DP doesn’t like what he ordered, wants half of mine?

We ordered a takeaway tonight, DP always orders different things, I stick to what I know to avoid this exact scenario

His food has come - he doesn’t like it, he thinks I should half my meal and give it to him as we have sides and it will be enough

It will be enough - but why tf shouldn’t I get my whole meal just because he mis-ordered?!

I told him to order another main and warm up some sides when it gets here, now he’s cutting his nose off to spite his face and says he just won’t eat anything 🙄

Who is BU?

I voted YABU because I know that my DP would eat the dish I didn’t like and give me his, in this scenario. So you should be more generous I’m afraid.

AuntMargo · 29/12/2021 20:27

Don't be so selfish and share !

DynamiteFilledRadish · 29/12/2021 20:35

@Heartbroker

How much food do you really need to eat? There is usually way too food in a takeaway. I find gluttony unattractive in a partner.
How predictable. A thread loosely related to food and some posters leap in delightedly to inform us all how they couldn't possibly eat a whole takeaway. How sad.
user1481840227 · 29/12/2021 20:36

I think YABU.

I'd share no problem.
Think back to when you were first dating, I bet you would have shared then!

He didn't share when the OP had nothing. Why should she? Do you always prioritise the needs and wants of men?
Justrestingmyeyes1 · 29/12/2021 20:46

Why wouldn’t you share. I just don’t understand this.

Maybe, just maybe, she wanted it all. You know, her meal. That she chose for herself.
ICalledYouLastNightFromGlasgow · 29/12/2021 20:59

You're both acting like children

Oblomov21 · 29/12/2021 21:03

He would hack me off. Get him to try new things in his own time.

Why wouldn't you read the thread? I just don't understand this.
caringcarer · 29/12/2021 21:23

My dh is veggie so would not want my meat dish. Wink

HunterGatherer · 29/12/2021 21:27

Such pettiness.

Justrestingmyeyes1 · 29/12/2021 21:32

I did read the whole thread. OP herself said there was enough for them both so why wouldn’t you share.

Justrestingmyeyes1 · 29/12/2021 21:32

Yep

Because HE won't share with HER. So why should she share with him???

I'd be telling him to go away and f...
Man child!

Make sure you make yourself nice and comfy and rub it in..

Gin4thewin4 · 29/12/2021 21:57

I would share and, actually, I would probably offer half of my meal anyway because he is my partner and I love him?
I would like to think he would share his too if the shoe was on the other foot......

The OP however knows that her partner wouldn't share with her so can't really blame her for not wanting to share with him.
again2020 · 29/12/2021 22:05

I don't even like my other half very much 🙈😂 and we always share! It's not even an issue.
The McDonald's thing is selfish though. It seems quite childish.
I find there is heaps of food in a takeaway. There are always left overs. I try to eat healthily and not overindulge too much (apart from at this time of year!) so I give my partner the lion's share of the food. Maybe I'm in the minority here.

thenovice · 29/12/2021 22:06

For better, for worse?

Oldraver · 29/12/2021 22:07

Remind him of the McDonalds incident

Justrestingmyeyes1 · 29/12/2021 22:12

@Butchyrestingface it just seems a bit petty. He’s ordered something and found he doesn’t like it. She has enough for them both but won’t share although I agree that him not sharing his maccy d’s is 🙄

If pettiness means not sharing with someone who is happy for the OP to go hungry, then long live pettiness, I think.

He wants to have his cake and eat it, quite literally in this case. Grin

I would 100% share with my husband and he would with me, but unless my dish was absolutely revolting (which food very rarely is) I would just eat enough to get myself nice and full rather than bother my husband for his meal.

tolerable · 29/12/2021 23:45

wow.
even in the world of everythings all made up- wtf kinda hungry dp is acceptable
did you try his?maybe you will like it.however will you know?
whatever will you do?
