Toddlers are so irritating

MiniPumpkin · 04/01/2022 10:12

I remember years ago seeing a meme about how toddlers are the most irritating thing in the world. I feel like this today. Constant cheek from my 3year old dd, used the naughty step this morning and i got ‘you can’t do this to people’ and ‘I’m going to my grans’.
Save me 🤣
Yanbu- yes this is a hard stage
Yabu- no they are lovely, get over it

Wait to the teenager phase.... Toddlers are easy compared to teenagers Grin

usethedata · 04/01/2022 13:41

@Essemce I totally disagree! With the age gap I have I have two teens and a toddler and the teens are a breeze!

Sandrine1982 · 04/01/2022 13:44

Our nursery is still closed today and I'm DYING!! I don't know how my mental health will recover after the long Christmas break with a 2.5 year old. She's fucking relentless...

DeadButDelicious · 04/01/2022 14:04

I don't know who was more excited this morning about school starting again me or her it was me. The reception playground was full of mums and dads with the very noticeable thousand mile stare of someone who had not had a moments silence for the entire two week holiday. The break for the gate once the doors opened and the little monsters angels were safely inside was something to behold Grin. DD is 5 and good god can she talk. About NOTHING. Just this constant stream of consciousness, rabbiting on and on and on and on. I got in this morning and promptly fell asleep for a good couple of hours. It's relentless.

mummydoingamasters · 04/01/2022 14:08

Tried to say goodbye to DD 2.5 and I got 'you're not pretty mummy'

Yep. Cheers 🖕🏻

Comedycook · 04/01/2022 14:11

Toddlers and teenagers are the absolute worst stages imo.

I love babies and primary age is great. Would rather look after multiple newborns than one toddler!

liveforsummer · 04/01/2022 14:12

Not toddler - threenager! It's worse.

Ellabellaboo2020 · 04/01/2022 14:16

My 1.5 year old has taken to shouting my name rather than mum or mummy so when she wants me it’s “ELLABELLABOO COME HERE NOWWWWWWWW “ I can’t wait until nursery opens again tomorrow and I go back to work lol 😂

Ozanj · 04/01/2022 14:17

My 2 yo is going through a biting phase but he only bites me. When I saw no he pouts and says sadly ‘but you’re my mummy snack’ and so I look like the unreasonable one for saying no. Grin

Hemingwayscatz · 04/01/2022 14:17

My 3 year old cries when I dare to throw his leftovers away even though they have been sat on the table for a good half an hour+ while he’s been off playing. I’ve just started leaving them on the worktop until either the next meal or bedtime if it’s dinner so he won’t throw a tantrum. He never ever eats the leftovers…

Toddlers are pretty relentless. My 17 month old doesn’t like anything on his feet or hands so winter is quite tricky. Earlier in the garden I dared to put socks and wellies on him and he wouldn’t stop screaming until I removed them but then he screamed more because his feet were cold 🤷🏻‍♀️.

They become toddlers all over again when they hit puberty as I’m discovering with my wonderful 11 year old.

MumOfJayJoeAndEms · 04/01/2022 14:35

I'll take your 3 year old and swap for my 63 year old 'D'H...now THAT'S fecking irritating
Give me a bunch of 3 year olds any day!

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2022 14:37

I have teen and 4 year old

The teen is a complete breeze in comparison, he’s very good generally though

Dd is cute etc but a mini tyrant at times. The small stuff - letting her press buttons or food not breaking in half etc

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 04/01/2022 14:39

So funny when they come out with these things

Gorgeous and entertaining but yes very very hard work

doadeer · 04/01/2022 14:41

Ahh my 3 year old is non verbal. I dream of him sassing me 💔

NewtoHolland · 04/01/2022 14:50

My 3.5 year old is ultra sass.
Most commonly used phrase 'No, Never!!' usually applies to things like putting shoes on, eating dinner which we do have to do more often than never unfortunately....When shed just turned 2 she went through an angel phase 'Can I hang my coat up Mummy?' and all sorts...it didn't last long 😂😂😂

StrawberrySanta · 04/01/2022 14:55

My just turned 3yo starts nursery tomorrow, I am feeling a mix of excitement and nerves, but I think it will do him the world of good to mix with other kids his age (and it will give me and his little brother some peace and quiet!) Eek. YANBU btw 😂

Thatsplentyjack · 04/01/2022 14:55

Just wait till they get to 8 and are threatening to call social services because apparently not letting him eat a third packet of crisps of the day is child abuse Hmm.
I also have a neay 14 year old but I won't scare you any further.

Rosebel · 04/01/2022 14:59

My 18 month old is hard work sometimes, other times he's lovely. However I find him easier than my 13 year old😂

Thatsplentyjack · 04/01/2022 15:00

Even the 11 month old has started sassing me. The latest tantrum was because I wouldn't let her eat things out of the bin, so she got hold of the closest thing to the bin (the clothes airer) and started shaking it as hard as she could while doing the gutteral animal scream she does.

roarfeckingroarr · 04/01/2022 15:04

DS is only 14 months and still relentless adorable but I nearly cried when I was told he wasn't booked into nursery today when I tried to take him in.

mumjustmum · 04/01/2022 15:17

I have three. A threenager, and twin two year olds. I get a lot of "no not mummy. I want daddy/Auntie better/ Grannie" from my three year old. "I not go in mummy's car, I go with auntie better, I stay with Grannie".

My favourite was my then three year old niece though:
I sat on the loo and shut the door. Niece invited herself in.
"auntie mumjustmum, you're a little bit fat"
Me: "thank you darling"

I mean, I was a 10, but my shorter and younger sister probably an 8. FGS.

Same niece: got into my husbands car after we let her have two ice creams for lunch at the pub (we were childless and had NO CLUE what to do but agree to whatever princess niece wanted). "Uncle , this car is very dirty" complete with horrendous look of disgust at the back seat of the car.

SweetMeadow · 04/01/2022 15:20

I’d never appreciated that ‘well done’, ‘you look lovely’ and ‘good morning’ were such insults until my 3 year old started responding with screams of ‘no, don’t say that/ you can’t say that’. I guess I should be grateful that she allows me to look at her as DP is often told he’s not allowed and gets sent out of a room as soon as he enters it.

MarshaBradyo · 04/01/2022 15:27

That’s funny

I wondered if dd was unusual as sometimes she says this to dh (and me but only if I do something wrong like food a piece of paper)

MmeD · 04/01/2022 15:32

“You can’t do this to people”

I wish I had this level of self esteem, courage and sense of right and wrong!😂.

Fraternaltwin · 04/01/2022 15:36

They certainly are irritating. Especially other peoples’ toddlers. Especially when they’re kicking off in a cafe when you’re trying to have a nice lunch.
