What do you want for Christmas?

I am getting old and can't think what I want for Christmas, except for a less stressful job/life. Oh and for covid to fuck off and for climate change to do the same.

What are you wishing for for Christmas, that can actually be obtained with some money and not some divine intervention/other people not behaving like arses?

As my name states, I would like a cat but unless there's some divine intervention there, that won't be happening either Grin

Some Bose Sleep Buds
A UV lamp for gel nails
Nice pyjamas
Kitty cuddles Grin

PinkSyCo · 07/11/2021 02:12

A dog.

Biscuitandacuppa · 07/11/2021 02:14

A soda stream, new slippers and pyjamas.

BarbaraofSeville · 07/11/2021 02:22

DH is getting quite stressed as he has no clue what to get me and doesn't want me being left without anything at Christmas. I'm not so bothered but I know I would feel the same if I was in his shoes so I thought I would look for inspiration here

Can you ask for a nice version of a consumable that you like, such as a bottle of gin?

I genuinely don't want anything most of the time as I like to research my own things and buy them when I see them at a good price.

Plus I see no point whatsoever making lists, sending links or telling people to buy X item.

Once you've chosen something you might as well buy it yourself and the person buying it hasn't done any thinking or choosing so it's not a gift from them in my mind.

So for Christmas and birthdays I'm perfectly happy if DP gets me a bottle of gin and some nice chocolates that he's been out and chosen himself rather than me having to think of something I want and hope he buys it before it sells out or whatever and then for me to wait until Christmas to have it.

Not to miscarry my baby. Have been bleeding a lot so the chances are v slim.

youdialwetile · 07/11/2021 04:16

LEGO typewriter

I always go for nicer versions of consumables, or luxury versions of things you need/want but can't justify.

E.g. super lovely soap or shower gel, a new really nice toiletry bag for going away, better gin/wine/beer than you'd usually buy.

Things I have especially liked include: add ons for my stand mixer, posh tea (whittards or fortnums), lovely posh lip balm, new socks, a cashmere jumper instead of normal, same for a scarf, cookbooks with delicious but practical recipes (i.e. Diana Henry's from the oven to the table).

A Dyson Airwrap

Nothing really.

Ponoka7 · 07/11/2021 06:02

We've stopped doing adult presents because so many in the family were absolute pisstakers, writing expensive gift lists, then handing regifted stuff that the recipient wouldn't want.
I wanted a watch for my birthday from my children, but got a fitness watch. So I'm going to say to not do birthdays as well.
Things I would have liked, a nail Inc (or a more upmarket brand) nail varnish in a seasonal colour, a bottle of wine above the price range I usually buy, a rose for my garden or bulbs that could be planted in January, theatre vouchers, footner skin remover. Or if we were doing lists then a Kurt Geiger bag from TKMaxx, it would be £20 each, but I would love it.

I’m really struggling to think what I want other than unobtainable things but current thoughts are;
Some nice boots
Another reasonably priced handbag just because I’m coming out of 4 years of carrying a changing bag so can actually carry a handbag
A new coat that hasn’t been chosen for practical reasons

Luxurious pyjamas and a range of sturdy plant supports!

WishingWell5 · 07/11/2021 06:50

Happy and excited children opening their gifts. Dad in a happy mood. And a pleasant, fun day.

Santastuckincustoms · 07/11/2021 06:52

I just smashed my phone so now I'll get one of those, which sucks because it's something I need rather than want. I'd prefer tickets to a west end show.

leafygarden42 · 07/11/2021 07:05

I'd like my middle son to get a good job and stick at it for more than 6 months.

leafygarden42 · 07/11/2021 07:05

Hang on - make that any job.

Notdoingthis · 07/11/2021 07:16

Dear Santa
I would like piano lessons, hiking boots, running shoes, smart boots, slippers, a mug, a waterproof coat, a wallet and a holdall.
I am a grown adult but cannot bring myself to spend money on any of these things for myself.
Many thanks

Mummadeze · 07/11/2021 07:38

I want a white coat with a fluffy hood, Rob Beckett’s new book, a small sauce pan, a pixi blush stick, Adidas tracksuit bottoms, Disney hoodie, maybe tickets to Frozen the Musical, a spa treatment. I will probably end up buying most things for myself but that is my list.

Rubyupbeat · 07/11/2021 07:39

Zero homelessness

Capferret · 07/11/2021 07:39

I’d like a way to heat my house that was environmentally friendly and didn’t cost eye watering amounts to install and run.
I really believe population control will be managed through energy supplies.

DukkaDukka · 07/11/2021 07:49

A coat and some new fur line DMs.

Knitwit99 · 07/11/2021 07:51

I want a decent umbrella. Bigger than handbag size, like a golf umbrella but not black with a golf logo on it. And not a cheap one out of Sports Direct either. I'm very fussy.
