Tis Slur Stupid xmas hat, mind you, oldfeck is pretty good name actually...

Of course people will get picked up sometimes and that's fine, sometimes it actually does matter as well. regards sudoku though, mn isn't about accuracy whih sudoku definately is

I suppose I consider mning more like talking and just like talking I am sometimes sloppy, so to speak!
I like pedants and do frequent the corner

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 12/12/2007 22:51

hmm. still think it's rude tbh. wouldn't do it in real life, I would worry about getting head kicked in at worst, being revealed as dreadful snob at best..

note 'revealed'..

jinglebells2shoessmells · 12/12/2007 22:52

i have not mentioned anyone by name on this thread. but you did correct my spelling.
(might have cocked up about fio in which case I apologise)

DanaScully · 12/12/2007 22:52

Yes but you can't GET "kicked in the head" on MN can you! And the person you've corrected will know for the future! Win/win situation?? (Well if only people didn't cop the hump so easily..)

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 12/12/2007 22:54

"cop"?

DanaScully · 12/12/2007 22:54

definitely cocked up about FioFio, but thank you for the apology. And I in turn offer mine for offence caused at aforementioned unwelcome pedantry

DanaScully · 12/12/2007 22:55

"Cop the hump" means "get into a strop". Well it does around here!

ItsPotatoesForYouMyLad · 12/12/2007 22:57

it's breevandecamp isn't it? she's done it to me twice. once on a thread when i was desperate for some actual parenting advice. she offered no advice, just corrected my grammar. i told her i thought it was highly inappropriate and insensitive. i realise she's rather popular in certain cliques so i'm doing myself no favours here, but it really pees me off.

Sandies · 12/12/2007 22:58

I get paid to be a pedant. My favourite expression? " I ain't done owt!" I enjoy the double negative explanation, kids don't (!!??!!)

CliffRichardSucksEggsinHell · 12/12/2007 22:58

colloquisms are soooooo common!

FlamesparodyOfAChristmasName · 12/12/2007 22:59

Erm... um... well...

I just don't want it to be wrong for you Psycho, and then people point and stare... people on here do that you know

It is for your own protection, I don't want them muttering and shattering your self esteem.

(CSWS does it to me, so you're not alone. Will never forget how to spell mediSed now)

DanaScully · 12/12/2007 22:59

Poor LGJ. I must protest on her behalf!

But see.. pedantry is rife!!

jinglebells2shoessmells · 12/12/2007 22:59

oh good we can be mates again.
but you are not alone I have seen other people do it on here. not so much since they have their own topic,
(can you tle I hate faling out with people on here)

DanaScully · 12/12/2007 23:03

I never wanted to fall out with you 2Shoes. I have great respect for you! But the your/you're thing was just to much for me.. the urge was stronger than my self-control.. I will try harder in future!

edam · 12/12/2007 23:03

Have to confess I am rather fond of the double positive 'yeah, right'.

DanaScully · 12/12/2007 23:03

ItsPotatoesForYouMyLad · 12/12/2007 23:04

Reading an essay written in text talk is fantastic People in West Yorkshire have a sound grip of grammar - yep, strangled it! I say that with love.....
