But seriously i feel a bit weird if I sleep on his side of the bed…and the bed side table….

We have sides we sleep on, DH likes to be near the bedside table so he can turn the alarm off {he wakes up a couple of hours before me for work}
We do sometimes shock switch sides when the mood takes us.

SmallElephant · 15/01/2022 10:57

These days we do, but when we were young and wild and carefree we used to swap sides!

NYnewstart · 15/01/2022 10:58

It blows my mind thinking of people swapping regularly.

Nowt weirder than folk!

winnieanddaisy · 15/01/2022 11:22

I always make him sleep on the side of the bed nearest the door . Obviously at home this stays regular but on holiday it can change depending on the position of the door . This is so the burglars can murder him first Grin

sugarapplelane · 15/01/2022 12:04

We have sides of the bed. I always have to be on the side furthest from the door for some reason.

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2022 17:46

Yes. I always sleep on left as you look at bed

BettyfromBristol · 15/01/2022 18:14

Always the same side at home and on holiday, regardless of the layout of the room.

cecinestpasunepipe · 15/01/2022 18:38

I always slept on the right side, and my husband on the left, but a couple of weeks after he died I moved to his side, it made me feel closer to him somehow.

lisaandalan · 15/01/2022 23:08

Always sleep on the same side and we always have our own sofas in the front room. X

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 15/01/2022 23:12

We have always had sides of the bed but they have changed over the years, according to where I needed to sleep to breast feed, get to the kids, etc Now my kids are older, I'm really weird about being the one that sleeps closest to the door. My DH is 6'2. I have no idea why I think I'd be the better defense!

LiveFromNewYork · 15/01/2022 23:13

We spent about six years swapping every night as one side was better so it was fair. Now we have a slightly less unfair set up so sides have been allocated.

mrsm12 · 15/01/2022 23:15

We have sides too, swapped a few years ago who dh broke his foot and safer to have that foot on the outside so I wouldn't kick it. I'm not further away from door but hasn't stopped dc coming around to me every bloody time!!!!

Tequilamockinbird · 15/01/2022 23:16

Always sleep on the same side at home, but when we go away anywhere it changes. I have to sleep furtherest away from the door so that if a murderer comes in, he gets murdered first (giving me time to get away, obviously) Grin

HoobleDooble · 15/01/2022 23:16

Yes, and we also sit the same way round on the sofa. We're like Ant and Dec 😁

Buttons294749 · 15/01/2022 23:17

Every time i got to a hotel i sleep on the "wrong" side, it gives me a peverse pleasure haha

DoodleBelle · 15/01/2022 23:20

I sleep on the right ‘because I’m always right’ 🤣 we also do this with cups of tea - my cup is always on the right when making them

2pinkginsplease · 15/01/2022 23:20

At home I sleep on the left hand side with him sleeping on my right hand side.

However when we go away I sleep the furthest side away from the door! 😂

2pinkginsplease · 15/01/2022 23:21

Slight coincidence but I sleep on the left and my dinner plate is always on the left too 😂😂😂
noblegreenk · 15/01/2022 23:23

I sleep on the left, so DH is to the right of me. I've always slept on that side of the bed since childhood. We swapped sides for a few months when we had a newborn, purely for practical reasons, but we soon changed back when it was no longer necessary.

KatherineofGaunt · 15/01/2022 23:25

I'm always on the right, wherever we are. Even when he's not in the bed with me!

Fred and George in the HP movies were always Fred on the left and George on the right, apparently. I read that somewhere recently but haven't had a chance to watch a film yet to check if it's true.

peachgreen · 15/01/2022 23:29

Yup. I had an ex who had the same side of the bed as me and honestly, I should have known then it would never work.

DH died over a year ago and I still haven't ventured into "his" side of the bed! It just feels wrong!

Kite22 · 15/01/2022 23:30

In OUR bedroom, then yes, as our "stuff" is on our own sides, but I don't always have to sleep on the left / right when sleeping elsewhere. So, if on holiday or visiting friends or staying in a hotel, it doesn't matter which side we are on.
(So not sure which way to vote).

JudgeJ · 15/01/2022 23:30

Oddly enough I was only thinking about this last night, sadly OH died almost 2 years ago and I suddenly realised that I always sleep on 'my' side of the bed even now. On holiday we liked to ask for twin beds and I still took the left one as you're in them, right as you look at them.

Mydogmylife · 15/01/2022 23:43

Creatures of habit in this house - always same side whether at home or not, have been all our married life.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 15/01/2022 23:48

Always
