Would you go to a wedding next weekend?

Am vaccinated and RSVP'd yes. Not old or CEV but I am wary.

Would you go? They've likely paid for me already. I have booked a hotel etc.

Doubts over whether it will even happen at this rate.

Do you think it will happen? (if it doesn't, I guess I wait for now and do nothing) and if it does, would you go?

I’ve been living with a Covid positive ridiculously cuddly and kissy kid for the last 10 days and I haven’t caught it. I’d go!

Jada1234 · 01/12/2021 20:12

nope

RainLol · 01/12/2021 20:13

No, I wouldn’t.

But I do hate weddings though….

3WildOnes · 01/12/2021 20:15

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy Not been living in a cave, No!
I am not anxious because I am young (ish), slim and healthy and what is the point in worrying? I would rather carry on and live my life to the full.
From the other replies on this thread it doesn’t sound like most people are anxious about Covid.

HoppingPavlova · 01/12/2021 20:15

Why not? Unless you want to lock yourself away in a cupboard then go and have fun. The new variant, while contagious is supposedly mild.

Libertaire · 01/12/2021 20:16

Yes, of course i would go.

I’m asthmatic and hiding from this ghastly disease has already robbed me of a year of my life, so now I’m double jabbed, soon the be triple, I’m getting on with living again.

Aworldofmyown · 01/12/2021 20:17

I would go.

Allycott · 01/12/2021 20:18

If you don't want to go to then don't go - youre a grown up and you don't need to seek validation from a bloody thread. I suspect you are worried about what people think if you don't go - don't be. Do what you want to do - not what you think other people think you should do. Honestly your reasons are YOURS and you don't really owe an explanation to any one. I know sometimes we do do stuff for others but if you really don't want to just don't.

HelloDulling · 01/12/2021 20:19

Would I? Yes. I work in a school of 700 children, and both my teens are at school. If I get it, it won’t be from a party. Should you go? I dunno. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

Dyra · 01/12/2021 20:21

Given I do have a wedding next weekend to go to, yes, yes I am.

SunDance21 · 01/12/2021 20:21

You should go if you've said you are. You don't really have a legitimate reason not to, you're vaccinated and not at risk. If it was my wedding I'd think you so so rude. They've paid for you to attend, which is expensive, and you've said you want to.

weddingguesttbc · 01/12/2021 20:22

@Dyra are you working on the assumption it will go ahead?

OP posts:
me4real · 01/12/2021 20:22

I'd do stuff now while we still can Smile

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/12/2021 20:22

It would depend on the relationship. Close loved one, yes but not the reception (CEV husband).

Why are you personally wary?

TH22 · 01/12/2021 20:24

If you don't want to go, then tell them now so they have a chance to fill your seat. However, you should be prepared to find out how much your seat costs and make sure you repay them. Along with a gift.

seriousandloyal · 01/12/2021 20:25

Yes I would

RuthW · 01/12/2021 20:26

No I wouldn't go but I wouldn't have said I was going anyway.

Squirrelblanket · 01/12/2021 20:27

Yes. Calm down.

Doris86 · 01/12/2021 20:28
@Dyra are you working on the assumption it will go ahead?
Is there any reason to believe otherwise?

MintyGreenDream · 01/12/2021 20:30

Yes I fucking love a wedding

RonaLisa · 01/12/2021 20:31
@Dozer if the vaccine doesn't work on the new variant and I catch Covid
Oh FGS.

A chimney pot might fall on you when you're walking to the venue. A car might mount the pavement. Why go anywhere, ever? Far safer just to stay at home.

Summersdreaming · 01/12/2021 20:32

Yes I think it will go ahead and I would go without a second thought.

NigellaSeed · 01/12/2021 20:33

You obviously didn't read my comment correctly.

Chasingaftermidnight · 01/12/2021 20:33

I would definitely go if I had RSVPed yes.

But to be honest I probably wouldn’t have RSVPed yes - not really out of fear of getting ill, more out of fear of testing positive and having to isolate over Christmas.

tttigress · 01/12/2021 20:34

Yes, I would go
