Because I think they have water leak as my ceiling has a damp patch that wasn't there earlier...
I didn't think I was unreasonable, but DH when I asked him to go said jt was and it should wait till morning. Interested to hear what others think

Go
If you leave it you could end up with a hole in your ceiling and water coming through

Nikki305 · 17/11/2021 21:21

I guess it depends how bad it is? Is it a damp mark or is it wet and dripping?

MagicBlueberry · 17/11/2021 21:21

So as not to be accused of drip feeding, its not like there is water gushing but I was concerned what might look like a small damp patch now, might be quite a big damp patch ans potentially and lot bigger an issue in 12 hours time..

I’d go.

PinkSkirt · 17/11/2021 21:22

Seriously go now, if it’s appeared over today likely it’ll be a hole by morn and wreck your stuff and mean more intrusive for you. Why on earth would he suggest waiting?

dementedpixie · 17/11/2021 21:22

If it only appeared then it may get worse over time. Better to deal with it early as water can be very damaging

MyOtherProfile · 17/11/2021 21:23

Do it now!

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 17/11/2021 21:23

If your fairly sure there is a leak and that they are awake then not unreasonable, the longer its left the more severe the damage. I wouldn’t want to risk my ceiling caving in!

Finknottlesnewt · 17/11/2021 21:26

Can I just assure you OP - it is perfectly acceptable to make a call on this situation without being in possession of a penis. This is a non-penis essential decision. You think there is going to be a massive hole in your ceiling ? Then tell upstairs. Either it is (in which case good call) or there isn't . In which case no issue.

Or you could just sit there and try and grow a penis , in order to feel confident enough to tell your neighbour. Whilst waiting for the ceiling to collapse on your head .

FangsForTheMemory · 17/11/2021 21:27

Yes, speak to them. They need to know if they've got a leak, even more so if they've left a tap running!

VimFuego101 · 17/11/2021 21:28

I'd go now, they could have left a tap or bath running.

Offmyfence · 17/11/2021 21:29

I'd knock

LIZS · 17/11/2021 21:29

Go now, it might get into your electrics and affect the ceiling otherwise. Your insurance company will expect you to try to limit the damage.

Laughed out loud at this literally. You're right.
SinoohXaenaHide · 17/11/2021 21:31

Go now. 21:30 is just about reasonable for this sort of thing. Wait any longer and it's legitimate for them to be grumpy.

MagicBlueberry · 17/11/2021 21:35

It wasn't my last of penis stopping me going, I'd just come out the shower.. made more sense to send fully clothed DH Grin

I've had to get dressed and go anyway as DH is still classing this as a non emergency.. but there is no one in upstairs

OP posts:
MagicBlueberry · 17/11/2021 21:36

*lack of penis

Arabiannights01 · 17/11/2021 21:37

Don’t go now, it’s late and dark and will more than likely take ages to figure out where it is coming from!

Bootikin · 17/11/2021 21:39

Your DH is an utter drip. Hope your ceiling doesn’t fall in!

HemanOrSheRa · 17/11/2021 21:40

Is the upstairs flat the same layout as yours? So you have an idea of what room is above where the damp patch is?

Dollywilde · 17/11/2021 21:40

Worth getting their number for stuff like this - always feels less obtrusive than knocking on the door, even if you go up a few mins later! We had an upstairs neighbour with a variable shift pattern so unless it was urgent I’d usually text first in case she was on nights.

Also smiling at ‘not to drip feed’ given the subject but that’s just me Grin

MagicBlueberry · 17/11/2021 21:48

@Bootikin oh I'm fully aware. Hes never been a fan of confrontation, but it's not like I asked him to go and barge his way in demanding to see the bathroom. A cheery "hey upstairs neighbour, think you might have a leak somewhere? Don't suppose you could investigate.." was all I expected from him Confused

Not the same layout as mine, I'm about 90% certain the bathroom is directly above.

CustardySergeant · 17/11/2021 21:50

I wouldn't hesitate to knock on upstairs neighbour's door. I'm amazed anyone would in the same circumstances. Sooner rather than later surely.

TotallySuper · 17/11/2021 21:53

Oh no not in! Hope they come back soon. Is there a non emergency fire brigade number if it gets worse and they're still out?

LIZS · 17/11/2021 21:54

Can you stick a note on the door, for when they return?
