To think I can eat this and lose weight?

Struggling to lose half a stone🙄

I do a spin class every day for 30 mins, this is what I ate today and kind of typical for me:

Breakfast
1 slice low carb bread with peanut butter
2 black coffees

Snacks:
1 Maryland cookie
2segments of chocolate Orange

Dinner:
Salmon fillet
Jacket potato with cheese
Roasted broccoli and cauliflower with grated parmesan

AIBU to think even with the two naughty slip ups I should still be able to lose weight given that I exercise every single day?!

I dont think its a problem
To have the odd treat.

Could you cut at
Least one of the two kinds of cheese on your evening meal?

Postdatedpandemic · 11/01/2022 21:02

You'd do better if you could mange your five a day.
Do you take vitamin tablets to make up for the lack of nutrients?

Danikm151 · 11/01/2022 21:02

Where’s your lunch?
Your body needs fuel to keep going.

Oh great, we all love a competitive under-eating thread! Yay!

bendywendygivemeablast · 11/01/2022 21:03

Yes, I wouldn't usually have cheese on the veg tbh, I'm just trying everything I can to get my dd to eat vegetables at the moment.

I’d be starving just eating that. Where’s lunch?

Why are you referring to your planned snacks as “naughty slip ups”?

TheUndoingProject · 11/01/2022 21:04

Do you do any strength training? I think it would be a good idea to mix up the type of exercise you’re doing. For weight loss diet is really key though so I’d try and focus on more veg and protein.

Windyone · 11/01/2022 21:04

If you’re losing weight it’s fine. If you’re not losing weight you will need to cut some calories.

PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2022 21:05

How many calories do you think that is?

RaininSummer · 11/01/2022 21:05

I don't understand why you are having such a limited breakfast and no lunch but eating chocolate and biscuits. Try eating actual food for meals and you may not need snacks.

Sparklesocks · 11/01/2022 21:06

Seems like you’re surviving on a biscuit and a bit of fruit between breakfast and dinner. Not particularly healthy and you’re likely to get hungry so risk eating something else.

HelloBunny · 11/01/2022 21:06

I’d have a big salad for lunch, loads of variety. And switch the goodies for fruit (and have goodies on the days you feel like it).

Pinchofnom · 11/01/2022 21:06

I’d suggest working out your calorie deficit and ensure you stay within your deficit.

I know people who lose weight consistently and eat a fair amount of shit but always stay within their deficit.

I was strength training, I stopped just before Christmas, I'll start again tomorrow and see if it makes any difference. I've lost a lot, it's just the last half a stone that won't budge!

I do love a good old MN competitive undereating thread.

Do you actually have half a stone to lose OP? If you're exercising everyday, I'm surprised you haven't fainted from so little food.

PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2022 21:07

What do you weight? Is your bmi in the healthy range now?

ILoveAllRainbowsx · 11/01/2022 21:08

If you cut out the snacks then you should definitely lose weight.

Can you try nuts or carrot sticks instead of the snacks?

Or even prunes. They taste like sweets but I'm much better for you and your gut. Tesco do packs of soft prunes which are delicious.

phishy · 11/01/2022 21:08

That diet makes no sense.

There is no point in having low carb bread if you’re going to follow it up with peanut butter, a Maryland cookie, 2 segments of chocolate Orange, a jacket potato.

You need to cut out the sugar at least. Switch it for Greek yoghurt with a handful of nuts or raspberries.

bendywendygivemeablast · 11/01/2022 21:09

Yes, my BMI is towards the higher end of a healthy range now. I just want to be where I was before I had my two children.

I know I should cut out the bad snacks and have a salad or similar for lunch but time is always the issue.

Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write.

Prunes do not taste like sweets.

Thank you, this is good and quick!

Are you not starving on that? The minimal breakfast and no lunch would leave me feeling sick if combined with sugary snacks (although I seem to be quite sensitive to sugar, can’t have it on an empty stomach).

PurpleDaisies · 11/01/2022 21:09

You’re not not losing weight from one cookie and a couple of bits of chocolate.

pregnantncnc · 11/01/2022 21:10

It doesn't sound like you're eating ENOUGH to me.

A better idea would be (keeping it as similar as possible):

Breakfast - low carb bread with peanut butter, a sprinkling of seeds like flax/chia/hemp and some berries

Snack - Greek yoghurt and satsuma, cookie and chocolate orange segments

Lunch - chicken and boiled egg salad with olive oil based dressing. Or a Chicken and lentil broth soup (with veg like celery, carrots, kale in) and some avocado with salt.

Dinner - Salmon fillet, jacket potato with cheese, roasted broccoli and cauliflower with parmesan.

Also, varying your exercise would be more helpful for weight loss than doing the same thing every day - easier said than done, though.
