I think it's one of those things where you need to watch it from the very beginning and get to know the characters. Just watching the film as a one off I can understand why it wouldn't be funny.
The I'm Alan Partridge series at the travel tavern are hilarious as well as the I, Partridge book.
Not so keen on the radio series with the sidekick.

I never really liked it but having said that any time I'm messing about playing any sort of ball game or even lob a nappy into the bin from across the kitchen successfully , I'm all "Goooooaaalll! THAT....was a goal!" Alternatively, if unsuccessful then Mitchell and Webb's snooker commentator's "Oh and that's a bad miss" is the go-to phrase.

I've never been sure about 'Alan Partridge'

R4 on Saturday, 15th June ran a Steve Coogan special from 9am to noon, a mixture of interviews with Steve Coogan, people who have worked with him and actual clips from the different shows.

OK, now I'm sure, it is comedy. And he really is interesting. Not just a slightly awkward man who might or might not be representative of a certain type of presenter.
