NC just because I post a lot and don't want it linked to my posting history.

My DM went on holiday this morning. We texted most of the taxi journey to the airport, and I last heard from her when she had boarded the plane.

The plane landed at 5pm (I have checked), and it should be a 90min taxi to the hotel, plus getting baggage and covid checks at the airport first. I expected to hear from her 2-3 hours ago.

She always texts to let me know she's arrived, shows off pics of the hotel etc. I haven't heard anything and my WhatsApp is stuck on one tick so not delivered.

Of course now I'm worried about an accident or something. Her friend who she has gone with also has some quite serious health problems, although deemed fit to fly, so wondered if something had happened with him but if she had had to go to hospital with him she would have found a way to let me know I think.

I'm supposed to be working but can't concentrate. Luckily I'm self employed so it only affects me. If any kind posters can keep me company for a while id appreciate it as I doubt I'll be able to sleep until I at least get two bloody WhatsApp ticks!

And I've disabled voting as I'm obviously BU... I'm normally pretty laid back but this is really out of character.

It sounds like you have such a lovely relationship with your mum!

Cantstopthewaves · 29/10/2021 09:15

You need a holiday yourself after the stressGrin

Trudij123 · 29/10/2021 09:18

So glad you found her @Littlebitworried7 - hopefully you can enjoy the rest of the time away and get lots of updates about what a wonderful time she’s having!!

Heshowedmeheaven · 29/10/2021 09:18

Have you tried the hotel yet?

Heshowedmeheaven · 29/10/2021 09:19

Oh sorry I missed the update

Inastatus · 29/10/2021 09:23

Tigertigertigertiger · 29/10/2021 09:31

You are a caring daughter. Great news !

Bluesheep8 · 29/10/2021 09:46

Good news OP.
All the pp's saying ring the hotel - surely they wouldn't have been allowed to say whether she'd checked in or not? Or put a call through to her room....

I thought that too. I could be anyone!

Anyway she's now sending photos of the pool and 26 degree sunshine and I'm really jealous as its wind and rain here Grin

Good news!

PurpleFlower1983 · 29/10/2021 10:04

Glad your mum is ok!

Mindymomo · 29/10/2021 10:06

Glad she’s made contact. My Son lost his phone on holiday, we got a message through Facebook via his friend. I called the hotel and they were so helpful, firstly trying his room, then putting out a message from reception desk and actually going to find him.

MissMarpleRocks · 29/10/2021 10:15

Great news

Breadandbutterpud · 29/10/2021 10:58

Glad you’ve got a happy ending. Stuff like this is horrid and gives you so much empathy for people who genuinely do have people go missing. It must be unbearable. X

Sally872 · 29/10/2021 11:13

Lovely update. Glad all OK. I would have worried too as mu parents are similar when away.

I'm jealous too 😁

I'm glad that your mum is okay and you are not able to relax. I completely understood your reasons for not wanting to call the hotel last night though. Yes, it would have made you feel much better if she had checked in and all was fine but if she hadn't got there yet then you would have been panicking more and more all night and there would have been nothing you could have done about it anyway being in a different country. I wouldn't have called either.

xprincessxjanetx · 29/10/2021 11:53

now able to relax - obviously!

MacMahon · 29/10/2021 12:03

What a relief. I recognise that middle-of-the-night catastrophising.

chesirecat99 · 29/10/2021 12:05

Glad all is well!

May I suggest a phone bank charger thingamajig would make an excellent Christmas gift for your DM Grin

GoodnightGrandma · 29/10/2021 12:06

That’s good, you can relax now !

gogohm · 29/10/2021 12:10

@Littlebitworried7

Update: She's texted back. I was right about the voltage/slow charging thing. There was a problem at hotel check in so they were late getting to the room, she put her phone on charge and fell asleep before it had charged enough to switch on and text.

Thanks to everyone that reassured me. I knew it was probably fine but because it was late and I was by myself, my mind was a bit more irrational than usual. I am glad I didn't call the hotel though Grin

GREAT NEWS! Grin

See if you can ring her later though, as it could be someone else texting from her phone. (Highly unlikely but you never know!)

What a lovely, kind daughter she has, worrying so much about her. Grin

All the best @Littlebitworried7
