What do you want for Christmas?

I am getting old and can't think what I want for Christmas, except for a less stressful job/life. Oh and for covid to fuck off and for climate change to do the same.

What are you wishing for for Christmas, that can actually be obtained with some money and not some divine intervention/other people not behaving like arses?

As my name states, I would like a cat but unless there's some divine intervention there, that won't be happening either

A solid night's sleep for the rest of my life.

I'd like some warmer pjs, some knitwear to see me through winter a decent pair of gloves and a pair of nice new trainers. The pair I wore in pregnancy were an extra wide fit due to oedema and they are huge on me now.

I want a baby and/or a puppy but I can dream on with the latter and probably the former too as it's been a year with one loss and no success so far.

I do want some Loccitane handcream and some perfume from Perfume Parlour.

To not spend it alone again. Between Oct - jan 7th I hate it. For the last 20yrs I’ve spent the majority of the holidays and my birthday alone. The birthday stings the most because no one fucking remembers it’s my birthday because it’s fucking Xmas.

I don't want any presents. I'm actively decluttering atm and don't want any more stuff. What I would like is a nice full house with DCs and family over, eating lovely food, drinking nice wine and gin and playing silly games.

I'm asking for dh to sign me up to a cookery class. I'd quite like gig tickets too. I can't be arsed with more stuff in the house and I thought after the past two years I need something that gets me out of the house!

A time machine to go back to Christmas 2019. I would make it the best Christmas my parents could have, as I would know that it would be the last one we would ever have with them. By Christmas 2020 they were both dead.

A BFP pregnancy test and an easy pregnancy. Then I wouldn't ask for anything ever again for Christmas.

A greenhouse, a kitchenaid mixer, trainers.

I have been putting away gifts for myself for the last three months Basically it is stuff I would have bought myself but waiting until Xmas to receive it makes it really exciting.

So far I have:

A watch
Sheepskin boots
A large comfy sweatshirt
Perfume

I am buying a new pair of soft leggings next month and then I have an entire outfit - may get some new undies/socks/bra just to complete the newness!!

New ugg slippers
A dressing gown (a long one to my ankles not one that flaps around my knees)
A new travel mug
A necklace
A charm for my bracelet (this is non-adult DS's contribution so I know I'm getting this as I've paid for it )

Some marbles to replace the ones I appear to be losing at a rapid rate

A bonsai tree
A book token (usually use a Kindle and proper books are a real treat)
New wellies
Tickets to theatre/concert
I'd also be happy for a charity gift on my behalf

I don't think you're weird at all. As adults, most of us can buy what we want, when we want, within reason, so it's much easier and less wasteful to do just that and then exchange little tokens on special occasions than go through the charades that some people undertake over Christmas gifts. That's weird IMHO.

People sending their DHs links to what they want 'so he can buy it for me for Christmas' or even worse, people who buy and wrap their own presents.

Or people who buy each other surprises and then get upset because what they get is too cheap, expensive, not to their taste or otherwise unsuitable and the item ends up unused or has to be exchanged, or is donated.

I want some new Mac makeup and a Diptuque perfume. But as I’m single mother I will buy them for myself . I did the same on my birthday bought myself beautiful winter boots and a lovely new coat. Takes away all the pressure/expectation from others. Since I’m in my 50s it has totally changed my outlook. Now I take responsibility for my own happiness and that way I don’t feel disappointed. Sorry that was a ramble but I cannot recommend enough buying one’s own presents.
Oh and I will also buy an annual pass to an art gallery.

I would just like a day off of everything which I have asked for for the last 5 years for bday and xmas. DH doesn't get that taking the kids out for 2 hours doesn't give me a day off and if I'm still at home I'll most likely work or clean. I want to be sent somewhere with reassurances that I won't come back to find everyone's done fuck all and I'll have to do twice the work to get back to normality.

Yes I have told him all of this specifically and in detail. It is apparently not an actual present. I expect I'll get chocolate.

I would like a long, warm coat with a hood that will be cosy for winter as I have recently started a new job where I can walk to work but my current coat doesn’t cover my bum!
