I mean, really?

I actually thought the live announcement tonight was a spoof until 5 minutes through...

The man is his own characature

I get he's a new dad to 2 little ones, but he's also the prime minister - can he not show the British public at least a little respect?

🤷

I thought so too but it is deliberately. As for him being a father of two little ones now, what's that got to do with it? Most people still manage to run a comb through their hair and take care of their offspring. You don't actually think he's getting up with the baby do you?

gojoroyco · 13/12/2021 08:28

@FatFredsFriedEgg

It's not a 'carefully presented image', it's a comedy character created by the serial liar Alexander de Pfeffel Johnson, or 'Al' to his family.

He's no more a real person than Keith Lemon or Vic Reeves is.

What sort of a gullible twat votes a comedy TV character in as Prime Minister?

Why does everyone have an issue with him using his middle name? I know at least 4 people that do this including my grandfather in law, my mother and a work colleague.

It's normal.

hivemindneeded · 13/12/2021 08:34

He thinks it makes him look loveable. Like a big cuddly old teddy.

It makes him look like a toddler who utter fools voted to be in charge of the country. Which is what he is.

FatFredsFriedEgg · 13/12/2021 08:36

It's 'normal' except that it's not what he's known as by his friends and family.

The 'Boris' character is pure invention - a comic-book, amiable, bumbling toff, straight out of a P. G. Wodehouse (or even Richmal Crompton) story.

But it's not normal for him. No one who knows him, rather than the public character he's playing, uses it.

Chely · 13/12/2021 08:43

Why does anyone give a fuck

Nevertime · 13/12/2021 08:49

@Chely

Why does anyone give a fuck
Well the people who are playing us obviously do, as so much energy goes into cultivating this bumbling image.
GrrrlPwr · 13/12/2021 08:49

He gets his hair cut like that on purpose. It's part of his image.

I looked past the hair, the weight he's put back on and looked at his face.
Yikes he looked awful. Knackered.

bestbefore · 13/12/2021 08:52

Why all the comments about going bald? It's a fairly natural thing to happen and I don't see how that should be something to attack him over, if he had a skin condition would you attack him for that?

gherdl · 13/12/2021 08:52

His hair would never look good though, my hair is also that type though curlier and a bit frizzy and as you get older it gets worse so even if it is combed and styled it looks shit, the colour doesn't help either at least mine is darker, he has also lost the slight wave that he used to have which makes it look worse.

FreeBritnee · 13/12/2021 08:54

It's his MO. A dishevelled baffoon so he is assumed to be stupid but actually is pretty astute and calculating. I quite admire it.

pilar3 · 13/12/2021 08:57

But what I want to know is, does he use an “at home” bleaching kit to get it that yellow? Can you buy blond kits for men? Of goes he get highlights at the hairdresser?

I see his dad around occasionally and he is grey.

Regardless of the mess, no man in his 50s has bright yellow hair like that. I would be interested in how he does it.

pilar3 · 13/12/2021 08:59

At least he hasn’t also gone for the tangerine fake tan a la Trump. That we can be thankful for.

MrsMariaReynolds · 13/12/2021 09:08

He should fire his barber.

2beesornot2beesthatisthehoney · 13/12/2021 09:39

I don't care what anyone's hair looks like. I do care if someone is a lying scumbag

This ^ totally agree with @SusannaQueen

Notatwite · 13/12/2021 09:56

It’s not just his hair. His chosen image also involves looking like a total slob in creased, I’ll fitting suits with shirt hanging out like a schoolboy on his way home . He looks like he would smell of BO.

He is representing a nation. It looks like he doesn’t care. Which is absolutely true as he clearly doesn’t.

I’d not want to be represented by a lawyer that looked such a scruffy wreck. I’d not want my doctor to look like that either or my kids teachers. Appearance shouldn’t matter but sometimes it really does. If you turned up for a job interview for a job that involved facing the public and representing your brand (or country) throughout the world , it would send a terrible message and you’d not get selected.

I miss Theresa May. At least she was only embarrassing 20% of the time.

CounsellorTroi · 13/12/2021 10:30

@MrsSkylerWhite

He does. Sprays into into place too, obviously. All very carefully curated.

Works for Milton Jones. PM? not so much.

Knob.

He’s also going bald and the disarray probably helps.

I saw Milton Jones on Celebrity Pointless. He’d combed his hair properly for that and very lovely it looked too.
Iputthetrampintrampoline · 13/12/2021 10:32

my 10 yr old says he looks like he smells! brutal lol

Tal45 · 13/12/2021 10:33

There's a thousand things I'd slag him off for before I got to his hair to be fair.

AndARiverBeneathYourFeet · 13/12/2021 10:46

Fits his image as "fucking twat" I suppose.

Tal45 · 13/12/2021 10:48

And I would have absolutely no problem with whatever image a prime minister had - as long as they were a bloody good prime minister.

I think far, far too much importance is placed on image generally. Smart doesn't equal anything, not intelligence, not ability, not empathy. People see image as representing all sorts of things that it really doesn't, but it seems to be only non NT people that really recognise this.

I think Boris's image is cultivated to show he's not stuck up, he's a loveable character and fun and wants to do his best for everyone. No one could be angry with someone like that for long. Unfortunately in reality he's just a buffoon and a lousy prime minister and as much part of the Tory boys club (entitled pricks only) as anyone.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 13/12/2021 10:48

He does it on purpose - says everything you need to know about him
