I ordered some Christmas presents from a well known online retailer.
It cost £150
The parcel was meant to be here last Monday and it didn't arrive.
They said it was lost and refunded me £150 (it's back in my bank ) so I re ordered the items.
Now the first parcel has turned up that I've been refunded for.
What would you do?
Do I tell them?
Or do I return the second order and get a refund and keep this order that's already been refunded
Or is that awful ?

I've asked multiple times. Yet to get an answer.

I'm thinking maybe because big retailers have claims/refund processes set in place and are making that money back at a rapid speed. I imagine a small business does not and will gain a bit more sympathy from people

A small business is at the mercy of the courier . once an item has been shipped there’s little they can do to influence it. They’re often given the runaround as much as domestic users.

Big business have multimillion dollar contracts complete with service standards and their own account managers. They may also be able to claim from the delivery company depending on terms. If too many parcels are lost they’re actually able to do something about it.

@SusieBob if you’re still interested…

Yeah, because that is the thought process of people doing this.

Hmm

We all know know the actual reason.

What do you think the reason is? @SusieBob

Almostmenopausal · 24/11/2021 12:29

@veredd The company will soon know the original item has been delivered and you may be reported for fraud Hmm

Almostmenopausal · 24/11/2021 12:34

@TokyoDreaming

I'd keep both or get the second one refunded but then I don't care about companies that earn millions of pounds a year.
That's the problem with society today. Can you imagine if f everyone had this attitude?! The companies don't swallow the loss, they pass the cost onto the consumer in price increases. Also, with most large retailers, it's the management of that department who has to answer to the losses. So if it's a small household appliance then the dispatch manager of the small appliance department who has to answer to why X number of parcels have 'gone missing' on his watch. So many occurrences and that man gets disciplined and/or fired! Hmm

You only have to read some responses to other scenarios on MN to realise how dishonest a lot of MNers are.

There's barely a thread goes by in AIBU without a long list of people whose advice is to lie about whatever the situation is. Usually accompanied by that favourite "just say..."

And then claims of "It's a white lie." from people who don't want to think of themselves as liars, despite that being exactly what they're advocating.

Very odd.
