To ask you to recommend a cheaper laundry liquid?

I’m trying to cut costs. I have always bought branded laundry liquid like Ariel, fairy or bold but it’s so expensive. I tried an own brand - I think it was Asda and it was just rubbish.
Can anyone recommend any cheaper detergent that’s not bad? I use the liquid not powder as the powder seems to clog my machine and the liquitabs are even more expensive, we are only a family of four but I do laundry every day!

I always use the Tesco lavender liquid and fabric conditioner. Always been fine.

Agree re Lidl formil. However, had to piggyback a neighbours on line shop - long story- and got Morrison's own brand on the basis that if it was rubbish I could bin it as v cheap. It's great.

Soda crystals and a dash of vinegar. Seriously.
Clean (and cheap!) cleaning.

Formil 3 in 1 pods from Lidl. Wash well and having had a smelly washing machine for a little while, they’ve dispensed with that, too.

I tried Lidl liquid and it made my machine smell awful

I’m using Sainsbury’s powder for now
When you say own brand was powders was rubbish, do you mean clothes are still dirty?

I don’t have young children and my clothes are fairly lightly soiled so maybe it’s not a big problem for me. Most washes are just to refresh

I buy this from
Amazon.

£15 for 142 washes. I had the initial outlay for a pump for the bottle, but I've been using it for about a year now and it is no different to any supermarket brand, just significantly cheaper.

That being said - it doesn't have a scent, so if you like fragrant laundry (I don't) it won't have the smell.

I've been using Tesco and it works well, significantly cheaper than persil (which was my previous detergent of choice)

I use Smol which comes by post and is plastic free. It’s brilliant and smells lovely.

Lidl Formil powder- straight into the drum before the clothes so no issues with it not dissolving.

I use Smol non-bio on my bed sheets because I like the smell. I used it on everything at first but it faded my black cottons and dark grey towels. I also needed to add fabric conditioner (it’s not all in one) to prevent static in the tumble drier.

I like it and it works but it’s not for everything.

Tesco's non bio tablets.
I put one in per wash, then a scoop of soda crystals split between the normal wash dispenser and the pre wash dispenser. I've stopped using fabric conditioner.

Then add a capful of diluted zoflora.

we use cloth nappies for our toddler and signed up to Clean Cloth Nappies for washing advice. they have done loads of testing and they recommend Daz as the best budget detergent. I dont think they recommend liquid generally. I put it straight in the drum. I get the big boxes from home bargains for £8 and it lasts ages. we use it for all washing now and its great.

I use Daz as its about the only one that doesn't give me thrush for daring to wash my knickers in it. Normally about £8 for a big box and lasts a while, even with the amount of washing I do!

Aldi for washing AND dishwasher. At least as good as the big brands and far cheaper.

Aldi tabs or liquid - just as good if not better than the branded or other supermarket ones.

Lidl, I was in a holiday cottage and tried them and was pleasantly surprised so always buy them now (I use the liquitabs)

I like Wilkos non bio liquid. Used to be a lot cheaper though. Grrr. Ditto their colour care liquid and fabric conditioner. Smells nice , not too chemically , though obviously it is!

Tip from the guy who came to fix the washing machine; he says manufacturers of laundry products advise using far more product than you need. (to sell more). So to always, use the measure, measure just over half the recommended dose. He said "If you do this your machine will run better, be more efficient and last a long longer". He was right.
