in a kidney shaped bowl, along with the pics of her gorgeous new baby? I kept visualising it during supper.

No liver and onions for you then, swedey?

moondog · 10/12/2007 21:19

lol
Some people have no idea of where the boundaries are,do they??!

cherryredretrochick · 10/12/2007 21:20

why wouls she take that?

Gursky · 10/12/2007 21:22

Just don't go round for dinner unless you know the menu in advance. You don't want any 'I made this myself - no really, I made it'! Yikes.

camillathechicken · 10/12/2007 21:23

mabye it was included by accident, she was so concntrating on getting pic of the baby

i would not be freaked out in the slightest, but i imagine plenty would be !

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 21:24

I have four children and have never felt the need to photograph - or even look at - my placentas.

Snowmond · 10/12/2007 21:25

We need a puke face

Why would anyone want a picture of that? Have a look yes but a picture

PeckaRolloverAgain · 10/12/2007 21:26

Why not photograph it! Its a pretty marvellous, amazing thing!

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 21:29

peckarolloveragain - So did you have yours lightly sauteed with a spinach and watercress side salad to restore your iron levels?

OP posts:
camillathechicken · 10/12/2007 21:30

well, you know what, some women are pretty overwhekmed by the thing that kept their baby nourished and alive for the duration of the pregnancy and want to look at it and examine it, even keep it, eat it, bury it and plant a tree over it...

it is a thing worthy of at least a cursory glance IMO!!!

anyhoo, did she actually include a close up of the placenta by itself or was it part of a pic with the baby?

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 21:31

Also, your own placenta might well be amazing and wonderful and even delicious but only to you

OP posts:
cherryredretrochick · 10/12/2007 21:31

I was amazed by the size of the thing, I'm sure it was bigger than my babies but I may be remebering that wrong.

LadyOfTheFlowersXmasName · 10/12/2007 21:31

Wish I had taken pics of mine tbh!
Amazing!

Was just thinking what Camilla posted.
Great minds eh LuLu?

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 21:31

Full frame by itself.

OP posts:
camillathechicken · 10/12/2007 21:32

hmm.. full frame by itself.. she could have mentioned it before showing it, but she is still on that post baby high !!

FrannyandZooey · 10/12/2007 21:34

LOLOL

fantastic

dejags · 10/12/2007 21:34

boak...

Snaf · 10/12/2007 21:35

Hmmm, slightly strange. Although I must admit I love placentas, so I would have liked it [freak emoticon]

norkmaiden · 10/12/2007 21:35

wish I'd taken a photo of mine. Was so thrilled with ds though I hardly remember the mw showing it to me - which she did with great enthusiasm, I remember that much!

And yeah I'd look at a photo of one without a second thought! Not particularly squeamish though.

Swedes2Turnips1 · 10/12/2007 21:36

I would send you a link but it feels disloyal - especially as the placenta looks like it is still breathing and has a heart beat and therefore probably has fundamental rights.

OP posts:
franke · 10/12/2007 21:36

This thread has made me realise I never saw either of my placentas. And actually, I think I'd rather like to! Must put it into my birth plan/instructions to dh this time round.

(Won't be showing to anyone else though - I'm not that weird)

PeckaRolloverAgain · 10/12/2007 21:37

I am really not getting why it would be offensive to anyone, least of all a fellow mother who wouldnt be a mother without one!

And no, I didnt eat mine - some people choose to though.

It wouldnt just be my own I would be amazed at - they are all amazing!

Im on hormonal overdrive atm (largely thanks to my 38 week placenta ;) and am actually feeling very protective over this photographed placenta!!

BeeWiseMen · 10/12/2007 21:38

has she offered you any pies or stews lately?

I'm a bit sad I never saw the placenta now camilla has put it like that. Like my list of sad things about dd's birth isn't long enough.....

norkmaiden · 10/12/2007 21:40

this one's pretty amazing!

disclaimer: not for the weak of stomach

Snaf · 10/12/2007 21:41

I always offer women a good gawp at their placentas, but hardly anyone wants to look. Shame really, they are fascinating. I think you can tell a lot about a woman from her placenta...
