To think that executing drug smugglers is not necessary

They deserve prison time, absolutely, but I think execution over it is a step too far.
I’ve been reading about the grandmother Lindsay Sandiford who has been sentenced to the death penalty despite others involved being released already. She has no set execution date but has lost several appeals.
Indonesia sent two young Australian males to the firing squad after keeping them on death row for 10 years. Why keep somebody on death row for so long if you’re just going to execute them.

I do not think they deserved to be executed, even if they did deserve prison time.

Me too.

I'd be happy with any form of execution for such low lives. I question people who say they don't agree with the death penalty for any crimes but most especially those crimes that involve children. Very odd.

Why lethal injection rather than something quick and clean?

Lethal injection is unreliable, can take ages. I mean it fails sometimes.

If torture is the point then I dunno. There's stoning, or burning.

Why injection? It's a shit thing to choose from all angles.

I disagree with the death penalty in all instances. The risk she took was absolutely insane! I get anxious over carrying nurofen to France!

That's me as well. I gone through at customs to tell them I have something that is within the allowed amount just because I feel I have to surrender. I've had some funny looks and, "No love a bottle of wine is fine."

I'd never stand up to an interrogation, I'd just say shoot me now.

No they're implying I think. That anyone who disagrees with child sex offenders being executed is one or is protecting one or something. I'm pretty sure.

I disagree with the death penalty, I should never have watched James Cagney in Angels with Dirty Faces. Deeply affected me as an 8 or 9 year old.

That is an awful lot of people (men) to kill.

Would it include those who offend against any child under 16? If not where's the line?

What level of crime?

What about the fact that if the punishment is worse, it has an effect of pushing offenders towards killing victims/ abusing children too young to tell anyone?

If the perpetrator is the father.

Could it lead to reduced reporting? (Already v low).

If you tell anyone I'll be executed feels like a strong lever for any sex offender to use tbh.

You are right. Criminal organisations exploit those who are poor and vulnerable, because they are the people usually end up getting caught carrying drugs. And I highly doubt that they are allowed to refuse or pull out, after agreeing.

Most of them are victims themselves. But they are easier to catch and punish than the ones at the top.

I read somewhere that the criminal organisations sometimes recruit vulnerable people to carry some drugs through customs, then tip off the authorities. While they are on the luck out for the short middleaged woman or detaining her a real smuggler goes through unnoticed with a large quantity of drugs. How cruel would that be.

I have no idea if it is true but it sounded possible.
