Any of you sleep on wet sheets?

Because my DH thought it would be "fine" to remove a wet sheet from the dryer that had been on for ten minutes and put it on our bed instead of grabbing a dry one from the cupboard. Because apparently, the duvet would have dried it. And our body heatConfused

He seems really annoyed and like I'm stupid not to understand the physics behind body heat and a duvet wicking away moisture, but he's overlooking the fact that this is bollocks and nobody wants to sleep on wet sheets!! I said there was no way that was going on our bed and he sighed the sigh of a long misunderstood man and traipsed downstairs actually dragging the sheet behind him, head down, to return it to the dryer.

AIBU?? Would you like to sleep on a wet sheet instead of a dry one?

@Retrorose

Ha, are we married to the same man? Absolutely the kind of stupid thing my DH would do and then have a strop about me pointing out the idiocy behind his actions. Also why can’t they take things out of cupboards? DH was drying up with one of the kids cardigans despite a there being a stack of tea towels in the linen cupboard. Why?!!!!
I hope the cardigan was at least clean. How stupid though Hmm
MrsSugar · 19/12/2021 00:04

In a sweeping general statement I’d say this is just typical make lazy behaviour. My DH would do exactly the same. To answer ur question though no I would not sleep on a wet sheet n I would have him change it (and no doubt bicker
At doing so lol)

MissCruellaDeVil · 19/12/2021 00:09

During the summer I put my pillowcases in the freezer! That made them damp during the night. Wouldn't do it in December though. Of course you need dry sheets!

loveablequalities · 19/12/2021 00:11

You are married to a child. Quite a stupid, truculent child. I cannot imagine in what way he is appealing. It must be incredibly tedious living with him.

Meatshake · 19/12/2021 00:12

There's nothing more stupid than doubling down on your initial stupidity.

PickAChew · 19/12/2021 00:14

He should feel stupid.

UniversalAunt · 19/12/2021 00:15

Obviously, he’s not slept on the post-coital damp patch…yet.

falalalalalalalallama · 19/12/2021 00:15

Nah, this is madness!

I did once put on my work dress still damp on a very hot sunny day, though as I was running late and it was the only clean thing I had to wear.

Being on a hot tube in summer in a damp dress was actually great! It cooled me down.

I meant to do this again on other hot days but never thought of it in time.

grapewine · 19/12/2021 00:21

FFS, a fully grown man asked this question and is now sulking that you made him feel stupid.

I can't get over how wholly intentionally incompetent some men are.

HoneyFlowers · 19/12/2021 00:25

Oh this thread has made me giggle!

Nanny0gg · 19/12/2021 00:28

@thnack

He took the wet sheet back to the dryer and came back with a dry one, helped me put it on the bed with many a dramatic sigh and now he's sulking because I "made him feel stupid." Because I said it was ridiculous to sleep on wet sheets when we have dry ones and it would be horribly uncomfortable. I only think this though because I don't understand the science behind it. Apparently, we'd actually be far warmer. Just damp.

It sounds fucking dire and I prefer dry and warm.

You didn't 'make him feel stupid'

He did that all by himself.

maras2 · 19/12/2021 00:34

Fecking eejit
Does he not know that you would 'catch your death' (as my old granny used to say) Xmas Grin

gsaoej · 19/12/2021 00:38

You made him feel stupid?
He is fucking stupid!

Next time you need the toilet in the night, no need to get up just piss the bed (on his side) and tell him his body heat will dry it.

Mamanyt · 19/12/2021 00:39

LOL, I have slept on wet sheets, and loved it, but in my defense, it was Florida, it was August, the nighttime temps were in the 80s (F), there was no air conditioning, and I also had a fan turned on the bed. It was the coolest night I'd spent in a week.

TyrannosaurusRights · 19/12/2021 00:41

I think you’re being very unreasonable. You should have let him demonstrate the science while you had a warm, dry night in the spare bed. (Obviously this only works if there is a spare bed)

Seemslikeagoodidea · 19/12/2021 00:48

He could have made this work if he'd used a hair dryer to dry the sheet in situ, before putting the duvet on, but it's daft when it just needed a bit longer in the tumble dryer.

If he 'dragged the sheet downstairs' then put it back in the dryer, then depending how clean the stairs/floors are, the sheet might be grubby and need another wash. Has he no idea about hygene?

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/12/2021 00:51

Apparently, we'd actually be far warmer. Just damp.

He might be stupid but he's funny.

BobbieT1999 · 19/12/2021 01:34

Is your husband a mermaid?

It is the only rational explanation I can think of for his reasoning.

Oh, and for dragging a clean sheet along the floor? I'd have made him re-wash it.

Guttedbuyer · 19/12/2021 01:37

My DH always takes stuff out of the tumble drier, rubs it a little between his hands, holds it to his face and declares it dry.

It’s NEVER dry.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 19/12/2021 01:45

He's realllllllllly trying to make his fuck up your fault isn't he?!?! Trying so so hard

ShippingNews · 19/12/2021 01:49

I "made him feel stupid."

No. HE made him feel stupid. Geeze.

RobertsRadio · 19/12/2021 01:52

Oh please don't breed with this man, he might pass on his stupid gene to any potential DC. Obviously if you already have DC with him, then just be on the look out for the stupid gene to read it's ugly and damp head.

madisonbridges · 19/12/2021 02:00

😂😂😂😂😂

Ooo, how unreasonable are you wanting to sleep on dry, warm sheets in the middle of winter?

Explaining the physics of body heat. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The sigh of the misunderstood (and hard done by 🙄 ) man. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I'm off to my electric blanket warmed (not used as an alternative to the tumble dryer) bed now, happily chuckling to myself.

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/12/2021 02:25

Good point.

I put a damp bra on the other day as I didn’t have the energy to go upstairs. It had been drying for a few hours on the clothes horse and synthetic fibres dry in no time. But damp sheets must be hell.

its a fantastic idea for giving yourself pneumonia during a pandemic
