Horse riders should pick up their poo!!

It’s surely a potential hazard leaving horse manure on the road!
Tractors are required to clean up excess mud they leave on the road, dog poo is collected by their owners.
So why can’t horse riders be required to show common decency if they are to use the road.
Apparently an outdated law from when horses were the main mode of transport allows this and prevents action being taken.
With the number of accidents never mind inconveniences caused by this negligence surely this should be amended?

This thread is four years old nearly - why on earth are you bumping it again?! 🙄

Maybe people are still pissed off about disgusting entitled horse riders allowing their pets to shit all over the place?

bananaramaterry · 28/05/2024 18:31

@Kendodd but I think they had ample time to get over it!

Horse poo is not disgusting. It’s compacted grass, grow up.

Lighteningstrikes · 29/05/2024 05:06

You are absolutely bonkers.

Boomer55 · 29/05/2024 07:21

I remember when keen gardeners used to dash outside to pick it up for their gardens.

Times must have changed.

I know! " disgusting, entitled " is what I think every time I see a horse and rider.

🤦‍♀️😂

( nb nope I don't )

RunningJo · 29/05/2024 13:06

😂

chaosmaker · 29/05/2024 14:07

I'd rather wankers didn't have TWO horse boxes parked in the street.

RedPony1 · 29/05/2024 14:36

All our dogs are raised on a diet of meat and horse poo - they are totally fine 😂

You're crazy OP, us equestrians deal with horse poo daily, i've never known anyone catch any thing from it. We've spent our lives eating lunch at the yard without washing our hands first 😂

Just quoting scientific evidence.
Every individual is unique and can react in a different way.
Some are more vulnerable than others to bacteria.

Of course. And that applies to everything.

Let's ban all horse riding in public.

Not really, just make provisions to clean up the mess you leave behind.
Just like most people do if you have a pet dog.
If you have the luxury of owning a horse then you should show manners and ride where the mess won’t cause an inconvenience or clean up after the horse.
I have seen horse mess outside my grandchildren’s school and I don’t think that’s ok!

No despite what you say I don't think horse manure poses much danger.
I'd much rather see horse manure than no horses.

I'm no more exercised by that than by all of the other items of private property stored on public streets, rent free. If I erected a shed on the street the council would want a word, but apparently cars can park for nowt.

chaosmaker · 29/05/2024 20:18

If you erected a shed, red dragon then the council would want planning permission unless you were a council member possibly.

The fact that I do not own the street would also be an issue, I feel.

But so long as the item you want to store on the public highway has wheels then apparently you can do so rent-free.

This is the most ridiculous post I have ever read on MN.

I genuinely think I have a very valid point!
But I do love a good debate!
Please keep me entertained as I am finding it so very amusing when I get more feedback!
