Woman across the street staring into my house

Littlejayx · 07/01/2022 13:57

I live on a busy road in a large village, over the past few weeks I have been home more due to home working starting up again. I used to get alerts from my lighting system that ‘living room had been triggered’ and thought it must be passing traffic, until I was sat down working today to see a neighbour stood scouring my whole living room (not seeing me due to positioning) then light sensor turned on (was off as I hadn’t moved)

I’ve had quite a few run ins with her about letting her dog foul outside my front door/drive, using my bins and trying to stop my Gardner trimming hedges. What do I do? 😩 last time I spoke to her she shouted at me on the street and threatened to report me for assault!

I’m living alone with two young children and hate the thought of her stood looking in my house

What a weirdo!

Lolabray · 08/01/2022 21:26

@ Experiment627

I want to know what happens!

Why? It’s not something to be excited or smile about. What if this woman was a stalker ? The lady has children in her home fgs

Eve76 · 08/01/2022 21:32

Ask yourself what you would do if it was a man staring in , then do that . However the alarm going off is a brilliant idea !

LadyOfMisrule · 08/01/2022 21:34

I know it’s the wrong time of year for sprinklers. But…

LittleMG · 08/01/2022 21:39

Omg!!!! The cheek!!!

WiddlinDiddlin · 08/01/2022 21:42

Can you move your log store to your back garden - i suspect if shes brazen enough to come in, in broad daylight, nosey through your windows to see if you're around and then pinch logs.. shes brazen enough to smash the lock off or rip the door off its hinges to keep stealing wood.

EmmaH2022 · 08/01/2022 21:58

@Littlejayx

Update - I have just seen said neighbour walking out of my drive as we were pulling in from a day out, but had to do a turn around to park and she was running off to her house ( think across the round down 3) with a big bag of something. On investigation I’ve disturbed her taking some of my logs from the log store on the drive!!!! Now is that actual theft or not ?! I had a sleeping toddler so couldn’t run after her 😩
You have this in camera? That proves theft.
Passtherioja · 08/01/2022 22:07

Try some of this on whatever she needs to touch to open the log store, just remember that it's on there yourself!!)

Get a ring doorbell and point it towards the log storage area as it will record her entering your property and attempted theft. The police have evidence to have a word with her then which will hopefully put a stop to it.

CherryPieface · 08/01/2022 22:21

You can also report to police online if that’s easier for you. Good luck OP x

Ddot · 08/01/2022 22:24

Film her a few times then report to police, I dare say she is doing the bloody same thing to your neighbours

BrotherHelp · 08/01/2022 22:29

For all the jokey suggestions, someone coming to stare in your window 3/4 times a week is inhinged and I’d worry they would move onto something else. Get a ring door bell or even a cheap motion activated indoor camera pointing out the window but not obvious and go to the police ASAP.

E17Stowmum · 08/01/2022 22:29

Try beckoning.

Chimley · 08/01/2022 22:30

How would you feel about asking her for your logs back?

skybluee · 08/01/2022 22:31

I'd try the alarm thing first. It might stop her without it escalating. Failing that I'd very obviously stand there taking pictures of her with the flash on. You definitely need a security camera too.

Cas112 · 08/01/2022 22:32

I would leave a sign on your window for a couple of days saying stop coming in my yard and looking in my living room. I know it sounds abit odd but she will know you know and you haven't actually had to confront her then and she should hopefully stop due to embarrassment of being caught

Sprucewillis · 08/01/2022 22:37

If this was a man you would report it. REPORT it. The police can have a word. Get a few pictures of her doing it for evidence first. She's stalking and intimidating you OP.

Popsicle33 · 08/01/2022 22:40

I'd report her for theft and trespass. I'd also get cameras and put a note up. I'd be utterly furious!

Hawkins001 · 08/01/2022 22:42

Certainly seems unusual.

TooMuchSugar22 · 08/01/2022 22:45

Hand a note in log store saying 'smile you're on camera'

Hugoslavia · 08/01/2022 22:52

I would be logging and contacting the police at this point. You can photograph her footprints as well. It's all evidence. If you put a ruler next to the footprint, the police will be able to use it as evidence.

Lullab · 08/01/2022 22:55

Start taking photos of her as she stands there. Should worry her a bit, but if not you will have some evidence if you want to report her.

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 08/01/2022 22:56

I think this definitely needs a call to the police for some advice Op. Are you on your own with the children?

ENDOFMESSAGE · 08/01/2022 22:57

Window film is the way forward Flowers

IamtheDevilsAvocado · 08/01/2022 23:11

@Hemingwayscatz

Get reflective film, shutter blinds or both. Put a big hedge or bush in front of the window as well.
I wouldn't be doing anything that the odd woman could hide behind. As in if she were between a hedge/wall and the window.... That way OP couldn't see her if she were approaching the house easily.

Not good
