My cat is an arsehole

Digs into one type of food like it’s his last meal on earth, I go and buy a box of 40 sachets and he looks at me like I have presented him with his own shit to eat.

Argh!! What to do? Why is he so fucking fussy?!

😂

Our solution is Blink cat food. Different pouch each time. So cat doesn't get bored. Bizarre but it works!
Plus it's really good cat food! Cats fur changed to be more silky, happier cat.

One of my cats is an arsehole in terms of bringing in live mice to play with (we've all got good at catch and release...) but has been happily eating the same Purina chicken for 8 years. Her chonky brother, however, not only eats his food and half of hers, but also begs for olives, popcorn, Hula-Hoops and wafer-thin processed ham. Not interested in actual meat though, he's not classy. My kids can't eat cereal without his face arriving six inches from their bowls, desperate for a soggy Cheerio. He's too fat to catch mice, though, so silver linings.

One of my neighbours cats has developed a role as our 'sweeper' and hoovers up our fussy cats leftovers. His owner commented recently that she thinks he has a third 'home' as he's getting so chonky. His fur is looking sleeker though! But he is becoming quite rotund..

@Beamur

I know it's strange isn't it?! I think my cats are quite active at night so probably pretty hungry by 4 or 5am, and they know that there is zero chance of anymore food appearing until I get up.

Initially I tried putting least favourite food down for breakfast (thinking that would be when they were most hungry), but it didn't work at all. I just got hassled all day until I replaced it with something more satisfactory. This trick only seems to work at night when dcat can't find you.

My mini mistress has biscuits little and often and a pouch one a day. In the summer I mix water into cat meat to ensure mine has more water as whichever way I give her water she resists it and prefers grimy puddles.

I get moody scowling looks day 1 and 2, acceptance by day 3. Later summer if I forget to add water she dives over the bowl to stop me diluting it!

This sums it up pretty well

My cat is an arsehole

Sounds like a typical feline friend 🐈‍⬛🐈
Their fussy but funny.
My Ging boy was a wonderful chap.
He passed and I miss him dearly.

Might have to have my Mums cat.
And he is grumpy old git.
Can fuss him or pick him up.
And he gets a look to his face when he is going to scratch you. I don’t think I want the cat.
Just what do you do ??

MidnightMeltdown · 16/12/2021 13:18

Breakfast fail this morning.

Offering:

1 x sachet of chicken Hi Life - cats sniffed and then looked at me as if was an insult.

1 x sachet of fish Hi Life - boy cat used to enjoy this but has changed his mind. Took a couple of bites and then walked off. Girl cat won't go near it.

I now have two peeved hungry cats ☹️

I love it when you put down food and they look at you in disgust! One of mine actually tries to cover food up she seems so horrified by it. Amusingly she has the same reaction to coffee...

Lots of cats don't really like being picked up. None of mine like it much. One only tolerates it if done in a certain way, the other 2 don't mind during a 5 minute window during the day which occurs at random.. similarly with fuss, I always keep it brief unless they instigate it. Some cats you also have to read the signs when to stop. My 'sweeper' cat is thought to be unfriendly by his owners. He's not, he's actually very friendly- but in short doses. Once he swishes his tail I stop. If you carry on, he nips. I had to pick him up yesterday as he'd jumped in my car and was declining to get out, I was slightly wary but he purred hugely. I felt quite privileged and relieved 😂

My boy cat HATES to be picked up. He doesn't bite or scratch but he's pretty strong and struggles like mad when picked up. He is very affectionate, but only when in the mood. If not in the mood, he will duck when you try to stroke him!! He doesn't like to be brushed either, and he runs off and hides behind the sofa when he sees the brush. Very annoying as he has long hair and can get knots!

Girl cat is quite happy to be picked up and carried about, and she loves to be brushed. She is fussier with food though, and would rather starve than eat something she doesn't like.
