Why does my DH do a stinky poo in the en-suite just before bed time! He has all day, all evening watching tv, yet he waits till I'm in bed before going. Great thing is the walls are great, so I don't hear anything, but my goodness, the smell!!!!!
It's the last thing I want just before dozing off.

I've never said anything as he would possibly be embarrassed and also possibly start holding it in, which isn't great.

I've never understood this bathroom in your bedroom thing.

I know it's his body clock etc but can i ask him to go at other times or will i be U?

@liveforsummer

Oh god I'd hate this and after the posts on here about poo crumbs in bed it would definitely be a worry whether he'd cleaned his hairy arse properly or not. Way more than any other time of day when not lying sharing a space beside me directly after, when that wouldn't cross my mind.

Poo crumbs 🤣🤣

BeaLola · 12/01/2022 20:49

@Tinkletwat

Aesop's post poo drops if you can't get him to use a different loo
Was going to suggest these too Smile

But I would still mention it -You are married after all

User48751490 · 12/01/2022 20:51

And this is why I hate the idea of an ensuite bathroom 💩

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 12/01/2022 22:44

@MintyGreenDream. Wouldn't the industrial freshener smell like portaloos though? Would be lovely if he just rescheduled it.

@rosiepickle, a portaloo in the garden sounds good 😅.

@TheOccupier
*I have the solution: put a bolt on the bedroom side of the door between the bathroom and the bedroom, and bolt it when DH goes in for his nightly poo. Your DH will then be forced to exit the loo via the hallway, preventing the poo smell from escaping into the bedroom.

Obviously, as you don't discuss bodily functions, you must not mention the bolt. Just put it up when he's not there and close it quietly once he's in there. He will get the message. wink*
🤣🤣, I love this, I would plead ignorance 😅.

@Willthewashingeverend,
Oh that's worse, it's bad enough from a DH than from a flatmate. I never had this issue all my flat share years.
It does seem to linger for a good 30-40 minutes.

@shouldistop, it's a one bed flat, so chances of it wafting into the bedroom are high. Maybe if I change meal times, he'll go at a different time 🤔🤞.

@liveforsummer, Oh don't mention crumbs 🤮, it's bad enough with just the smell 🤭.

@pistachioicecream, thanks, will try any and every thing. Wouldn't mind if it didn't smell so bad.

@teaandtoastwithmarmite, Oh my goodness!!! It's bad enough some hotels having the bathtub in the room! 🙈

@mumofmunchkin, will try but just wish he'd go a different time. We are in the living room most of the time, of which he could use the loo, shut the living room door and I'd be non the wiser. But he has to wait till I'm practically in bed.

@Cryalot2, sorry about your chronic conditions. DH doesn't have any. Of he did, it would be more understandable.

@Ikona, we stopped using bleach as I'd choke on the fumes, no matter how little he used. Will change meals times and see if it helps.

@iheartredsquirrels, were definitely, absolutey not having one when we move! It is disgusting.

@ufucoffee, 🤣🤣, that would be the first time I'd have sworn, he might take it seriously 😅.

@BeaLola, I'll try and mention it 🤞. Will also try changing meal times, can only hope.

@User48751490, absolutely over-hiped, staying away from them in future.

@teaandtoastwithmarmite

Once we went to New York and our bathroom was a glass cubicle in the middle of the hotel room. If anyone wanted a poo the other person had to go on the balcony Grin Total sex killer
@teaandtoastwithmarmite

that's pretty grim to have to go on the balcony......

think of the people below.

Haven’t read the full thread so sorry if this has been covered, but buy poo drops. Honestly it’s a game changer and immediately solves the issue if he uses it after flushing.

Thanks but we have these and the spray. They help somewhat but not completely, a lot of the smell still escapes and it's not pleasant.

On top of those two, we have a sensored spray that goes off every time someone enters the bathroom as well as a candle & matches. Still, it stinks 🤭.

Since the bathroom has a hallway door, why not find a builder/joiner/handyman to take off the bedroom/en suite door and architrave, block up the doorway with a stud wall, plaster both sides.

Then you’ve got a normal bathroom and DH’s nightly poo waft can be contained to the hallway. The bathroom is more spacious as now you’ve got usable wall instead of two doors, so can add storage – bulk supply of matches and poo drops? – and the bedroom too, you can have an accent chair or whatever you please instead of a portal to nightmare poo town.

Small price to pay for poo-free sleep.

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 13/01/2022 09:39

Get him to flush, so poo, flush, then wipe and flush

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 13/01/2022 22:43

Thanks @stuntbubbles, sounds like a good idea. Would have to save up for a while. In the meantime 🤭.

@MaybeHeIsMyCat, 🤣🤣, gosh can't imagine telling him that. I'll try and light a candle every evening before he goes in.

@Xmasgetaway

My DH is banned from pooing in the private toilet in the room if we’re staying in a hotel - I make him use the main ones for everyone. If we had an en-suite it would be a strictly pop-free zone. That’s totally rank and worse so before bed! How can you not say anything?!

I would too if it wasn't for the stink.
