If you don't pick up your dogs shit in the street:

A.) What is your excuse/excuses

B.) Do you worry about stepping in dog shit in your neighborhood, or you don't care if it happened.

C.) Does the thought of someone getting your dogs shit on their shoes/pram/wheelchair/ a small child falling in it make you feel GUILTY/INDIFFERENT/HAPPY.

you are anonymous, AIBU to want you to actually admit it and explain yourself

@RicherThanYew

Because I'm an enormous bellend with shrivelled balls and I'm so important on this planet that I can't possibly do something as trivial as picking up my own shit. I'm just a bit of a wanker tbh

@EightNationNavy

In my experience, the amount of un picked up poo always goes up in school holidays - so easily-disgusted kids being forced to walk the family dogs are part of the picture. Otherwise there's v little "naked poo" round our way.

I'd love to see an analysis around the bagging and flinging into a hedge or tree though! I've even been tempted to put up a notice asking the flingers to just leave their bags nearly at the side of the path. I collect retrievable bags like that and pop them in the (carrier bag sized) bag with my own dog's copious poos. Would rather do that than see the eyesore of full poo bags hanging high in the hedges day after day. The modern day equivalent of the heads on spikes at the Tower of London !!

This was me.

We had a dog from when I was ten and from 3pm and all the school holidays I was expected to do all the walking/care. I was about twelve/thirteen and having to go out with a dog at 7am in the morning in December or out after school in the pissing down rain and it just wasn't on my list of priorities.

In hindsight, whilst yes of course I should have picked it up, I was also twelve and shouldn't have been responsible for walking the family dog EVERY day.

BeMoreGoldfish · 14/01/2022 15:16

I think some owners deliberately pretend not to see their dog’s shitting so they don’t have to pick it up, unless someone notices and then they feign ignorance Hmm.

A huge number of dog owners round my way don’t clean up (or worse put it in a bag and leave it) and now we’ve been overrun by fucking pandemic puppies the problem has escalated exponentially! Angry

jungleIP · 14/01/2022 15:16

@stillwaitingonaring

See I've always wondered why don't horse riders pick up there horse shit! Massive chunks off it just left in the middle of the road on a regular basis. It's absolutely rank 😫

They're herbivores so it really doesn't smell that bad and nobody is picking up horse mess

AmberRoseGold · 14/01/2022 15:16

My dog poos and wees in the gutter. I pick up other dogs’ poo. Just find it repulsive. But there are some really crappy owners out there tbh

Needthesun · 14/01/2022 15:17

Around here it’s always worse first thing in the morning as we walk to school - dog walkers on late night or early morning walks clearly not bothering as nobody is around. I can’t get my head around it tbh

AmberRoseGold · 14/01/2022 15:17

And yes have seen people ignore dogs on their leads as they poo!! Incredible

TheFlis12345 · 14/01/2022 15:19

I will probably get flamed for saying this but when I see dog owners being shamed on local social media groups for not picking up their dogs poop, 95% of the time it is a middle aged bloke, as demonstrated by the inevitable Ring doorbell images.

stuntbubbles · 14/01/2022 15:20

Horse poo is fine AND you can collect it and leave it to compost down and it’s fantastic for your garden. Can’t say the same for dog poo.

3WildOnes · 14/01/2022 15:22

I don’t think people do it on purpose. I occasionally see dog poo left in our local park and their owners are either distracted on their phones or talking/playing with their kids and just don’t notice. I’ve never seen someone see their dog poo and then just leave it.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 14/01/2022 15:22

One of the reasons I don't have a dog is the thought of picking up poo and feeling the warmth through a thin plastic bag or smelling it makes my stomach churn. I can only imagine others feel the same but think it's ok to leave it for others to deal with/step in etc and selfishly put their want for a pet above their desire/capability to clear up after it responsibly

That's just not even remotely acceptable. If you are going to take a barrel of toxic waste for a walk in a public area, knowing that part of the purpose of the walk is that the barrel will leak at some point, you'd better be fucking watching!
CookieMumsters · 14/01/2022 15:24

I do pick up after Ddog, because I hate the thought of it getting onto someone's shoe / pram / wheelchair, but I've never though 'best pick that up in case a child falls over and lands in it' bit of a stretch for my mind really.

I despise this attitude. If you're taking an animal out in public you should clean up after it. It's size/species regardless.

The amount of times we're driving through the country and there's just mounds of horse shit that we have to drive through is infuriating. People also walk/cycle down these lanes and it's unfair for other road users.

pollypokcet · 14/01/2022 15:27

Horses are fine, what's the problem with them? Don't walk in the road, that might solve it?

Horse poo on tires isn't an issue unless you never cycle in mud or take your bike in your house. It does not stink like dogs or humans

Momicrone · 14/01/2022 15:27

I think dog owners only pick up if there are people around and even then I think they hover as if they are about to do it and then as soon as you pass they stop

Isaw3ships · 14/01/2022 15:28

I always pick up.Always. But the ones I have seen who don’t - and yes I have said something to them- are ALWAYS men. Always.

LuluBlakey1 · 14/01/2022 15:29

I've been for a walk on Tynemouth beach this morning. As Ds2 and I were coming off the beach, a big white dog jumped down from the prom onto the beach and did a huge shit. The bloke it was with- 40s, dressed in decent waterproof jacket, woolly hat and jeans, carrying a lead and ball thrower, ignored the dog so I said politely. 'Your dog has just done a poo over there- if you didn't see it'.
He looked irritated and said 'Yeah, I am just coming down now to pick it up'.
We went up onto the prom as he went down onto the beach and made a 3 second pretence of looking for the shit - nowhere near where it was- and started to walk off.
I called after him 'It's here by the seaweed.'
He saw there were other people watching and came back and picked it up in a poop bag. Then said to me nastily ' Who the fuck do you think you are ?'
I said nicely, 'Just somebody who cares about where I live and doesn't think my son should be playing in dog shit because somebody can't be bothered to pick up after his dog.'
'Fuck off' he said and walked off.
I wouldn't have been brave enough if the other two people hadn't been there but it drives me mad.
🤬🤬🤬

Snooper22 · 14/01/2022 15:30

I dont take my dogs in the street to shit, they go in the fields and woods.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 14/01/2022 15:30

Can't pick up if it's too runny, so if I know that's coming I shove them on the road and not the pavement.

Once or twice I'd run out of baggies, and there was no one I could have asked for one, so I didn't pick up. I'm usually very good with that and most dog owners are happy to help you out with a baggie or two.

A few times I wasn't able to pick up because the idiots did in in a bit pile of leaves and finding brown coloured dog poo in a pile of brown leaves is only possible on a cold day when it's steamy.

So that's my confessions.

That’s bullshit. And I’ll tell you why, because dog owners don’t want to step in shit anymore than anyone else. They don’t want to slip in it. Or have anyone else slip in it. Or have kids touch it - their kids or anyone else’s
Yes there are some who are too fecking lazy or entitles or whatever but they’re in the minority.

LuluBlakey1 · 14/01/2022 15:31

The same thing happened last summer but it was a couple- the bloke was ok but the woman shouted at me 'Who are you like- the beach warden?'

LuluBlakey1 · 14/01/2022 15:31

Soubriquet · 14/01/2022 15:31

Regarding the stick and flick, there’s a woods not far from me.

There are signs everywhere telling you up stick and flick dog poo off the path.

They would rather that, than bags being left everywhere

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 14/01/2022 15:32

I've never left a dog poo but I have left a child's poo before.

Took my potty trained DS out for a nice long walk around a woodland walk. Exactly half way round (so furthest point from the car) DS declared he needed a poo. No toilets. Couldn't get back to the car in time. Took him in a bush and had to wipe his bum with leaves and leave it there.

Felt bad about it but did what I had to do in the moment!
