Adele Ticket Prices

Saw elsewhere people discussing ticket prices for Adele and that there are payment plans available. Since when do you need payment plans for a gig?

Had a look and it’s £257 for one ticket. It’s outrageous.

I think it’s ridiculous. I did pay £100 to see Kate Bush though, and know someone who paid £400.

Nandakanda · 29/10/2021 07:47

I paid £2.50 to see David Bowie and Queen.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 29/10/2021 07:49

I think the payment plan thing is a red herring - thanks to Klarna et al you can get a payment plan/go into debt for just about anything now if you need or want to.

I baulked at £120 for KB at the time but bitterly regret it. The money will be forgotten in time but the experience and memories will last a lifetime.

It’s basic economics. The market dictates the price.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 29/10/2021 07:58

You do all realise that Adele doesn't personally set ticket prices don't you? Hmm It's money grabbing promotors that do that.

I looked at Michelle Obama tickets a few years ago -£457 was the cheapest! Shock

FlibbertyGibbitt · 29/10/2021 08:02

Is this through Viagogo ? Don’t book through them, avoid at all costs !

KingsleyShacklebolt · 29/10/2021 08:05

@Lockheart

Don't go then. Presumably there are enough people willing to pay that (not me!).
Well exactly.

I wouldn't pay £257 to see Adele. I would think twice about paying £25.70, to be honest. But they obviously think they will be able to sell enough tickets at that price.

Sparklingbrook · 29/10/2021 08:10

It's all very well to say 'don't go then' but it's still a huge amount of money and that's the discussion here.

Fizbosshoes · 29/10/2021 08:16

Coldplay tickets were (i think) £95- 132 last week.

The ticket price doesn't offend me as much as the food and drinks racket. In years gone by you could take your own food or drink. Then (in the O2 anyway) it was no food but you could take drinks. Last time I went you were allowed to take in neither food or drink. Now I know you are not obliged to buy any of their extortionately priced food or drink, but a lot of concerts have doors open at 5.30 or 6 and go on until 10 or 10.30pm and is usually 11 by the time you've got out of the venue That's quite a long period of time to not have anything to eat or drink.

BigYellowHat · 29/10/2021 08:28

Is that from a tout or directly? Either way completely ridiculous!

AutumnTreesBloom · 29/10/2021 08:31

Gosh I remember seeing Adele for about £5 back in the day when she was starting out. I then went to see her again a few years ago when it was a reasonable price but I wouldn't pay hundreds. More often than not, it's people buying a few tickets and then selling them on for extortionate rates.

Sprostongreen21 · 29/10/2021 08:41

@JurgensCakeBaby

When I was young living in East London we'd go to gigs all the time and £25 was seen as pretty expensive, a weekend ticket with camping to Reading festival was about £85 this was early 2000s not the seventies. It's a shame that it's becoming so inaccessible.
I spent my teens/20s going to so many gigs and festivals. In the late 90s I’m sure festivals were still under £100.

By the time I hit my thirties and now 40s ticket prices have risen even for smaller bands and venues. I’m very choosy now who I go to see just because I can’t afford them all. I’d have loved to the see the stones a few years back but refused the ticket price to be honest.

People that are huge and rarely tour will always sell out regardless of price even though lots will be priced out

Lonelycrab · 29/10/2021 08:52

I quite like Adele but no way I’d pay that, even £100 is too much, I expect those tickets will be a long way from the stage.

But isn’t this just the reality of the music industry now? 20 years ago the physical product (an actual cd) would have been the main income stream for the artist, and the tours and shows were there to boost that.

Now the music is given away for free via YouTube Spotify etc. and the actual income comes from bums on seats at the shows. I guess with the megastars like her and Sheeran/Coldplay will have significant income from streaming too, but there has been a shift to charging more for shows since the rise of streaming. Even relatively unknown artists are changing £15-20 a gig these days.

Perhaps it’s the price we pay for having free music on tap? The money has to come from somewhere....

mogsrus · 29/10/2021 09:05

They Finnish the gig & say Thank You all so much for coming to see me,I love you all. You should be hearing,Thank You for making me so damn RICH..
