To find my husband eating cheesestrings

What does your DH eat that is really annoying? Mine buys and eats cheesestrings for some reason really winds me up. It’s not like he peels them into strings and waves them in my face, it’s just that surely a 32 year old adult could just have more refined taste than that?! He also loves those little petit filous yoghurts..do your DHs also eat toddler food- or just my man child. Not sure why it bugs me so much.

@TheLastLonelyBakedBean

I buy extra. I love a cheese string, mayo and pombear sandwich, followed by tinned peaches mixed with petit filous, topped with mini marshmallows and sprinkles. Or jelly and Squirty cream.

Or baby bel, dairylea everything, with a side of skips and Jaffa cakes.

Or potato waffles/alphabites/smilies with chicken whatever's and spaghetti or beans. Topped with grated cheese. Or if we don't have that, ketchup and torn up cheese strings.

I'm not a good adult Blush

This made me laugh! You’re a fucking great adult!
OvertiredOverthinker · 14/11/2021 22:28

Aww, let your DH enjoy his cheesestrings! They’re ok but babybels and dairylea triangles are bloody good! I’m 32 and couldn’t care less about having more ‘refined taste’ when there are such delicious snacks to be had Smile

While we’re on the subject of enjoying toddler food…I have been known to enjoy a rusk or two as an adult Blush which is perhaps more embarrassing than enjoying cheesy snacks…My mum bought me a couple of boxes for baby DD, but of course all the baby books say to limit rusks as they contain sugar!! So I’ve left them in the cupboard for now and can feel the longing to munch one or two when DH is not around to judge me…

MintyGreenDream · 14/11/2021 22:28

Raw mushrooms.They stink

buckleten · 14/11/2021 22:32

I lover cheese strings and baby bels, and as a confession I also love the jars of baby food chocolate pudding!

Courtier · 14/11/2021 22:32

Cheese strings and baby bells do it for me just as much as Camembert and Roquefort. I'm also a fan of beans, mash and fish fingers

zukiecat · 14/11/2021 22:36

She's long gone now, but my Gran used to love a jar of baby food.

I miss her.

S2617 · 14/11/2021 22:45

Let him eat what he wants. Don’t you have bigger problems then a DH who eats cheese strings?

OvertiredOverthinker · 14/11/2021 22:53

@Alwaysmyresponsibility

Another one here who likes cheese strings, babybels, dairylea dunkers.

I get annoyed by people who don't like cheese (irrational I know).

My mum used to buy me those petit filous yoghurts when I was about 19. I have moved onto more adult yoghurts now.

@Alwaysmyresponsibility we had a lady start in our team who told us she HATES cheese! My mind was blown. And now I just feel annoyed whenever she mentions it. So I understand you!
Lillipops · 14/11/2021 22:59

My DH is a lover of cold soup...has to be either chicken noodle or minestrone straight from the can ...gives me the absolute boak but for him it's a nutritious snack in a can. Don't even get me started on mr Cheesemouse! Dairylee dunkers, cheese slices or if I'm feeling kind I'll cut up some little cheesy chunks. I really love him but the soup thing makes me heave!

Bortles · 14/11/2021 23:01

That'd annoy me too op. Mine makes and eats too much gravy. Like a big measuring jug full...

SocksAndTheCity · 14/11/2021 23:05

Babybels are great, but better is a fried egg roll with a plastic cheese slice and ketchup.

I haven't had a Wagon Wheel in years and now I want to buy some, but my favourite is a Viscount. I like to carefully take the green foil off in one piece and then fold it into different shapes 😊

kierenthecommunity · 14/11/2021 23:19

I love over processed cheese. I haven’t had a babybel in ages. I do like a dairylea triangle as a snack though

I also like alphabites and a slice of artic roll for pudding 😃

ApplesinmyPocket · 14/11/2021 23:24

@S2617

Let him eat what he wants. Don’t you have bigger problems then a DH who eats cheese strings?
S2617 This is Mumsnet, where we get together to have a bit of a lighthearted chat about this and that at times.

Picture yourself having a coffee with a group of friends... one of them says, 'doesn't it drive you mad when your husband..

Do you a) join in, with something (not) awful your own DH does and everyone happily chats along

b) tick them off sternly, pointing out that there are 'bigger problems' and 'DH must be allowed to eat what he wants' - ?

AndStand · 14/11/2021 23:31

When I met my now DH he had Farley's Rusks in his kitchen cupboard. He was 26 years old then. It took a while but I weaned him off them eventually 😉😀

Almostmenopausal · 14/11/2021 23:31

Cheese strings are just mozzarella! There's no added rubber! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Cheese strings are to mozzarella as margarine is to butter, or Chorleywood is to bread.
Sorry but that's literally what they're made of - mozzarella! 🤣

Straighttalking1 · 15/11/2021 09:05

Lmao. I'm sure he also eats 'grown up' food too. I love Monster Munch, sour skittles, biscuits galore. Ha ha leave him with his childhood pleasures. 🤣 You are so so so unreasonable.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 15/11/2021 09:37

I don't like cheese strings or baby be but I do love a dunker!

I'd forgotten about Turkey drummers, I'm really hoping coop have some now

Fatgalslim · 15/11/2021 09:38

@Returnoftheowl

I eat cheesestrings, they are a handy snack. I'd also be upset if my husband broadcasted my eating habits online and called me (whatever the female equivalent of) a man child is due to it.
Oh unclench, she hasn't named him or posted a picture FFS. It was obviously tongue in cheek/lighthearted.
Marmite27 · 15/11/2021 09:43

@Sparklingbrook

I saw Smiley Faces in the freezer at the supermarket earlier. So tempted to buy a bag for old time's sake. Grin
Somewhere (Iceland I think) has got salt and pepper smiley faces - like the ones with chilli from a Chinese takeaway.

I’m quite tempted!

gannett · 15/11/2021 09:48

Another one here who enjoys both cheese strings and fancy artisan cheeseboards.

No cheese left behind, that's what I say.

LindaEllen · 15/11/2021 10:25

Honestly, if you're getting to the stage where your husband winds you up by enjoying (any kind of) food, I'd suggest you have deeper problems. I love petit filous, frubes, cheese strings .. I rarely think to buy them but bloody hell, if you like something, why not?!

Justme10 · 15/11/2021 10:27
@Bordois

You are actually my food twin! I love to do potato waffles under the grill and some yellow burger cheese! Yum!

My DC also chicken nugget fans, I always make some my too. Either to top my salad, in a quick wrap or with mashed potatoes, sweet corn and grated cheese. 🤤
Your missing out! Put another potato waffle on top to make a cheesey waffle sandwich and then if your feeling really fancy put a runny fried egg on top Grin

labazslovesliving · 15/11/2021 11:13

find Cheesestrings rather rubbery and tasteless but if your husband likes them fair enough. Same with Petite bleeukk rather have a proper yoghurt but each to their own. Mine chomps away on grapefruits like orange often eating the peel too the smell and noise make me shudder.

TheLastLonelyBakedBean · 15/11/2021 13:38

@Justme10

I do a breakfast for me and the kids sometimes that's a lot like that they call it 'the waffle stack'

Potato waffle, layer of Heinz beans with sausages, cheese slice, potato waffle, bacon, sometimes mushrooms, cheese slice, potato waffle, fried egg.
