps. Small blessings!

Echobelly · 18/01/2022 14:50

Can't risk it because of COVID? Grin

mistywillow17 · 18/01/2022 14:50

I once had to deal with two hours of sobbing at bedtime from my four year old because when he asked me if I loved his toy pig more than I loved him, I said no... that was apparently the wrong answer.

TarpaulinEyes · 18/01/2022 14:51

On holiday one year my Father started saying good night to all the 'seagull birdies' when putting me to bed. I would probably have been about 3 years old and worried terribly about the seagulls when we got home. Dad would therefore come home from work and come upstairs to say goodnight to me, seagulls, our various pets and anything else that I felt needed love and attention. This could take some time as I might need a story read as well so kissing my toys would have been a step too far.

Awww just kiss them all OP. He’ll soon be a stroppy teenager who won’t want you anywhere near him or his bedroom. I miss the toddler years 😫

Brilliant Grin

OP - stop being mean and get smooching!

mrsmigginswiggins · 18/01/2022 14:59

I would love this, bless him!

[disclaimer: no DC so absolutely zero experience of how annoying/wearing this would be every day]

DueyCheatemAndHow · 18/01/2022 15:00

Your responses have made me laugh!

OK I'm going to suggest a compromise for my 3 year old (who still naps, thanks)

  1. He can have 3 up with him who get their own kiss (current faves are Freddie the bull, Alex the penguin and Donna the dragon)
  2. Everyone else at the bottom gets a group kiss
  3. I've bought him a double bed so there is more room

This is how they fit in!

Sounds like a compromise, OP. Virtual kisses to all of them. Smile

DueyCheatemAndHow · 18/01/2022 15:03

Thanks @AlexaShutUp - does that include the cuddly toy plane that I should have binned the moment he got it?!
