If you don't pick up your dogs shit in the street:

A.) What is your excuse/excuses

B.) Do you worry about stepping in dog shit in your neighborhood, or you don't care if it happened.

C.) Does the thought of someone getting your dogs shit on their shoes/pram/wheelchair/ a small child falling in it make you feel GUILTY/INDIFFERENT/HAPPY.

you are anonymous, AIBU to want you to actually admit it and explain yourself

@RestingMurderousFace I cried Grin it was just so disgusting! A massive human dump surrounded by shitty tissues in a bushes near a children’s play area....AND A BLOCK OF TOILETS Angry

LadyCleathStuart · 14/01/2022 16:56

@CounsellorTroi

I remembered another time I didn’t pick it up. Walking along a path with a chain link fence on one side and woodland on the other. Road and hospital buildings on the other side of fence, no pavement on the road on the side nearest me, just weeds. Anyway dog managed to poo through the fence and it fell on the other side. There was no way I could reach it.
My youngest dog did this just a few days ago, it was through the fence of a power station thingy with loads of danger signs so no way was I trying to go in and get it.

He is a good boy and usually poos right next to the bin on the woodland path next to our house so no walking around with the bag for ages.

Putkettleonlove · 14/01/2022 17:00

Just recently dog walkers have been stopped by dog wardens from the council and asked to show that have poo bags on their person. If not they received a fine.

At the mo we are obsessed by the local Facebook page with regard to the colour of bags we are using, there is a culprit who uses maroon bags likes to decorate the foliage with them, full of course

SmallPrawnEnergy · 14/01/2022 17:04

We don’t have a dog anymore but I’ve only not picked it up once and that was when he’d already done a poo and I only had one bag. Walked the same route the next day but I couldn’t find it.

There’s a lot on paths round here, and I too curse under my breath. Then I saw a cat shitting on the pavement in broad daylight a few days ago, so maybe it’s not all dog owners? If most are (claiming) to pick up, it might be a combination of lairs and not being dog shit.

MargosKaftan · 14/01/2022 17:04

You can get biodegradable poobags.

You can get special poo scoops on sticks for mobility issues.

I always pick up, I assume its people whos dog is allowed off lead on streets who don't see it. Or twats, and whos going to admit to that?

Slingsanderrors · 14/01/2022 17:04

I live in a tiny village (less than 20 houses, no pub/shop). I walk my dog twice a day down the lane, no pavement, no dog bins, overgrown verges and I always pick up.
I frequently find dog poo on our lane, the worst culprit is our opposite neighbour who lets their dog out to shit in front of people’s houses. A friend down the lane frequently picks it up on a shovel and chucks it onto the culprits front.
Disgusting people.

LuckyAmy1986 · 14/01/2022 17:05

I don’t think people do it on purpose. I occasionally see dog poo left in our local park and their owners are either distracted on their phones or talking/playing with their kids and just don’t notice. I’ve never seen someone see their dog poo and then just leave it
@3WildOnes
How is this ok?? If there is ANY chance your dog is going to need to poo while you are out on a walk in the park -so pretty high I would imagine Hmm -then they should always be looking out for it. Or don't let your dog off lead and keep it right by you so you can see when it's doing it. Not hard. No excuse.

afuckinggoat · 14/01/2022 17:07

I rarely picked up my dog's poo. We'd do mostly canal-side/woodland walks. She'd back-up right into a woodland bush and poo inside the bush.

Obviously I picked up if she pooed on the pavement/pedestrian area but it rarely happened as she preferred bum-bushing.

In the early days of my relationship, she backed into my MIL's beautiful roses and did a poo right on top of one of the flowers. That was mortifying.

Oh I loved that dog. I miss her so much.

GayParis · 14/01/2022 17:10

I absolutely hate the amount of horrible lazy twats that live around me that don't pick up their dogs shit. I'm sometimes not fast enough to pull the young one away and he often eats other dogs poo Envy

I've only ever not picked up my dogs poo a couple of times and that's because I've ran out of bags/stupidly not had any. I actually asked a man for a bag and he had nothing but a rubber glove that he offered me and I managed to scoop it into that Envy

Wynturphelle · 14/01/2022 17:10

Someone in our town was caught on a ring doorbell letting their dog poo right outside the front door. The home owner posted details on local Facebook group. The owner of the dog came forward, despite the many complaints of other residents, and basically argued that she was a visitor to the area and that all the bad-mouthing had made her feel very 'unwelcome'! How can you ever expect people with that attitude to think of others?!

Crayzeefrog · 14/01/2022 17:10

Love the idea that the type of person who lets their dog shit all over the place then goes home, gives the kids dinner, puts them to bed and then has a scroll through MN with their glass of Pinot on a Friday evening. I don’t think this is your target demographic Op.

MyFirstHypnosis · 14/01/2022 17:11

Astonished that people admit to not picking up off-path/on moorland i.e. where children play.

Wineat5isfine · 14/01/2022 17:11

One of my neighbours has 3 dogs, she’s in her seventies and can’t bend down / move easily, so she just lets them out on our road and the dogs foul on our front gardens. Makes us so angry - not just for that, but putting the dogs safety at risk!

stuntbubbles · 14/01/2022 17:13

Someone near me obviously carries neon pink spray paint to help the dog poo show up. I might copy as it's very useful!
Apparently it does work to reduce the problem! Has to be biodegradable paint, obv. Might start doing it too.

Dobbysgotthesocks · 14/01/2022 17:15

@stillwaitingonaring

See I've always wondered why don't horse riders pick up there horse shit! Massive chunks off it just left in the middle of the road on a regular basis. It's absolutely rank 😫
Because horse mess isn't dangerous or nasty unlike dog mess. And how the hell are riders supposed to clear up, carry the mess and control half a tonne on animal at the same time? 🙄
Booklover3 · 14/01/2022 17:16

I always pick it up and do try even when it’s really runny. When it’s runny I try to wash it down. She will make herself go even if she doesn’t need to go… I think that’s why sometimes it’s not solid.

Whydoesthecatalwaysdothat · 14/01/2022 17:23

Semi-rural village here and lots of dog poo in black bags.

What's all the about? Put it in a poo bag and throw it in the hedge?

TimeForTheChristmasTree · 14/01/2022 17:24

I’ve just this minute finished cleaning dog poo of my 6yo’s shoe.

No, I don’t want to say hello to your dog. Bugger off, my DD has just stepped in dog shit.

Yes, she’s nervous of dogs, as they frequently run at her, some have knocked her over when smaller. Her Gran was bitten badly.

I’m not offended that you don’t want to meet my kids. We love them and they’re special to us, but not to anyone outside of friends and family.

So no, I don’t want to meet or say hello to your dog. Don’t be offended, not everyone loves dogs.

Thanks OP! Feels great to have got that off my chest!

whoopstheregoesmyshouldet · 14/01/2022 17:24

Dog owner and never ever not picked it up. Our streets are full of easily pick up poos that some lazy tw*ts are leaving. It incenses me

Dobbysgotthesocks · 14/01/2022 17:24

Farm land is in no way the same as a public highway. Horses should be kept to bridal paths, they have no business on roads.

Horse shit getting stuck into the tread of tyres is so so dangerous, especially for motorcyclists. It can make the wheel lose its grip and causes accidents, increases skidding etc. Riders can even fall off their bikes. People have died from it.

But it's a great fertiliser so never mind.

@Arethechildreninbedyet

What utter garbage you spout!!! Horses absolutely DO have every right to be on a public road! People like you give me utter rage! Horse pop is not remotely dangerous. No more dangerous than mud! If a cyclist or Walker is stupid enough to slip in it that's on them. Nobody has died from horse pop what utter tosh!

LuckyAmy1986 · 14/01/2022 17:28

One thing I have noticed is that those who walk their dogs staring at their phones tend to not notice their dog has stopped..especially if they are off lead

@StillMedusa

Maybe pretending rather than tending? That's what I reckon anyway!

CliantheLang · 14/01/2022 17:31

I always picked up when I lived in a small town where there was very little traffic and trash bins everywhere. I don't now because I live in a high traffic area and would literally get run over if I stopped to pick up.

My not-so-humble opinion is that trucks, automobiles and motorcycles are much more dangerous than dog shit. YMMV.

LuckyAmy1986 · 14/01/2022 17:33

Couple of people have asked where is this happening? I can safely say that if I go on a 10 minute walk from house and back, I will see probably about 7-8 poos every day not picked up. Every day. I think people take their dogs out when it's dark and cold and assumes no one will see them. It's worse in winter.
We have to dodge doo poo every morning on the school run. Sometimes unsuccessful.
You daren't go on a walk here in the evenings without a torch. you WILL step in dog shit.

cafesandbookshops · 14/01/2022 17:37

I will always pick up my dogs poo unless I run out of poo bags which happens very occasionally. Even then, I try and ask passers by or something if they have one.

Amelion · 14/01/2022 17:40

Depends where it is but I think it’s either owners that can’t be bothered or owners that haven’t noticed. I have a dog - and pick up her poo - but in walking her around the park I’m always seeing owners miles from their dogs not paying attention. If I can see the owner I’ll wave or try and get their attention but honestly sometimes there’s dogs around doing a poo and nobody keeping an eye on them. I’m not excusing their behaviour by the way - it really annoys me as a responsible dog owner who walks in dog poo when I’m running/walking my dog etc.
