YANBU

SquonkaClaus · 19/12/2007 12:21

YANBU

coldtits · 19/12/2007 12:21

Just Say No.

allergies and vegitarianism (ethics etc) and similar I will deal with happily. Childishness will be met with child training techniques!

so say "That's a shame, because I'm not making jacket potatoes. I'm sure you'll see something you feel you can eat"

moljam · 19/12/2007 12:21

who is it??

id tell them to get their own-heres potato sort yourself out!!

Tortington · 19/12/2007 12:22

whizz it in the microwave - dont even bother making it crispy - if youreally hate her spit on it - but if not just do is no frills - plonk tub of marg ( not butter) in front of them and if you really want to teach them a lesson - tell them you have no pepper

HairyIrene · 19/12/2007 12:23

well could be worse....
could've been spaghetti hoops...!

ChubbyStuckForAFestiveNameBurd · 19/12/2007 12:23

But they're not coming for 'Christmas Dinner' then, are they?

Feckin' weirdo ... yanbu.

Make her sit on her own.

Saturn74 · 19/12/2007 12:23

I'd just do it in the microwave whilst serving everything else up, and not mention anything about it.

The less attention it is given, the better, probably.

I would be tempted to add a sprig of parsley though.

Magrat · 19/12/2007 12:23

I don't mind making a jacket .. she doesn't mind bringing her own food either .. it's just there's no medical reason for this and she thinks she's normal still

it reduces the joy of cooking for people knowing that someone isn't going to enjoy it tbh

layercake · 19/12/2007 12:23

Why can't you chuck a potato in the oven, and watch her licking her lips when you dish up the turkey and trimmings

Snaf · 19/12/2007 12:24

Sprig of holly, surely, humphrey

YANBU. Describe isssshhoooooos in full, please, magrat.

beansprout · 19/12/2007 12:25

Why doesn't she want Christmas dinner?

Magrat · 19/12/2007 12:25

oh we're still having the full works .. it's just have to do veggie for her daughter, her son won't eat soup, most veg or potatoes in any shape or form and she's just odd

PS the son is a 6ft 17 year old

notmyrtle · 19/12/2007 12:26

weird! (her)

mairseydotes · 19/12/2007 12:26

attention seeking behaviour IMO
best ignored by all others round the table

I hope you have a lovely meal by lots of people who appreciate your efforts.

kittylouise · 19/12/2007 12:28

I think that your friend is incredibly rude. How attention seeking.

God knows what I would do, I would be very tempted to tell her to fuck off stay at home

AMerryScot · 19/12/2007 12:29

If she has food issues, then it's hardly an inconvenience to provide a bp. The oven is on anyway. You never know, she might have a nibble or two of other stuff once she sees how beautiful and appetising it is.

My SIL only eats PB&J sandwiches and green salad. We deal with it at family feasts - it is weird at first when we sit down to turkey, and she has a pitiful sandwich, but she knows that she is the one with the problem and does not expect the rest of us to come out in sympathy.

Actually I prefer custy's suggestion of serving it with marge.

AMerryScot · 19/12/2007 12:32

Can't believe how objectionable people are being here!

theUrbanDryAdventCalendar · 19/12/2007 12:32

are you sure it's not my dh you're having to dinner? he has food issshhhoooos (though you wouldn't think it to look at him, he's a fat bastard portly gentleman!!)

He calls himself fat, before anyone asks me how i'd feel if he called me a fat bitch!!

CarmenerryChristmas · 19/12/2007 12:34

I would provide them with a baked potato and pity them for their mental illness because that is what it is.

AMerryScot · 19/12/2007 12:36

Maybe they have digestive problems?

mumeeee · 19/12/2007 12:36

YANBU. Just say you are cooking Christmas Dinner and you are sure there will be something she can eat,

beansprout · 19/12/2007 12:36

I used to have major food issues and just couldn't join in with meals, it was horrible but I just couldn't do it.

At least she has asked for a spud, which is about the easiest thing she could request and not some elaborate salad?

It's not about you, it's her stuff. The kind thing would just be to go along with rather than making her feel worse than she already does.
