To think the Tories have given the middle finger to the people of Britain yet again?

On the BBC News website. Apparently 'dozens' of people attended a Christmas party at no.10 on 18th December last year, when London had just entered tier 3 lockdown rules. Boris, who it's quoted wasn't there, says no rules were broken Hmm

@Stellaris22

Why was Corbyn dangerous? Explain.
Did you see the damage done by Corbyn's liking of anti-Semitic tweets?

Did you see the damage done by Corbyn's deliberate non-guidance on the Brexit vote?

Really? Really? Are you really suggesting Corbyn???

Kamelion · 02/12/2021 23:12

The options at the 2019 general election were the most piss poor in the history of British elections. Neither of them were fit to govern and voted Labour purely and simply because we had a good, sensible local candidate.

FOJN

"Corbyn was photographed holding a dinner party during lockdown"

It was a wake held outside a cafe in the open air.

No he went to a dinner party where 6 people attended
longwayoff · 03/12/2021 06:44

Everything is the fault of Jeremy Corbyn. Always and forever. Oh, and the Milibands dad, him too. Diane Abbott of course. Bloody socialists asking people to vote for a fairer society, how terrible. Anyway, 15,000 people in Bexley have ditched Bozo and mates, so well done to them. 19,000 to 4,000. Better.

Tory MP won in by election

Poor turnout though and lower percentage of votes from last time.

Tories still won though, as they will at next weeks BE and indeed the next GE.

This country is inherently right wing (and its getting worse) it will cry crocodile tears at any social injustice, yet when it comes to Govt, will vote for tax cuts for the wealthy and cuts in funding for the very public services they use.

If it were just the 2019 Corbyn factor, then Labour would be streaking ahead in the 'polls under a moderate leader but they are not.

fournonblondes · 03/12/2021 08:34

This country needs leadership. So whom? The haters of Labour? Tommy Lammy, Angela Raymer, Lisa Nandy? Keir S, A leader?.You are kidding. They are much worse for the whole population. See how Sadiq Khan has done in London. Talk about leadership to me please. Useless waste of space that have damage London so much.

We have had vaccines, boosters, furlough, constant updates. It is what is important to my family. I care little about the speculation of the media.

MeanderingGently · 03/12/2021 08:51

Who bloody cares what any of them did LAST Christmas?? This is a storm worked up by the media and the odd desperate politician. Truly, we have more on our plate currently than to be bickering about who had what at Christmas last year. Why, oh why start bringing it up now? Most of the people I know couldn't care less, and even those who have issues with the Tories could point to far more serious things than a Christmas party a fucking year ago!!
For God's sake BBC, bloody let it go......

longwayoff · 03/12/2021 09:36

Why? Who cares? Whilst your heroes were swigging bottles of Moet at your expense, shagging their political 'aides', refurnishing their living space, also at your expense, and handing out covid millions to their mates - yup, more public money- other people were unable to be present when loved ones were dying or being buried. Because your mates, cheers, mine's a G&T, in No 10 made it illegal to be there. And had the additional temerity to impose revenue raising fines on those perceived to have broken Bozo's rules. Many people are utterly pissed off with the grasping bunch of chancers in No 10 and have little opportunity to say so. So keep it up BBC. Long and Loud.

TheMarzipanDildo · 03/12/2021 09:49
@Stellaris22 he is way too far left and there is a model in politics called the horseshoe phenomenon whereby if you go far enough to the left and far enough to the right you end up in the same place. I don’t think he kindly, I think he is ruthless.
I don’t think Corbyn quite got to this point though, he wasn’t Stalin!

I care because it's indicative of the government literally saying "fuck you all" to the general population.

If that doesn't bother you, what does?

And it's not like it's an isolated incident. The fact is we have a corrupt, incompetent government who are happily selling the country down the river and not even bothering to hide the fact, and we still have people going "who cares?".

So fucking depressing.

IpanemaPeaHen · 03/12/2021 10:24

Ros Aitkins has a good summary on the BBC

“Drinks…nibbles…games”

Posters who say they don’t care probably really do but it’s okay because it’s Boris and he got Brexit done.

(What did Mark Spencer do?! I’ve never heard of him.)
I had to google him - he's under investigation on a rape allegation

I think you've just read the headline of the article you were looking at. Mark Spencer wasn't accused of rape - it was an unnamed Tory MP. Mark Spencer was criticised for not suspending the unnamed MP during the police investigation - the investigation was later dropped by the police.

Clavinova · 03/12/2021 11:39

Thank you for reminding me about the first party. That seems to have been the PMs social Christmas party.

According to Laura Kuenssberg (Newscast) the first party was a leaving do for a senior aide - Boris Johnson was called in to 'say a few words' then left.

Labour MP Barry Gardiner on LBC this morning saying that he will happily provide Cressida Dick with a letter to investigate the No 10 parties. That's the same Barry Gardiner criticised by senior members of his own party for breaking social distancing rules last year and tweeting about it;

@WoodburnersRUs

I couldnt care less. I didn’t care about Corbyn’s dinner party or Dominic Cummings’ “eye test” or Matt Hancock’s affair. I don’t care. I want everyone on an NHS waiting list to get the care that they contributed to their entire lives. Boris has cheated on his wife, fathered children outside of his marriage and dissembled in other stuff. I don’t care about any of that any more than I care about Jeremy Corbyn’s 2nd divorce or some thing another v senior politician has gone to a LOT of trouble and expense to keep quiet.

I want good policies and for the UK to not be locked down when the economy is on a knife edge. And as a floating voter who accepts that we know much more about Covid now than we did in March 2020, The future action of the ruling government has more impact on my next vote than a random personal Christmas drinks a year ago. I had a lot of neighbours who did that and I don’t judge them either.

I agree

ooops you are 100% correct. My mistake.
LadyWithLapdog · 03/12/2021 12:38

I do care that we’re constantly shown the middle finger and shat upon by the Tories. Obviously others love it and want a bit more shit their way and will continue to vote for this.

fournonblondes · 03/12/2021 12:44

@ all LadyWithLapdog you just vote for Labour as you always do.

longwayoff · 03/12/2021 12:50

The ranks of Blue Mumsnet have been summoned. There's no hope for some. Bray on.

fournonblondes · 03/12/2021 13:05

Either that or people priorities are not gender neutral toilets?

LadyWithLapdog · 03/12/2021 13:19

That went down the toilet quickly 🤷‍♀️

MynameisWa · 06/12/2021 20:09

@SusieBob “saying ‘fuck you’ to the general public”. Something that the virtual signalling metropolitan left elite would never say to the electorate.

Wait ….

MynameisWa · 06/12/2021 20:11

longwayoff · 07/12/2021 22:39

Oh dear, Allegra. Keep smirking, you've a lot of friends on here. And also don't mention Afghanistan where Mrs Bozo didn't help ensure a menagerie was airlifted at the expense of families with children. Families that had worked with and for our country. So; no party in No 10 and no animal rescue and that's definitely not Allegra Stratton sniggering in the news clip from 18 Dec 2020. Oh, how we laugh. I wouldn't be surprised to find a clip of the denizens of No 10 actually dancing on the graves, 'let them pile up in the streets' of the thousands of the needless dead. And that's putting it politely.
