Hunting for some irish cream tomorrow, but would prefer to go with the best supermarket knock off to save some money, If possible.

Votes please:

YABU - you can't beat the real deal.
YANBU - there is a supermarket brand that comes close (please name!).

Are you mixing it with coffee or drinking it straight?

LadyNell · 22/12/2021 03:00

Aldi definitely or the M and S one is quite nice the Aldi one is very potent

wonkylegs · 22/12/2021 03:22

I really like the Morrison's one more than Baileys

Missey85 · 22/12/2021 06:57

Aldi makes a decent knock off Baileys

Hollyhead · 22/12/2021 07:03

Not the Aldi luxury one? It’s only part whiskey with added ‘spirit’ after an initial nice sip you can taste aw alcohol as an undertone. No idea why it’s so popular, the real deal is only a couple of pounds more.

@PlanetNormal

Why compromise when the real thing is only a tenner a litre?
Because 'the real thing' is often not the nicest one.

As well people genuinely preferring Tesco/Aldi/Morrisons versions, that are often far cheaper than 'only a tenner a litre' lots of other big brands are also, frankly, a bit shit, most things produced by Heinz being the most obvious example of this.

The other day I had a McVities jaffa cake and an M&S one off the same plate and the M&S one was far far nicer. McVities tasted like sweet nothing in comparison.

@Mudflaps

My suggestion isn't a budget version but a beautiful smooth lighter Irish cream liquor called Coole Swan, I seldom drink but this i what I get a bottle of for Christmas, it's delicious. Brought two bottles in airport heading on honeymoon and gave on to the cleaner in the hotel after she in very poor English asked if it was like Baileys!!
I got a bottle of that from Dublin airport a couple of years ago, very nice it was too. I think DP and I drunk most of the bottle in one evening Blush.

This year we have the chocolate coconut one from M&S.

Hallowbat · 23/12/2021 15:29

That should have been 90’s lol oh yes I also used to be partial to vodka & red bull they didn’t mix well at all 🤮

Scraggythang · 23/12/2021 15:35

They’re all shit compared to the real thing. But if I had to be pushed into it Aldi one is actually alright.

TheLadySif · 23/12/2021 21:22

Not Bailey’s but the Disaronno Velvet is gorgeous. Had a bottle last year. This year I have Tia Maria Matcha but haven’t tried it yet.

MissMatty2hats · 23/12/2021 21:33

I’m drinking a glass of Five Farms at the moment and it’s bloody delicious! I think it has ruined me for Baileys.

gluenotsoup · 23/12/2021 21:51

Right, I’m here to drool.
I’m currently in hospital with poorly dd, suffering hospital food and tap water as we are not allowed out of the ward due to Covid.
My tummy is rumbling, my mouth is watering.
Give me some more please!😂

DiscontentedWoman · 23/12/2021 21:54

Aldi Ballycastle is our favourite. I prefer it a bit thinner, and find Baileys a bit too clarty and thick for me. I think the Aldi one is about £4 a bottle? It's not much anyway.

MerryMarigold · 23/12/2021 22:30

Been sipping my Ballycastle tonight. It was 3.75 today in Aldi.

thenightsky · 23/12/2021 22:37

I like the Lidl Delux one that only appears around Xmas.
