DH watching the film and guffawing. I tried 10 minutes and couldn't take any more.

Never met a woman who finds it funny.

Or Monty Python.

AIBU?

Jellykat · 15/01/2022 17:59

I love This Country, but i have never laughed at anything AP has been in, not even a slight chuckle, hes just not funny imo, same ilk as bloody Miranda..

Bemorebridget · 15/01/2022 17:59

@daisiesonmydress

OMG. Is this going to be one of those unanimous moments when the whole of MN thinks IAU
Nope! I find him really irritating
PuppyMonkey · 15/01/2022 17:59

Another YABU here OP, sorry. Love AP and have loved MP since I was a teenager.

Lynne are those your mothers cateract glasses?

Benjispruce5 · 15/01/2022 18:00

I’m a woman and loved AP series. Not watched the film though.

SingleHandSue · 15/01/2022 18:00

My brother’s best man did a fabulous speech full of Partridge quotes. It went over the head of most of the guests but there were a handful of us in stitches.
‘Some of these people have come from Stoke!’

@the80sweregreat

I really do not understand American humour , I'm not sure why or if it's just preference but I find it forced. People rave about ' will and Grace ' and Fraiser , 'friends ' etc but I can't get on with it !
Frasier is genius. It's gets better every time I watch it. My absolute favourite is Seinfeld though.
Cam2020 · 15/01/2022 18:00

Massively unreasonable IMO, sorry Grin

Benjispruce5 · 15/01/2022 18:01

Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Dan! Grin

PurpleDaisies · 15/01/2022 18:01

My mate went to a fancy dresses party dressed as a zombie, complete with biscuits, tungsten tipped screws and biscuits. Half the people had no idea what he was. The other thought it was genius.

FetchMeMyTank · 15/01/2022 18:01

Sorry OP, another female AP fan here. I adore monty python too Grin. Like a PP I can’t stand Mrs Brown’s Boys. Find Miranda v annoying too. World would be a dull place if we all liked the same stuff (you really should watch life of Brian though - It’s v v funny)

the80sweregreat · 15/01/2022 18:01

I guess that AP inspired David Brent , even the ' life on the road ' film with Gervais nicked a lot from AP.

daisiesonmydress · 15/01/2022 18:02

I can't watch Seinfeld due to the laughter track

I'm going out this evening but this thread is making me want to stay in with my big plate and binge watch AP.

the80sweregreat · 15/01/2022 18:03

I love the Norfolk scenery in Alpha Papa.

the80sweregreat · 15/01/2022 18:03

I’ve always wanted to do that!

The date to an owl sanctuary.
A cracking owl sanctuary. We all love AP in this house, me and DH both early 60s and DD who is 18. DH and I both loved MP at the time it came out but we were teenagers then. Barely watched it since although we do quote it still.
hangrylady · 15/01/2022 18:04

DAN! DAN! DAN! It's absolutely hilarious YABU

You could have a Ladyboy chaser.

You're missing out. It's the foundation of so many comedy shows. Every episode is a lesson in writing comedy.
Benjispruce5 · 15/01/2022 18:05

Curb your enthusiasm comes close to the AP cringe factor.

Karenity · 15/01/2022 18:05

Yabvvvu. Michael jumping off Cromer pier is up there as one of the great moments in comedy history.

Monkey tennis!

This thread should be properly policed. It should not - I repeat, not - turn into an all night rave
