to go to a yoga class when my daughter has covid

I have no symptoms. I have numerous negative lateral flow tests.

I'm interested in what other people are doing. (Btw I did a virtual class today and didn't go, but I really missed it).

If you live with your daughter then yes YWBU to go anywhere IMO

Smileyaxolotl1 · 20/12/2021 21:05

Yanbu - you are legally allowed to go and if you have a negative LFT you are highly unlikely to have infectious covid even if you do have covid.

Yogaandcocoa · 20/12/2021 21:07

I agree with this

Whilst you don't legally have to isolate if you are vaccinated (I think that is the rule??) I think morally you should try to stop the spread

You don't need to go to yoga and lateral flow tests are not v accurate

That's just my opinion

Itsnotdeep · 20/12/2021 21:07

ha 2 different answers.

She's a student who's come home for the holidays. Presume she caught it before she came back.

It might be legal where you live but I think it’s morally wrong. Just do your yoga at home for one week !

How would you feel if you gave it to some of your class mates and they missed Christmas because of you?

Itsnotdeep · 20/12/2021 21:09

I didn't go! I stayed at home.

Actually we don't know for sure whether she has it yet. She has all the symptoms and is quite unwell but PCR test is taking days to come back.

urbanbuddha · 20/12/2021 21:11

Chris Whitty would say No.
Johnson would flannel and say what he thought you wanted to hear.
Take your pick.

I wouldn't know. Everyone here knows someone who has it. If you're in a yoga studio, you could get it from anyone else there or in the shop, from your kids, from anyone.
OP posts:
DDivaStar · 20/12/2021 21:11

Its perfectly legal.

However no one will thank you for risking their Christmas for a yoga class. Its one class, for one hour. An online class will be fine for one week.

MumW · 20/12/2021 21:11

Similar position.
Haven't been to my walking group even though it's outside as it might be legally ok and the risk may not be high but I feel it would be morally wrong.

Itsnotdeep · 20/12/2021 21:12

Actually I go every day. It's pretty essential for my mental health.

OP posts:
rrhuth · 20/12/2021 21:12

I think it is antisocial to potentially spread it if it can be avoided. Work is one thing, but yoga is another. I think you did right to stay at home.

Barbadosgirl · 20/12/2021 21:12

YANBU. You are not required to self isolate. You have done a lateral flow. It is negative.

BurntO · 20/12/2021 21:14

For me, no. I’d feel morally responsible. I’d still work if I absolutely couldn’t work from home and I’d get my food. That’s it.

There are many online classes to be done for the sake of 10 days

rrhuth · 20/12/2021 21:14

Still not OK to risk making people actually ill though.

The rules in England are wrong.

mediumbrownmug · 20/12/2021 21:15

I’m a cancer survivor who was lucky enough to have had it before COVID was a thing. I personally couldn’t go. It could end up killing somebody.

StruggleStreet · 20/12/2021 21:16

DH has covid and I’m testing negative with no symptoms. Am not completely isolating, popped out to the shops just now for essentials, but am making a point to keep my distance from people. I don’t think it would be fair to go to something like a yoga class where you’re in an enclosed space with people for a prolonged period. You’d feel awful if you test positive tomorrow.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 20/12/2021 21:17

My son has Covid and we are doing LFTs daily and are allowed out as long as these are negative as we are triple vaccinated but I have refrained from going to the gym although I would like to

I am taking the dog for a walk and having an open air coffee and I have done essential food shopping but I am not doing anything optional that involves being in an enclosed space.

I have to accept that there is a reasonable chance I am going to get it despite the vaccine (I am not up for trying to isolate a small, unwell boy in his room at Christmas and am still giving him cuddles) and I don't want to ruin anyone else's Christmas

Grimbelina · 20/12/2021 21:17

How do you feel about the possibility of infecting someone and the possible consequences of that?

The person who infected me is living with that now, I don't know what that is doing to their mental health. They were so insanely selfish (I am CV amongst other issues) that I don't think I can forgive them their 'choice'.

I am sure you can find an online lesson in the short term. Otherwise own your choice.

greenlynx · 20/12/2021 21:18

I wouldn’t go. Going knowingly is a bit different then going not knowing that you might have Covid.

Itsnotdeep · 20/12/2021 21:19

I suppose I kind of think that a CEV person won't be in the yoga class. They're more likely to be in the supermarket.

OP posts:
luckylavender · 20/12/2021 21:19

@Smileyaxolotl1 - you're unlikely to have infectious covid... where on earth did you get that from? Are you a epidemiologist?

TakeMe2Insanity · 20/12/2021 21:21

We’re in a similar position in that DC has covid and under current rules as our ltfs are negative we can leave the house BUT we haven’t!

urbanbuddha · 20/12/2021 21:22

I suppose I kind of think that a CEV person won't be in the yoga class.

The person in the yoga class might not be CEV but you don't know who they live with or who their contacts are.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 20/12/2021 21:24

I assume you wouldn't wear a mask at the yoga class (I wouldn't at the gym) whereas you would in a supermarket, buying food is often not optional (we had none in as supposed to be away for Christmas) whereas yoga is, the supermarket is a larger space that you will spend less time in than a yoga studio.
