Last year, I was in a couple of classes with a guy from uni. Him and I worked together on a project for a couple of months in a team. I also chatted with him over whatsapp and in person quite often. I bumped into him a few weeks ago and I asked him how he was. He looked at me blankly. He really did not seem to even know who I was. I tried reminding him about when we worked together on that project, but he said I must have confused him with someone else. I have definitely not confused him with someone else. Anyone got a clue as to why he said he does not remember me?

Why does it bother you so much?
He doesn't remember or does and doesn't want to engage with you. Some people are just like that.

LostForIdeas · 28/12/2021 09:31

He didn’t want to speak to you. Whatever the reason.

Is this still going? He's clearly not the man you think he is OP, you've made a mistake.

Twins sometimes don’t say ‘oh it’s my twin’ as they don’t often get a good response and assume people who knew them well, would know. My elder brothers are identical. Many years ago one twin was out with his fiancée and was approached by an angry woman. She wanted to know why he had stood her up. He eventually worked out it must be his brother and told her he was an identical twin. This angered her more. Fiancée thought it was hilarious so didn’t do much to help the situation. It was pre mobile phones so he took the irate woman to the public phone and rang home so she could speak to the offending twin. He apologised for standing her up etc but the woman still didn’t believe it and said it was his mate lying for him. After saying in no uncertain terms what she thought of him, she walked off, even more irate he couldn’t admit it

@ScaredOfOverDiagnosis

00:14steff13 Where are you based? Never heard of Hulu but I'll try and source the film. I can't believe this was done as a social experiment! The example of the twins I gave, the separation was due to a divorce.
I’ve watched it in the uk. It is very sad.

I don't think it's reasonable to speculate that he's pretending not to recognise her. Anyone doing something so odd would have had to have much more of a relationship than is involved in sharing a project. He definitely didn't recognise her, the only reasonable question is if that's because he's someone else, or his memory is bad.

OP has now clarified that he did not confirm he was on the same course/project has her, so despite her certainty, I think on balance of probability she was wrong about it being him.

Several years ago I was driving along our village high street , when I had to stop due to traffic coming the other way, when a man came over and tapped on the window, and started talking to me, it must have clicked after a moment or too that I had no idea who he was, as I was obviously looking rather blankly at him.
He turned round and actually said "you don't know me do you?"
I said "no, sorry"
"Well you look like her" he said, and walked off.

I work in a village not far from the village I work in.
A couple of weeks ago, a colleague came in to the room and started laughing, the conversation was pretty much this...
"I've just seen you walking your dog, I was waving at you, and you look at me as if I was quite mad"
"I don't have a dog now though, she died last year"
"I know" she replied "it just didn't click, she looked like you, same hair, dressed similar to you, and had a GSD just like yours, I couldn't believe it when you didn't acknowledge me, I thought it was a bit rude, It was only when I started thinking about t, Why would RedElephant be walking her dog in this village..? she doesn't live here.? Then it clicked" 🙄Grin
Cue me starting to laugh at/with herGrin
