DP doesn’t like what he ordered, wants half of mine?

DietCokeChipsAndMayo · 28/12/2021 21:51

We ordered a takeaway tonight, DP always orders different things, I stick to what I know to avoid this exact scenario

His food has come - he doesn’t like it, he thinks I should half my meal and give it to him as we have sides and it will be enough

It will be enough - but why tf shouldn’t I get my whole meal just because he mis-ordered?!

I told him to order another main and warm up some sides when it gets here, now he’s cutting his nose off to spite his face and says he just won’t eat anything 🙄

Who is BU?

Bleachmycloths · 30/12/2021 03:49

How old is he? 7?

GenerallyVeryUnreasonable · 30/12/2021 04:36

DH and I would both offer to share in this scenario, without having to be asked. It’s just the kind thing to do.

I’d find it funny if he experimented with a new dish and hated it, and I’d also think it was quite a nice trait/quirk of his.

steff13 · 30/12/2021 05:34

@Gin4thewin4

I would share and, actually, I would probably offer half of my meal anyway because he is my partner and I love him? I would like to think he would share his too if the shoe was on the other foot......
Maybe your partner would, but the OP's wouldn't...
TruthHelps80 · 30/12/2021 07:16

To be honest they sound perfectly suited to each other! Both just as petty and mean spirited as each other and I’m baffled that someone felt the need to post this shite in the first place!!

“Well he didn’t give me a chip from McDonald’s so why should I share my food with him even though I have more than enough to share?” If you have more than enough to share, plus sides, holy hell, how huge is your meal!! 🤣
The entire thing sounds batshit crazy to me and if they’re like this over simply sharing food, they’re def made for each other and should continue to behave like this with each other together than split up and then put two other, potentially decent people through this kind of crap 😂
I only saw this because of a google search about takeaways and it’s tickled the shit out of me reading it and all the replies 🤣. What’s scary is the majority of people on this bizarre site agree with OP!! Now that’s friggin scary!!

ElleMac44 · 30/12/2021 08:08

I can't believe you're even asking. You share of course, it's just food. Relax enjoy the meal together and stop being childish.

Dibbydoos · 30/12/2021 08:29

Live life like its your last day. Then decide what to do.

LampBookPicture · 30/12/2021 09:33

"As a female, I could never bring myself to say chippy out loud, I call it the dainty delicatessen of deep fried particulars. I can't imagine hearing the uncouth term chippy escaping the delicate lips of a female."
@WrongWayApricot Perfection. Bravo. I wish I'd written that!

Sillawithans · 30/12/2021 10:01

I can't imagine a world where I wouldn't offer my boyfriend half of my meal.

I can't believe you started a thread about this.

FrenchBoule · 30/12/2021 10:18

I presume OP,that your “D” H can read the menu and decide whether he’s likely to like the meal or not? Surely anybody would be able to assess suitability of the meal?

I would share with my husband but I know he would share his meal with mine.

In your case I wouldn’t share- not only because your “D”H left you hungry when your food didn’t arrive before (that’s appalling) but he decided that you can’t possibly have anything better than him.

It’s all about control here and not food- he wants you to give it away and don’t argue. You might be rewarded by his discarded meal or don’t have any at all- he doesn’t care that you go without (as he proved earlier with MD food) as long as his needs are met (even to your detriment)

He could have ordered the same meal as you but he chose not to.

Hope you enjoyed every morsel of your food and left him to his childish sulking.

Teejaybee · 30/12/2021 10:25

If there is enough food for both of you, I would share. Is this something he consistently does, wants to try different foods but when he doesn't like his food, wants/expects to share yours? That would slightly get on my nerves if he consistently does it, because I think it is quite a selfish notion that in his desire to try different things, if he doesn't like it, he just simply expects to have yours. If it's a one off I really can't see the problem and would probably consider your behaviour to be a bit selfish if it is in fact a one off?

HollowTalk · 30/12/2021 10:29

Has he thrown away the other dish or will he miraculously discover he likes it after he's eaten yours?

anon666 · 30/12/2021 10:31

I'd share in a heartbeat. It's your husband who you share everything with surely?

I think this hints at a long standing resentment at home for not sticking to something safe.

HollowTalk · 30/12/2021 10:42

I think all the people who would readily share have a relationship with an unselfish man. The OP isn't in that category - her partner has proven himself to be a selfish git.

GettingStuffed · 30/12/2021 10:51

We always do a "family style" Chinese so no-one has a specific dish of their own, have you tried your DH ?

QueeniesCroft · 30/12/2021 12:23

Honestly, I can't imagine being able to eat a whole take away from and Indian or Chinese or chippy as a female.

I can't imagine referring to a woman as a "female". Well, you could, but you shouldn't. It's fine for elephants and badgers, but not nearly dainty enough for the likes of me. Indeed, the indelicacy of it makes me feel a little dizzy...

DeliaOwens · 30/12/2021 12:28

OP...I am torn.

Whilst he was a fool to dabble in the dark arts of ordering 'new', if it were the other way around and he had food and you didn't like yours, would you expect him to share?

sopsmum · 30/12/2021 13:10

I would share without being asked. Who eats a whole takeaway portion on their own anyhow.

BorderlineHappy · 30/12/2021 14:25

Me if I ordered it it means I want it.
@DeliaOwens RTFT
Jesus how hard is it to even read the ops if you didn't want to read the whole of 10 pages

LifesTooShortForYourNonsense · 30/12/2021 14:57

This sounds like an argument my pre-teen kids would have. You are both unreasonable.

I said female as it was because of the physical and dietary needs/limits of a girl or woman in comparison to the size of a standard takeaway. I was talking about the female body. Was it that weird or is their some issue with the word female I'm not aware of?
2Rebecca · 30/12/2021 15:41

He is behaving like a small child. The downside of ordering something different is he may not like it. Why can't he eat the sides if there is plenty of them?

Goldbar · 30/12/2021 16:25

People don't tend to order takeaway to meet their dietary needs but because they'd like a treat. So it makes no difference that women's dietary requirements are smaller than men's. Women still don't have to share.

Sparklfairy · 30/12/2021 16:54

@Santaslittlemelter I burn more calories a day than the average man as I work out a lot (over 3k a day). Even before that if I was having a takeaway/restaurant meal i can keep up with any man.

Try broadening your mind outside of your own little restrictive world. You "can't imagine" anyone who isn't like you essentially, and that's pretty self absorbed.

QueeniesCroft · 30/12/2021 17:40

Yes, the use of "female" as a noun is weird unless you are talking about another species. It's not something I see often done by owmen either, usually anyone talking about "a female" is a man (and usually the kind I prefer to avoid, at that).

QueeniesCroft · 30/12/2021 17:40

owmen should be women, obviously!
