Yep agreed I’m sick of every member of the royal family, politicians, celebrities preaching how we should all go without holidays, buy expensive electric cars, fit heat pumps that don’t work, and that cost a fortune to install and run whilst they swan about globe trotting in their private jets to their multiple mansion homes. How many homes do the royal family have? What is their carbon footprint? I’m sick of the whole lot of them, it makes me so angry.

Takemetothe90s · 05/11/2021 21:48

@Mrsjayy

Tbh the whole conference could have been zoomed In !
That’s what I thought! None of them give a fuck about the environment, it’s just a jolly and they’re arrogant enough to believe us little people will do as they say. Bollocks

Quite! If ever a conference should have been on zoom, this was it. It was just a meeting of egos and a waste of aviation fuel.
Justheretoaskaquestion91 · 05/11/2021 21:48

This is fucking ridiculous, hypocritical and stupid. But then these are people who brought their spouses along for what exact reason? Don’t get me started on spouses attending the Cornwall summit in the height of COVID either when people couldn’t see family. Pisses me off so much

I can’t agree enough. It is total BS and I am SO pissed off with it.
blublub · 05/11/2021 21:58

Completely agree. I’ll feel guilty for my steak when the millionaires go vegan (so when he’ll freezes over!).

ChristmasPlanning · 05/11/2021 22:42

Ridiculous

Just a giant networking event for those there.

ssd · 05/11/2021 22:47

It makes me sick. Our young folk must be sick to the back teeth with this lot. The sooner young people take over the better. My generation has fucked us all by voting in this shower of clowns and keeping the royal family worship alive. Young people won't stand for this.

YABU for not including the other 30,000 delegates too, most of whom will also have flown. I don't usually find common ground with Andy Burnham but...

If they got the train, somebody would probably stab them or attack the train somehow.

They won’t be allowed to liftshare, there are rules about how many royal and government figures can travel on same planes - cos if plane goes down it disrupts running of country I expect is the theory.

I am not at all bothered that they flew there and back. I AM bothered by the number of flights London businessmen do everyweek to visit clients in other countries, most of those meetings could be done by zoom but people want the fun of travel. I think there shoukd be a legal limit on how many non-essential flights one person can take per year, and in my dictatorship essential wouod not include ‘my client wants to chat in person.’

DdraigGoch · 05/11/2021 22:57

Though to be fair, listing every single one of the 30,000 hypocrites would be a very long OP.

We definitely need to ration flights. For those who absolutely NEED to make multiple flights a year, they can buy the allocation of those (like me who do not wish to fly.

I shall start the bidding at...

This. ^

They can all fuck off. As I said on a thread earlier, (that had a smug and sanctimonious OP, and a bunch of smug posters, rambling on about what an evil monster you are if you don't meticulously handwash every last thing you put out for recycling,) I ALWAYS DO what I can to help the environment... So does DH.

Shower not bath, (90% of the time,) one car between us, energy saving everything in our home, cycle and walk when we can, recycle as much as we can, have 30 odd trees in our garden, plant 100s of flowers for the bees, and butterflies etc, and feed the birds and hedgehogs to try to help nature.

Yet some arsehole STILL has to come along and make a cunty remark, about how me, and others like me - are STILL not doing enough. These posters remind me of these twatty famous people preaching at us, rant rant moan moan dictate dictate... but you can bet these preachy posters, (like the famous people,) do not practice what they preach.

Our ONE car is a little 1.2 tiny thing that fills up on £40 of petrol (previously £33 before the price hike on petrol,) and it's a 15 reg. We bought it 2 years ago when it was 4 years old, we paid for it within 18 months, and it is good for another 6 or 7 years at LEAST.

They can kiss my fat hairy ass if they think we're going to get £30,000 in debt for an electric car! They can also shove smart meters up their arse, and can spin on the end of my finger if they think we're going to get one of those repugnant fucking massive new boiler replacement bastards, that cost £4K, and are the size of a car. Like fuck are we gonna stick it on the side of our beautiful little cottage!

I am SO fucked off with being preached at by people who don't practice what they preach, and also posters who claim they do this and that and all that shit, but are probably making it all up anyway!

NoDecentHandlesLeft · 05/11/2021 23:04

Loads of people flew in private jets from all over the world.
Rank hypocrisy. Should have been remotely.

CasperGutman · 05/11/2021 23:05

Supposedly, Johnson didn't just take a private jet back from COP26. He took a private jet back from COP26 so he could make it in time for a slap-up dinner at the Garrick Club (no women admitted) with climate change denier Charley Moore. Make of that what you will.

and a “do as I say, not as I do” government, and the elite too Hmm
it’s getting beyond a tiresome joke nowAngry

He's so right. But i find plenty common ground with him. Talks a lot of sense.

Watchingyou2sleezes · 05/11/2021 23:10

Beyond the inflated sense of
self importance and entitlement, there's a real reason why they act like this.

It really isn't difficult to see.

WillyWollyWandy · 05/11/2021 23:10

The Powerful Folk are all flying in on private jets to Glasgow and don’t seem to see any sort of irony whatsoever in terms of the utterly hypocritical behaviour they are displaying. By doing so, I really don’t feel the need to change my behaviour in any way. (Such as my own personal SUV habit).
Let’s see Chuck, BoJo and the rest in a train back to London and everyone else zooming in from whoever they are in the globe. As the last 18 months have proved, remote/virtual conferences, when organised well, can be as productive as those that are held in person. Especially one about climate change. Can you imagine how much more credible GOP26 would have been if not one single delegate took a flight. It could have been such a powerful message. Instead, looking at the hundreds of hypocrites that flew in to preach to the common people about what we all need to do to combat climate change, then I can’t take any of it seriously quite frankly.

They could have least have shared a lift!!!!

Maybe, but then each of them would have felt less special. Also neither of them would probably welcome the company of the other (and it's hard to blame them for that bit)

And at least we're unlikely to be stuck with Boris until he dies ...

If we're really all going to make changes to save the planet, we won't be buying endless consumer goods, so far fewer new clothes and tech goods, no huge gas guzzling cars, much less unnecessary travel and more shared transport, smaller, more energy efficient property and so on. There will be no point in having extreme wealth.

But the real legwork of saving the planet will be left to the little people, not the users of private jets.

Dreamstate · 05/11/2021 23:34

Prince Charles coild of borred Williams new electric car and show he is walking the talk but nah.

Fuck em all, they expect us to cough up more money, make the changes whilst they just do what they like because its too inconvenient

Enough is enough

twilightermummy · 05/11/2021 23:41

The royals need to jet off on a one way ticket, bar queeny perhaps.
There’s no hope for BJ so I won’t even go down that track.
Seriously though, all the guff that Charles spouts about Mother Earth, I’m pretty surprised (although I shouldn’t be).
