OP posts:
CarmenerryChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:54

What is the name?

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:55

Why is it a problem? you named your Ds 1st!
Oscar is a lovely name too.

ATortIsForLifeNotJustChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:55

Oops missed out the 'And' before oscar!

CarmenerryChristmas · 15/12/2007 15:59

A little unreasonable as lots and lots of little boys are called Oscar atm, it is a lovely name.

beansprout · 15/12/2007 16:00

Just a tad self obsessed?

Bouncingturtle · 15/12/2007 16:01

Baby in Ghostbusters 2 was called Oscar.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 15/12/2007 16:09

Swedes, I am 24weeks pg and had the name roxy in my head for ages as for a little girl, then along came roxy mitchell. Eastenders sucks.

TinyTimLivesinVictorianSqualor · 15/12/2007 16:09

Oh I meant to add, You are not being unreasonable in the slightest

JingleBelgoHoHoHo · 15/12/2007 16:11

Didn't you get the name yourself form Neighbours?

Brandnewchristmaspyjamasgirl · 15/12/2007 16:12

or sesame street?

ConnorTraceptive · 15/12/2007 16:43

Eastenders ruined the name spencer for me

SelfishMrsClaus · 15/12/2007 16:46

Did Honey & Billy have their baby then?

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 15/12/2007 16:51

Lots of people assumed that I chose my dd's name after seeing Friends. It is frustrating but no you aren't BU - how dare soaps grab names and use them at random .

suwoo · 15/12/2007 16:55

It would annoy me too- big time. I was so paranoid with DD that someone in a soap would name their baby the name I was going to use, they didn't, thank goodness. Self obsessed NO, and YANBU at all.

NotEvenHopingForAWhiteXmas · 15/12/2007 17:18

From Bounty:

Your name, oscar, is in position number 76 in our 2007 list.

Last year it was in position number 99

Your name have moved up 23 places since last year.

So yes YABU

I was going to call DD2 Giselle and I'm so glad I didn't because that's the name of the lead character in Enchanted, so there will be hundreds of girls with that name soon.

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 15/12/2007 17:21

This is why I called my children weirdy names

goingfor3christmaspuddings · 15/12/2007 17:23

I was due in Jan and mc'd. My baby was a boy and we called him Oscar, it did upset me to see the EE baby named Oscar. I'm so glad I'm pregnant again otherwise i would really be decastated.

CarGirl · 15/12/2007 17:23

Eastenders nicked Tiffany when dd1 was born so it ended up being demoted to her middle name I was so gutted.

Miaou · 15/12/2007 17:23

Ah, I share your pain - when dd1 was 9 months old, a really slutty character bearing the same name came on to Neighbours. I lost count of the number of people who asked me if I had named her after her following that . However, she was short-lived and I bet nobody remembers her now!

Not as bad as another girl I knew who named her daughter Monica - one month before Monica Lewinsky became world famous

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 15/12/2007 17:26

Check out this American site, not always relevant over here but they list my son's name (Wilbur)in the top 100 in 1920!!!!! It fell out the top 1000 in 1982

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 15/12/2007 17:26

Oops here

chopchopbusybusy · 15/12/2007 17:26

YANBU - it is very frustrating. I was surprised that Max said no one calls their baby Oscar. Tis very popular round here.

bookofchristmascarolsmum · 15/12/2007 17:28

Miaow - Annalise was it?

QueenBhannae · 15/12/2007 17:42

Yes yabu but I felt exactly the same when I had dd1-the name I had was Ruby but then there was a bloody dog called it in Brookside.I went with another name and said dog was killed off a week later.
This time round I had another girl and her mn is Queenie.About two weeks after getting her out of hospital my mum rang up and said there was some old hag called it on Eastenders lmao.
My dd2 gets Queenie most of the time still though!

JOSScinnnamonSTICK · 15/12/2007 18:52

When i was pregnant with DS1 i was going to call him Willow if he was a girl after a lovely very old lady i knew.

Then came Buffy.

Thank Goodness he was a boy!
