Cream not chocolate ice cream.

Went to a restaurant today and the option was black Forest Gateaux with chocolate ice cream, that just seems wrong to me!

Oh no oh no, flash back of my childhood. Dm gave me a Black Forest Gateaux from age 8 every birthday 🤮. Evil stuff.

(When I was at university my best friend inherited a 1970s fondue set… we held a fantastic 70s dinner party starting with prawn cocktail, then fondue, then a Black Forest gateau, washed down with vodka cocktails and Mateus Rose! Yum! 😍)

Homemade Black Forest gateau is delicious, Delias recipe is very good, light but with a sophisticated flavour, dark chocolate, cherries and Kirsch what's not to like?
Serve with pouring cream obvs.

Personally I hate cream but it should be cream or at a pinch vanilla ice cream wouldn’t be too bad.
Prefer it with nothing.
Just visually chocolate ice cream seems odd.

Should be served in the bin. Nasty stuff! Felt my tastebuds dry up at the thought. Reminds me of the 80s.

Cherries, gooooood. Cake, gooooood. Chocolate, gooooood. Cream, goooooood....

All good solid flavour and texture combinations. I like the idea of serving it with a strong cherry sorbet too, mmmm!

Single cream so it soaks into the sponge.

Not understanding the hate, made well it's delicious. It's hardly prawns in aspic or some other odd 70s confection.

Nothing wrong with chicken fricassee either! Yum!
