Toddlers are so irritating

MiniPumpkin · 04/01/2022 10:12

I remember years ago seeing a meme about how toddlers are the most irritating thing in the world. I feel like this today. Constant cheek from my 3year old dd, used the naughty step this morning and i got ‘you can’t do this to people’ and ‘I’m going to my grans’.
Save me 🤣
Yanbu- yes this is a hard stage
Yabu- no they are lovely, get over it

My 3 yr old has just told me that the lady on the telly ( fairy washing capsules add) wants her baby's clothes to be nice and soft so I should want that too and get the same washing powder 🤣

NormanStangerson · 04/01/2022 18:45

My toddler repeatedly hit himself in the head with a wooden spoon today, to give himself a reason to cry. I let him crack on.

ancientgran · 04/01/2022 18:45

They are funny as well.

You stuck watching Nick Jr, too? You can’t move for Vogue Williams and her piles of laundry on there.

The only thing more annoying than your own toddler is other people’s toddlers.

Unpopular opinion I know.

3scape · 04/01/2022 18:47

Cuter than teens

Scotabroad24 · 04/01/2022 18:49

@Yebbie

We have to say good morning to our toddler every single night at bed time, because if we say good night he screams "NO. ITS. MORNINGGGG" like a possessed child. It's been going on for a solid 3 months. At random times throughout the day he will look outside and says "it's morning mummy" and if I dare say "I think it's afternoon now" I get the same. So it's always morning here. Brew

This is brilliant Grin
Never argue with a toddler!

Onatree · 04/01/2022 18:52

I have a 23 month old who’s 2 soon and thus naturally a twonager with proper mood swings and strops.

I also have a 6 year old whose remarkable argumentative skills leave my jaw on the floor regularly.

When they are teenagers I shall possibly die.

I actually find my own far more annoying where others are just pure entertainment!
Antsgomarching · 04/01/2022 18:52

My DD (2) demanded to be lifted into her ballpit and then immediately started crying because she was in the ballpit. 😑

I'll raise you the attitude of a 9 year old! I fear I may be hitting the gin a bit too frequently in a few years!!!
Antsgomarching · 04/01/2022 18:57

Also now has to go to sleep holding a spoon, won’t go to bed without her spoon.

cherrytopcake · 04/01/2022 19:01

Lunch is lunch. Dinner is lunch with my three year old... every single meal time. Ok whatever. Call it what you want Smile

Scotabroad24 · 04/01/2022 19:02

These are scaring the life out of me Grin I have a 13 month old who is already so stubborn and strong willed! He throws himself on the floor banging fists if I dare take my keys/phone/remote or whatever else he shouldn't have off of him! Dreading the terrible 2's with him

Other people's toddlers are great.

You can give them back to their parents!

Or walk very fast away from them!

Mollie5 · 04/01/2022 19:14

My 18 month has to nap holding a blanket, his cup and the TV remote control 🤦🏼‍♀️

My dad use to fall asleep holding those...
Danikm151 · 04/01/2022 19:25

My son has taken to saying bye and pointing at the door to tell me to go away 😂

Also copies me and tells the cat noooooo… when she’s just lying about

MiniPumpkin · 04/01/2022 19:49

That’s my little darling sleeping now, still can’t get over being told ‘you can’t do this to people’ 🤣 I mean where did she get that from ?? Tonight I was told I am her ‘best’ (friend). Sweet. Until the fun begins again tomorrow. Oh wait it’s nursery tomorrow Grin

That’s hard @doadeer. I’m a special needs teacher, don’t think my son has SN but do wonder fairly frequently and his behaviour is so appalling it makes me feel different and embarrassed. Speech delay is really really common at this point, so I hope things improve for you/them soon.
All of these posts seem to be about cheeky comments and tantrums but my 3yo has become physically violent towards me and it’s horrendous. Not even faintly cute. Feel quite depressed and tired overwhelmed a lot of the time. Christmas was horrible. Have been near-isolating because I’m due to give birth any minute and feel like a human punch bag just trapped in the house with a child I find it increasingly difficult to like or enjoy.
So if anyone else is reading this and doesn’t have funny stories but instead feels like they’re doing a rubbish job and their child is actually unpleasant and unmanageable please know you’re not alone. Though maybe I am.

Lavender24 · 04/01/2022 19:59

"You can't do this to people" hahaha 😂

My three year old is going though a phase of screaming the house down like she's being tortured when we attempt to put her to bed. Last night I said "DD you can't scream like that" and she informed me "Yes I can".

This morning she also said "Get out the fucking cupboard" and "get off the fucking chair" randomly whilst pottering about. I have NEVER said either of these things to her. I'll admit I often don't realise I swear so she's obviously heard me say fucking in conversation to DH and is inserting it into her own sentences. I'm terrified she's going to say tbis at nursery and they're going to think I verbally abuse her 😳 Definitely getting a swear jar!!

HeyUpits2022 · 04/01/2022 20:05

DD is nearly 6. DH and I are counting the seconds until 8.45 am tomorrow when the little monster goes back to school.

Then we're going to lie very still in a quiet, dark, room until 3.30 pm.

watchingrnfire · 04/01/2022 20:23

I love newborn & toddler stage. People call me crazy. It's the 8-9-10 year old stage that I hate!! A lot of cheek! At least at 3 years old it's funny and cute, later on it becomes rude and disrespectful lol

IHateWasps · 04/01/2022 20:29

Three year olds aren't toddlers. They stop being toddlers when they turn three. They're still little horrors though.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2022 20:30

Two was easier than three and a half to four tbh

Next level of demanding
