To think IACGMOOH is cruel?

Why is it OK to use animals for entertainment, why is it OK to pour different types of critters on top of others, why don't we care that they are sacrificed for our entertainment?
Why don't we care that animal parts are put to waste?
IABU - who gives a fuck if insects die, its TV gold
IANBU- it's tasteless to use living things for entertainment?

I like the programme, but have never enjoyed watching any trials involving live animals, or eating revolting things (so basically I don't watch most of the trials).

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea Thanks for the link, it confirms what I believe - even insects have the capacity to suffer pain and distress.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 12/12/2021 23:13

Never understood the fascination with this programme - awful for the animals and humiliating for the contestants.

Veryverycalmnow · 12/12/2021 23:18

YANBU and it seems like a rubbish programme x

DorothyZbornakIsAQueen · 12/12/2021 23:18

I stopped watching after a while. I found one of the earlier eating trials rather uncomfortable. A drink was made from a pigs uterus.

Not sure why I found this more distasteful that the bollocks and cocks, but I did.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 12/12/2021 23:48

I've decided I won't be watching the next series, as there is too much about IACGMOOH that I don't like. I watch too much telly anyway - I need to find something better to do with my time.

FancyNedFlanders · 12/12/2021 23:56

It’s gross and I don’t see why people enjoy it, I’m shocked it’s still on TV to be honest

At least they don’t eat live creatures anymore

I also find it laughable that eating “weird bits” of the animal is somehow gross but you’d happily eat another bit of dead animal flesh from a different part of its body 🤷🏻‍♀️

blacksax · 13/12/2021 00:24

I don't have a problem with humans being omnivores, and killing living creatures for food.

I do have a problem with killing them for entertainment.

Elfonaledge · 13/12/2021 00:26

They do lots of mean things to rats too. They are pet rats/domestic rats and have been used in tasks where the water rises so the rats climb on people, and just in general far too many rats in a small space with a screaming person.

Considering my pet one gets scared if we sneeze too loud in the room she's in, it's definately cruel

Agree about everything from the snakes and crocs to bugs being bred to be squashed, dumped on people's heads and used in trials

BashfulClam · 13/12/2021 00:31

I’m so glad I don’t watch it, it’s absolute gash and I cannot stand Any and Dec. It should be brought to an end now.

KloppsTeeth · 13/12/2021 01:40

They could make a show with trails etc with no animals of any kind. That cows snout in a burger by. thing and pigs uterus drink is horrifying.

phishy · 13/12/2021 07:41

I agree, which is why I’ve never watched it.

The people who have watched it on and off for nearly 20 years but are only now finding it morally objectionable is hypocritical though.

Comedycook · 13/12/2021 07:45

I never watch it. I always have hated watching the bush tucker trials. I get no joy from watching people doing something they find unpleasant...it's not funny

derxa · 13/12/2021 08:18

@Ledkr

No its horrible. Chris packham has been campaigning for a while now about it. When they used to eat live bugs I couldn't get over their lack of concern.
I think Chris Packham is an absolute twat but I agree with him on this.
MynameisWa · 13/12/2021 22:31

@Elfonaledge I so agree with you. I see those humans screeching and flaying around and think it’s the animals that should be shitting themselves and they probably are.

It’s abuse pure and simple. I always see my dog’s face and think of her being put in that situation and it upsets me.

Lollyneenah · 13/12/2021 22:49

Agree. It's incredibly cruel

LetHimHaveIt · 13/12/2021 22:50

It's a garbage program for garbage human beings.

But surely this is a good thing? At least now they realise it’s abhorrent, better than to still be a fan of the programme, opinions can change over time and hopefully if enough people change their view more people will complain and it will eventually stop, a bit like the circus.
Againstmachine · 13/12/2021 23:06

It's very poor TV and always has been I think lots less of people who watch it.

Oh it's cheeky chappies presenting it, doesn't stop it been cruel and rubbish.

Yesterday 08:18derxa:

"I think Chris Packham is an absolute twat but I agree with him on this."

@derxa I used to feel that way about him, until I watched a documentary about him, and discovered more about him. He is autistic and has always had trouble reading people, and I think that makes him seem a bit stand offish/arrogant at times. He is passionate about animals and conservation, and is very single minded about it, which is something I admire in him.

Seemslikeagoodidea · 14/12/2021 03:07

Wow, bit harsh there. Calling people garbage because they watch a programme you dislike is pretty judgemental.

The trials are just one part of the programme, the rest is basically people watching, which can be interesting as the personalities get to know each other and let their guards down. Ant and Dec's humour is not exactly sophisticated, but I enjoy their commentary and daft jokes.

RedSquirrelsAreAwesome · 14/12/2021 03:14

Most of the poor creatures must get squashed accidentally either by the contestant or by the cleaning up afterwards.
It’s every kind of wrong and I hate it.

MysteriousMonkey · 14/12/2021 05:52

This is why I have not watched since the first one. Its awful.

UseOfWeapons · 14/12/2021 06:20

Never watched it, but have seen enough trailers to make me think this is not entertainment.

Veterinari · 14/12/2021 06:41

Ah! Yeah well if animal cruelty is only part of the programme then that's totally fine isn't it? Hmm

The needless deaths of hundred if animals have all balanced by a few daft jokes innit?
