Fed up with unvaccinated colleague isolating

Peevedcolleague · 12/11/2021 16:40

Name changed 'cos I'll probably get slated but aibu to be pissed off about a colleague self isolating yet again while the rest of us have to carry on and pick up the pieces?

A new colleague chose not to be jabbed and is now facing numerous isolation periods at home on full pay where the rest of us have to carry on and cover her workload. Nature of the job means she's likely to be a close contact fairly regularly.

Even if she changed her mind and gets jabbed tomorrow, it'll be 10 weeks minimum before she's exempt from isolation so this could happen several more times yet.

Aibu to feel resentful and wish she bloody well got jabbed like the rest of us?

I am not anti vax

Could have fooled me. Why are you spouting misinformation then? Hmm

I've been told = I read it on some conspiracy anti vax site, probably.

Same here I have an unvaccinated NHS colleague so I have to do ALL the nursing homes and my own workload because she isn't allowed into nursing homes any more.
She always hated doing the nursing homes so I'm wondering if its on purpose.

Sympathies. Are your managers making you do that and are your workloads inequitable now?
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 13/11/2021 01:47

They can't do anything about it as we are so short staffed, we've had a meeting about it and we can't even get locums!

@NotAnotherPaperclip

YAB extremely U. Her body, her choice. A colleague of mine was in hospital for a fortnight after an allergic reaction to her second vaccine, and is still poorly enough to be on reduced hours. Would you treat her with the same contempt I wonder?
Yes, I imagine they would.
Lucycantdance · 13/11/2021 06:41

YANBU. I’m overseas and people who CHOOSE not to get vaccinated do not get to do so at expense of others. Do the unvaccinated CHOOSE to accept healthcare when they get sick from COVID?

girlmom21 · 13/11/2021 06:59

@XenoBitch shame that you were posting that same nonsense all night but never managed an apology for your wild accusations and assumptions

Yeah they do. When they are dying, their suspicions of anyone with a brain go out the window then. They are happy to accept any needle with whatever is in it to live, yet beforehand they think it has microchips and stuff so it's not safe. Hmm We are really just in idiocracy.

All the ones who say her body her choice, are you happy to accept a double workload then for someone who isn't vaccinated or for whatever reason? If so great. I don't want to go back into the office ever because I don't want to be at risk of catching any colds or flu again because they make me very sick for months, so if I have to, one of you can do my job. My body my choice right? Smile

gogohm · 13/11/2021 07:56

Yanbu I would be majorly annoyed. Dp reworked their sickness policy and it only covers covid if positive not self isolation after 1st October so they have no pay if isolating if unvaccinated. 2 staff refused to be vaccinated and unless they change their minds employment will need to be terminated, they need to visit clients and those clients are demanding vaccination (eu countries)

WhatAHexIGotInto · 13/11/2021 08:04

@Bumfaceffs

Nasty bunch ..personally I'd rather you all did stay away from me....I am still pure blood..my own DNA

Pure blood? As opposed to a Muggle you mean? I respect your decision to choose whether you want to have any vaccination, but if you really think that a vaccine can change your DNA, you have much bigger things to worry about than CoVID.

I'd love to read your source on all the 5 year olds dying from heart attacks, as a result of the CoVID vaccination? 5 year olds are not, and never have been, offered the vaccine.

BlackAlys · 13/11/2021 08:11

It's tough one. Everyone is of course given freedom of choice, but I'm a teacher and should one of my colleagues need to isolate continuously, my workload would be astronomical. I live on a very thin work/life balance in teaching as it is. Covering work for an absent colleague would tip me over I'm afraid. YANBU to feel like this.

Intercity225 · 13/11/2021 08:11

Your colleague has every right not be vaccinated. I bet she'd motor to the clinic if your employer put her on SSP instead of full pay.

Not necessarily - DD has to take isolation as unpaid leave, because she is not vaccinated! It hasn't changed her mind!

BlackAlys · 13/11/2021 08:23

Catching up on this thread. Still laughing at "pure blood" 🤣.

But, is she not struggling to pay rent / food etc? Or is she paying out of savings etc?
Maybebaby8 · 13/11/2021 08:33

This makes me laugh. It's their body their choice. You can still catch and spread it when vaccinated. The only person she is putting at risk is herself that she could catch it and become potentially more unwell. Blame the government for their ridiculous rules that make no sense!

RuggerHug · 13/11/2021 08:36

No, notanotjerpaperclip that's completely different. Someone who can't have a vaccine is totally different to a 'I just don't think I want to have it, because society exists for my life, I don't deem anyone else to be worthy of my consideration'
