Sorry about the daily mail link but this is too shocking not to share. DNR orders placed on teenagers with learning disabilities during pandemic in England.

This is terrifying that it would ever be considered.

@Annna41

I’m very surprised you don’t regularly experience confusion and delirium in ICU patients as it’s known to be very common as a result of the medications and the illness.
I’m assuming you don’t see any acquired brain injuries, significant strokes, delirium, hypoxic patients, those who have pre existing mental health needs and prisoners who may have challenging behaviour etc.

I’ve spent a lot of time in hospitals on a personal and professional level. There are huge challenges for staff to manage individual’s behaviours and complex social care needs and it’s not limited to those who have LD or ASD. It’s clearly a tough job.

@x2boys Thats exactly of what I’m thinking of doing, the LA and his school didn’t mind me keep him home until he had his first jab at the beginning of last term. I’m usually very level headed and not panicky, this is the first time during the pandemic that I’m having a wobble, the world suddenly feels much less safe for vulnerable kids.
My sons school is the same, lots of CEV children, I wish they would allow parents to make the choice of vaxxing their 5-11 year olds. It feels like they have been forgotten.

@JumpingPiglets, you clearly know far more than I do about the situation.
FWIW our bed capacity actually quadrupled during covid but it still didn't touch the sides. I'll estimate around 5-10% of people who needed ITU beds actually got one.
Anyway I'm off to sleep.
