We were told only 2 parent helpers first come first served. One Mum who goes on every school trip wasn't first but her ds moaned so much he wanted her to come school let here. I don't think that is fair aibu

When my kid started school I wasn't able to go on one trip and it was a nightmare. His teachers couldn't cope at all. When I go on trips it's totally different - he's happy, calm and perfectly OK and it means the teachers have more time for the other children. You wouldn't know from looking at him that my child would struggle with a school trip at all.
This child in your son's class might not have special needs, but I bet he does.

Yes, they all have emotional needs - should all the mothers go?

I am actually quite prepared for my son to cry a bit because I'm not there. It's school, I make the decision to send him, I cannot always be there. But I am NOT prepared for him to soil himself on a trip and have to wait until someone has time to change him.

As it is, he doesn't do it any more anyway ... but my point is, children with special needs have the same needs as NT children - then MORE needs on top of those!
