I didn't think I was unreasonable, but DH when I asked him to go said jt was and it should wait till morning. Interested to hear what others think

Oh bloody hell. I hope it doesn't get worse for you op! They don't work nights do they?!

FluffyBooBoo · 17/11/2021 23:21

So as not to be accused of drip feeding

Never has this phrase been used more appropriately Grin

beigebrownblue what on Earth are you on about?

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 17/11/2021 23:33

@beigebrownblue I think you need to go and have a cuppa and a chill out. The fuck are you on about 🤣

@Finknottlesnewt

Can I just assure you OP - it is perfectly acceptable to make a call on this situation without being in possession of a penis. This is a non-penis essential decision. You think there is going to be a massive hole in your ceiling ? Then tell upstairs. Either it is (in which case good call) or there isn't . In which case no issue.

Or you could just sit there and try and grow a penis , in order to feel confident enough to tell your neighbour. Whilst waiting for the ceiling to collapse on your head .

@beigebrownblue what?? She went round after she got dressed. You haven't read the thread, have you?

LoveFall · 18/11/2021 00:22

If it is dripping through the ceiling that usually means there is a lot of water pooling above.

Go now. Another 6 hours will just make the damage much, much worse. Surely if it can't be found in the dark the water can be turned off overnight at least.

DerAlteMann · 18/11/2021 00:23

We've had this. Our whole kitchen ceiling had to be replaced. Knock now.

As someone who has had a holiday feast ruined when a bathtub came crashing through the ceiling onto the set and food-laden table, I'm all in favor of addressing things like this as quickly as possible. Now, if it were near midnight, I'd wait till morning, but early in the evening? If I were the one with a leak, I'd be more than happy to know about it!

Just to clarify, my YANBU is to the OP.

Silvershroud · 18/11/2021 04:17

I've been involved in two ceiling collapses because of leaks. Our own ceiling collapsed because I didn't attend to a small leak under the bath quickly enough (now I'm a bit paranoid about water leaks) and when I lived in a flat a leak we had caused the flat below to be damaged. A male relative came round and said the woman living below us had seen the leak getting worse for two weeks and he wanted me to pay for the damage. I told him to take a hike, if someone had reported it I could have fixed it before it caused any damage, I'm not telepathic.

cookiemonster2468 · 18/11/2021 05:25

Depends how bad it is and if it's getting worse.

I once had a neighbour knock at 2am because of a leak from my flat. It was pretty bad and was dripping onto their bed.

I thought it was fair enough and would have done the same in that situation.

@beigebrownblue please come back and publicly apologise to the OP, and to the others who encouraged you to read the thread so that you could stop embarrassing yourself.

HalloweenScrooge · 18/11/2021 06:55

We had a tiny leak from a concealed shower valve in our flat that caused chaos with the downstairs neighbours. It had been going on for years, they had a terrible mould problem, and eventually a ceiling had to be re patched.

Because the tenants (multiple sets) had never communicated this with the landlord, and he himself had never looked (and the leak was within a stud wall) we didn’t have to contribute to the repair. We had our own repairs to make though. And it all came down to a split o ring that was likely to have been faulty when the shower was installed.

lnsufficientFuns · 18/11/2021 07:06

What’s wrong with some of you?

2130 isn’t 4am

I ignored something like this and the entire ceiling came crashing down
